I agree with Mickey Sherman and I think that is exactly what Harmon & Vanzandt are doing. I heard today that they will have a difficult time getting inside the courtroom (fees, applications, etc) and still need a Colorado attorney present there. And their press conferences ~ I wouldn't want them representing me!
I agree too. Definately doing it for the publicity. They should be ashamed of themselves.

And everybody knows Mickey Sherman is the foremost authority on publicity. ;)

I'm beginning to feel sorry for the guy in that regard, since I actually think he has serious mental problems (his mother did; perhaps something inherited?) that makes him believe in his own mind that he "was there" with JonBenet. These two women just seem to be capitalizing on his sudden notoriety ~ they're obviusly not concerned with JMK's well-being or they wouldn't have blurted out how "normal" he is when clearly they could try to use a mental-health defense if he actually goes to trial.

Another thing I heard a little while ago was from someone talking about how he had to have everything in his apartment in place, that he was "obsessive compulsive". Which brings to mind the ransom note: yes, there were practice sheets crumpled in the wastebasket, but the 'final copy' had cross-outs. Would a OCD person leave an 'imperfect' note? Anyone know?

The 12 year old girl that he was investigated for murdering is identified in a news story today as Georgia Moses. We have been told he was cleared, but there is a very strange site with info about the case. Please read:

http://www.keeslau.com/TomWaitsSupplement/Lyrics/Mulevariations/Georgialee-ub.htm

The way it seems is that this crime didn't really fit Karr. He wasn't living in Petaluma in 1997. She was a black girl of 12. She was a runaway and her body was dumped in the woods by a freeway. Of course we do not know Karr couldn't have done it. But the key is, when the police investigated him they cleared him and maybe they felt that he didn't "fit" the crime scenes of JBR or Georgia Moses, so he couldn't be involved in either.

Remember Ted Bundy also did some crimes out of his usual MO, and because his last known victim was much younger than the others, it didn't seem to fit. Yet that was the one that got him convicted as it had the most proof. The child killer Clifford Olson also picked victims of both sexes and varying ages, I think it was 9 to adult. So we cannot be too certain about killers always fitting "their particular pattern."

Yes, I realize the "source". But he might be a little more professional than they are if JMK was his client!

Nancy Grace said that Harmon & Van Zandt aren't even licensed to practice law in Colorado, so if that's the case, how can they represent him once (and IF) he actually does get extradited there?

They can petition the Colorado Bar to represent him. It's pretty standard practice but, I doubt the Colorado Bar will find these two up to their standards.

I think he does have serious mental issues. And perhaps it is something that he's inherited. His fascination with Polly and JonBenet are icky...but too me, it seems it's all in his mind.

And those two lawyers...they seem giddy with excitement when it comes to talking about Karr. I'd also think that if they were worried about his welfare, they wouldn't be flapping their gums. It seems they like to hear themselves speak...especially the one (can't think of her name).

Jamie Harmon is the one who does all the talking.

Hey, the nose of the plane is on the Utah/Colorado state line now!

The video I taped of the last investigators's investigation of the case shows the area where JB was found wrapped in a white blanket, in the same small room is a set of windows, one which is broken and there is glass scattered into the room and on a suitcase below the windows.
IMO , JMK is a scihzophrenic and probably does believe in his own mind that he did the murder. It will certainly be interesting to see the outcome of this case.

John Mark Karr: In His Words

While in custody in Bangkok last week, John Mark Karr, the suspect in the 1996 killing of JonBenet Ramsey, spoke with Thai officials. In its new issue, PEOPLE has exclusive excerpts of the interviews.

On JonBenet's death:
The Ramseys "feel their daughter was brutally murdered, and she wasn't," Karr told a Thai official. "It looks like that but she wasn't. I want them to hear the truth. ... I need closure and (JonBenet's) family needs closure. ... All of us have gone through enough pain."

On people who doubt his guilt:
"(The media) is beginning to shut up about me being crazy and all that stuff. This is not a laughing matter, it's something serious. ... The world is not laughing as much now."

On why he confessed:
"We all need to put this chapter in place, which is a conclusion, and then start the healing. The healing is what I want to start happening. To heal and feel better about what happened."

On how he is misunderstood:
"People say I am a monster and a horrible person. They don't know me ... they won't approve of what happened. (But) I don't approve of what happened."

Did he have accomplices?
"No, I was alone."

