Oh, the name Seth describes him perfectly. Looks like he's started out perfectly too. The minute anyone sees a pic can they post it? For Jacobsen too please.

Well dear Buzz, I so wished Gerry Spence would have come forward, but we don't know. He might have. Karr is owed a fair trial even though I detest what he is.

Thanks Buzz for all the attention you are giving to posting links. :blowkiss:

Steve Jacobson was the Cheif Public Defender until retirement in May it looks like. Seth replaced him.

He has represented some of the county’s most notorious defendants, including Matthew Mirabal, who was convicted of murdering his wife in 2000; Thayne Smika, who remains a suspect in the 1983 shooting death of CU student Sid Wells; and Robert Powers, who in 2003 was convicted of stabbing to death his estranged lover’s daughter.

I saw that but was hoping it was just my old eyes!

But, on the flip side, he is an expert in the field of DNA.

Sounds like his public defender is off and running with this. According to Rita Cosby, Jacobsen is/was a DNA expert. No link for that though. Also, Temin has filed notice to seal JMK's 'written' application declaring indigent circumstances and request of public defender. Reasoning is that because handwriting more than likely will be an issue in this case, they didn't want yet another 'sample' out there.
Good man! He isn't out there calling a press conference either proclaiming his client's sanity.
:D

Jamie Harmon has an unenforceable contract. There isn't any way that she can force Karr to have her represent him. the Public Defender's last name is Tenant--at least that is what I think I heard. Even the Public Defender will defer to a big name attorney, if one steps forward. I think a name attorney, definitely not Jamie Harmon, and the Public Defender will make a good team.
You can't do that - can you? The public defender is only if you can't afford to hire a name (or any other attorney).

I've noticed that samples of his handwriting that aren't massively out of date seem in short supply - there should be something from the RN time available. What it looks like now seems irrelevant, and shouldn't worry the public defender. If he's as obsessed as he seems to be, you could make a good case he altered it to look more like the RN over the years.

Thanks, Scandi! Very interesting indeed.
I saw Harmon her first night interviewed and was NOT impressed, LOL. Maybe she has consulted with a few media guru's now, hehe. Appears she's working hard to stay involved :D Ya gotta wonder why.

--->>>$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Meantime back on CTV, they waved around the court documents that were filed today. One of the docs was stating that Karr is INDIGENT and a public defender would be appointed for him.

In another meantime back in GA, the family tells Karr that "Help is on the way". Perhaps the video/story/ contract may have put money in his families coffers. Stay tuned.

Karr was so busy talking and defending his own right to confess, now when he gets legal counsel they tell him to shuddup, which is his legal right, but, who is on JonBenets side?

Seems like 'defendant and plaintif' postures are bumping elbows here.

I assume it will all be ironed out in the courtroom, perhaps the trial of the century or any century.

They are already screwing up his defense by talking about how "sane" he is.
JMK was using these attorneys as his mouthpiece. He was unhappy with his coverage in the media and pressured these attorneys to spin things in a different direction. Obviously, these attorneys did not have the proper control over JMK and acceded to his demands.

JMK has an agenda he wishes to advance and it is important, in his mind, that the world sees him as a sane and intelligent advocate. He will use his notoriety to argue that there is nothing “wrong” or “unfit” with his sexuality and it is the rest of society that has the problem. He will argue that children would be a lot safer in the long run if society would just accept these “loving” adult/child relationships. He will also argue that society discriminates against those of his sexual orientation.

I truly hope the media does not provide JMK with the platform to advance his sick agenda.

I too wonder who is on JonBenet's side. Hopefully the DA is.

I think that is what he did Details; actually practiced the handwriting of the ransom note. Obsession is what it is, it is becoming totally involved with something. It appears that JMK has been obsessed with the JBR ever since it happened. He accessed a person who may have had inside information from the JBR murder. It's been mentioned on here that one of the investigators and Michael tracey may have gotten together during Tracey's book and documenatry of the JBR case. Who is to say that JMK, eithr through this affiliation with Tracey, or evejn over the internet, through online chat with the actual perp. JMK has had almost 10 years of living with the JBR murder, and how much could he have assimilated during that time. Don't know if your know anyone with the ability to be very focused, but I have known them, and have been that way myself, at times. It's frightening that their minds work at warp speed, and they swallow every bit of knowledge, and possible deduction, that is available. This could have been John Mark Karr.

Karr has a public defender from Boulder...the two lawyers from CA need to apply with the Colorado State Bar in order to represent JMK in Boulder. As of today the two lawyers have not applied and according to CTV, the application would take about a week for approval.

I believe that, in addition to their pro hac vice status, they would have to be "death qualified" in Colorado. That's not going to happen in a week.

--->>>Well as Buzzml says, Karr has been filled with obsession, and HE is the only one WE know about so far who has screws loose. I am wondering just HOW many such humans inhabit our towns and the INTERNET with their screws dangling. I think he knows something that will crack the case. For JonBenets sake and all of the other little JonBenet's I hope that I am right.

Yeah - that's why the defender's office shouldn't worry about samples of his current handwriting being released - it's samples from 10 years ago that are the threat (if they match) - and that's what is in short supply! We've got the ancient yearbook sample, and that's about it. I can say my handwriting changed plenty in the 14 years after high school!

--->>>Here is another of my hairbrained thoughts. With all of the tramping through the R's house with tours etc. That old legal pad could have been picked up and carried away ONLY to have the note written elsewhere and brought back the night of the murder. The excess pages could have been torn away and the real pages left in the pad and torn out that night.

WHO in the house would have been using or missing the legal pad right at Christmas time hub bub? It possibly could have never have been missed, imop.

I would only want to see, and accept, John Mark Karr's handwriting from the fall of 1996. he was attending Bevill State Community College, in Hamilton, Alabama. Let's hope someone has a handwriting sample from Karr at that time.

His ex-wife, Lara, is going to be sorry she burned all of those notes from him. NE would pay a small fiortune for them.

Has anyone seen any evidence that JMK was obsessed with, or even knew of, JBR prior to 12/25/96?

Yes, I agree with that. He could have changed it afterward, and the year book is irrelevant ~ other than what he might have written in it. I think his new attorney is just trying to keep the media out of the case and not wanting to give them another "item" to discuss non-stop!
:)

You have just now justified my "pack rat syndrome". I am telling Mr. Richman that I keep EVERYTHING on the off chance that he'll do something newsworthy someday and I can sell his lovenotes for big money. (Do you think he'll buy it?)

No I haven't heard anything about that "little detail"!! At some point he is supposed to have said he was at the Ramsey house for their Christmas party. But, other than that, no one coming forward seeing him at a beauty pageant, etc.
:D
