If CO can't justify filing charges against JMK, I see a quick trip to CA in his near future. CA can easily justify jailing him long enough for CO to continue their investigation into his whereabouts in late December, 1996. The DNA results should be back soon, although I think they are really a long shot in this case, and John Mark Karr is also a long shot. A really weird guy, but a long shot, nonetheless.
I wonder how long his sentence in California would be, since these were misdemeanor charges. He already served some jail time for those charges. Does he have any additional charges for failure to appear? So, bottom line is, if the DNA doesn't match, he serves some time in California and then he's free ~ correct?

Breaking news on Fox 1996 pictures found but Karr is not in the ones they found. They are still looking for pictures that include Karr, Family is still insisting that he was with them in 1996, family members interviewed for 3 hours today in Alabama.

I have been wondering what happens after he iis charged in CO and there is an arraingment on the charges. The guy seems awfully intent on pleading guilty in this case. If he were to be arraigned and wanted to plead guilty then CO is stuck. No proof of guilt would be necessary. In that sense we could actually have a guy not guilty pleading guilty for what ever his strange motives are.
dragonfly, maybe this is the method of his madness. He wants to do penance for the death of Jon Benet Ramsey, regardless if there is no "real" evidence against him. It wouldn't be the frist time someone has admitted to a crime they haven't committed, but the curcimstances of this crime, and the persona of JMK, combines to be well beyond anything I am aware of.

I think I owed you that from insinuating I was a drunk on the Mel thread. So I figure us to be even.

Doesn't he have to make a statement (allocution?) to the court stating the details of the crime and how he committed it? If the facts don't line up, isn't it true that his plea can't be accepted?

Panthera, he spent just less than six months in jail. He did break the terms of his release, violated restraining orders, skipped town, and failed to show up for his court date, so however many months they can tack on to the supposed one year sentence, less the time served. Let's say minimum six months left to serve, plus whatever they can add on.

This thing is so bizarre, I wouldn't be surprised if John Mark Karr is in MY Christmas pictures. I am going to go look.

No word on Lara as of yet, but remember she has an atty, so that interview will be more of an event, and probably include a statement by her atty. Nothing on that yet.

a lot, if not most, of the TH's are saying it's a "15 minutes of fame" thing...

i think you could be right though..i never thought about his "method of madness"...if he claims guilty, & there's no evidence of it, then is he just put in a 'mental' hospital??

I turned on FoxNews and they were talking about Saddam! CNN is covering the case right now, but didn't say anything about the pictures ~ they're talking with Barry Scheck about the DNA.