Was this a brutal killing?
"It's not what that seemed to be."

On the DNA test:
"The DNA might not match, but you can't trust the test."

On his ex-wife giving him an alibi:
"It's normal that people in a family protect you."

On JonBenet:
"Worse than anything, JonBenet is gone. She is here only in spirit."

LOS ANGELES (AP) - John Mark Karr on Thursday began the last leg of his journey to Colorado, where he is wanted in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey.

Karr was brought from a Los Angeles County jail to Long Beach Airport, south of Los Angeles, and put aboard a waiting Colorado State Patrol airplane that took off shortly after 4 p.m. EDT. A flight plan posted on the FlightAware.com Web site said the plane's destination was the Boulder, Colo., municipal airport. The flight was expected to take slightly more than three hours.

The suspect in the 1996 slaying of the child beauty pageant princess had been jailed in Los Angeles since his return late Sunday from Thailand, where he was detained eight days ago.

In Colorado, officials said in a court filing that their investigation of Karr is still in the "very early stages," arguing that releasing details about their evidence now could taint the extensive interviews they still need to conduct.

"It is crucial that people we interview provide information that is as accurate as possible, unaffected by influences other than their own resources and their best recollections," William Nagel, Boulder County assistant district attorney, wrote.

In his 41 years, Karr has left a long trail of potential witnesses.

He was removed from teaching jobs in other countries, married a 13-year-old girl against her parents' wishes, and allegedly bragged to his Canadian landlord's family in Costa Rica that he was sexually "like a wolf."

Karr first came to the attention of authorities in Colorado and California five years ago when he emerged as a potential suspect in the murder of a 12-year-old California girl, Georgia Moses of Petaluma.

During the investigation, which ultimately led to child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges, Karr showed an "apparent fascination" with the 1996 killing of JonBenet in Boulder, Colo., and the 1993 murder of 12-year-old Polly Klaas, also in Petaluma, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

"In a few instances while he seemed to be wondering about the JonBenet Ramsey murder, he made uncertain allusions to placing himself in the killer's role," according to a statement by Lieut. Dave Edmonds.

"However, we never uncovered any 'confession' statements, overt murder evidence, or other indications that John Karr possessed secret knowledge that only the murderer of JonBenet Ramsey would know," the statement said.

The FBI helped Sonoma authorities with the investigation, and information about Karr was provided in 2001 to the investigating agencies in all those states - including Colorado.

Carolyn French, spokeswoman for Boulder County, Colo., District Attorney Mary Lacy, said Thursday that she could not comment on the report because it was "part of the investigative process and evidence."

The document says investigators discovered Karr's identity only five days before his arrest in Bangkok, and that authorities feared he might be tipped off if they didn't seize him right away.

Has anyone heard whether or not there will be a new conference in Boulder, once he arrives?

I know that nothing says that they have to say anything, but I am sure that the community is clammering for clarification, since the first news conference really said nothing except that there is a lot of work to do on the case. I am wondering if they will at least say that they have been doing some of that work.

I am still blown away that they brought him to Colorado at all, at this point. It really leads me to think that there is quite a lot that the media does not know, and has not been published regarding evidence.

Wouldn't the investigators in 2001 have known his name and wouldn't his name have been forwarded on to CO authorities at that time?

What I heard earlier is that he was going to be transported directly to the Boulder County Jail, and processed. The media is not going to be able to have any pictures of him once he arrives in Colorado. Haven't heard anything about a press conference by the DA Lacy.

**40 minutes flight time to Boulder!!

The investigation into JMK is in the early stages.

There has been a lot of speculation on him doing this for publicity alone. This may be the case but other high profile killers, Ted Kazinski, Zodiac, Son of Sam also sought publicity for their crimes and were also guilty.

JMK was sending in anonymous emails from halfway around the world and had no intentions of being arrested. He thought he was safe, then started giving some statements when arrested.

He could either be a wing nut and has nothing to do with JBR murder, or he knows the evidence against him will be compelling and he wants to confess as soon as possible for a lesser charge.

He may have wanted to get to Co as fast as possible before the case against him was complete. He would have a better chance of using his own knowledge of the crime to bargain for a lesser charge.

There is a press release from the Sonoma County sheriff's office yesterday in the "Breaking news" thread of yesterday that says that they shared the information on him with Co back in 2001.

So yes they have had some sort of file or reference on him since at least 2001.
