Wouldn't the investigators in 2001 have known his name and wouldn't his name have been forwarded on to CO authorities at that time?
Sure would've thought that! Could it be the CO authorities are an extension of the media (i.e. Nancy Grace in particular) who can't get information correct? The coverage of his departure from California is being re-run on Court tv and some of her comments are so ignorant!

Costa Rica landlord: Karr 'a pervert' (excerpts - link to article at the end)
By MARIANELA JIMENEZ, Associated Press WriterThu Aug 24, 3:53 PM ET

John Mark Karr bragged to his landlord's wife that sexually, he was "like a wolf," and said he "liked little boys and girls" when he worked in Costa Rica as an English teacher, his former housemates told The Associated Press..

......"I had to kick him out, because he was obviously a pervert, and I was worried about the safety of my wife and my stepdaughters," Hall told The Associated Press.

One stepdaughter, now 22, told The Associated Press that Karr had said several times that he liked the "little ones." The stepdaughter spoke on condition her name not be published.

Hall said that Karr would often either talk incessantly, or sit in his room and listen to dark rock music, like that of Marilyn Manson, something that also bothered the Halls, who are Pentecostal Christians.

"We started getting pretty scared," Hall said, when Karr described himself as "sexually ambiguous" in conversations with the family and even visitors to the house. Karr also said he "liked little boys and girls," and that "he thought my stepdaughter ... was cute," Hall said.

Hall said Karr never touched his wife or stepdaughters, or did anything else criminal in Costa Rica that he was aware of, so he didn't alert police. But after kicking Karr out, Hall said, he remained suspicious enough to do a computer search to see if he was a sex predator.

"I suspected he was a pedophile. I looked on the Internet to see if there was something on him, but I didn't find anything," he said.

I just thought he was "delusional" ~ now we have someone who is confirming worse. And not Marilyn Manson AGAIN.

I thought the same thing!!!!!! Oh no - it's MM! HAHAhahah, oh man. Can't WAIT to hear about this for the next ten months.

I DO have to say that I am so pleased to see that many people spotted this man for what he was and passed on his employment or being near their children.

I just wish more actually alerted authorities. Although, it seems many did.

The key paragraphs are:

Meanwhile, a past investigator of the Ramsey case, said evidence that could confirm Karr's involvement in the former beauty queen's homicide includes what was written on the first draft of the ransom note.

and:

Nagel said that despite thousands of articles and books about the slaying, "Most of the evidence in the affidavit has not been disclosed, nor has the media developed it independently."

For background on the practice ransom note, here is a 1997 article:

http://www.cnn.com/US/9701/08/slain.girl/

Excerpt:
The practice note and the actual ransom note found in the home of John and Patsy Ramsey were both written on paper from the same legal pad. The actual ransom note demanded $118,000 for the return of the girl....
The author of the actual note appeared to be attempting to disguise his or her handwriting at first, but abandoned the attempt as the note went on, unnamed sources told the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post...

From another story:
http://denver.rockymountainnews.com/extra/ramsey/0701jon.htm
"It was after he retrieved the notebook and gave it to police that a detective leafed through it and discovered a sheet with the heading "Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey" -- but no other writing. That is the complete text of the "practice" ransom note.

Note: maybe that is not the complete text of the practice ransom note.

Yes, I realize the "source". But he might be a little more professional than they are if JMK was his client!
;)

I dunno Panthera - According to Skakel, Mickey put so much effort into his media appearances he forgot to represent his client in the courtroom so either way JMK would be the loser.

Well, let's see now ~ how many murders has Marilyn Manson been connected with so far? I'm still wondering how JMK supported himself financially since his teaching jobs didn't seem to last very long. Is the pay that high in these foreign countries?

Wow - yes they are the key paragraphs. Very interesting again.

That's true, but consider the source ~ Skakel needs that "ineffective counsel" appeal! I still think JMK needs Kobe's attorney (since he's in Colorado)!

"Ramsey arrest: Thanked Lou Smit lately?

But another person she didn't thank is Lou Smit.

Click here and do a search for 'Lou' or 'Smit'. You won't find either of those words in her press release.

Lou Smit is the respected investigator who along with former prosecutor Trip DeMuth and sheriff's investigator Steve Ainsworth leaned toward the intruder theory early on. See previous story here.

Lacy's insistence that Karr must be presumed innocent, along with the omission of a nod to Smit still spell trouble for the theory that Karr did it, even as Karr arrives in Colorado.

Prosecutors don't regularly proclaim suspects as presumed innocent. It's their job to vigorously prosecute and prove a suspect guilty.

Unless they aren't sure."

Actaully Im questioning it because Investigators that worked the case 10 years ago have been on television saying they cant think of any evidence that isnt in the public domain. These were the actual folks active on the case during the primary investigation. So ya I question the possibility of hidden or secret evidence.

Well, if Karr could come up with the rest of the 50ft. package of white cord, the missing pages from the ransom note pad of paper, the rest of the duct tape roll, and the end of the broken paint brush, I think we would be on the way to believing him.

More on the practice note and the pad:

from a Nov. 22, 1997 story
http://denver.rockymountainnews.com/extra/ramsey/1122jon1.html

"There were three pages missing from the pad and on the page immediately preceding the missing three pages were the words "Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey."

So,(my speculation), in light of the current statement that Karr may have been tied to the practice note, maybe there was more on that note than the salutation, which was kept secret all these years; or: maybe he kept those three missing pages from the Ramsey's legal pad, maybe he sent them to the professor or the police found them. Maybe they were another practice note that was not left at the house, therefore no one would ever know about that one; and maybe they totally match the real note. If the paper and the pen and writing match and he owned it, that would probably be evidence. Even if it was 3 blank pages and they match the Ramsey's pad, that is evidence.

The fact that he left the one page practice note IN the pad is very unusual. Forgot it? Thought it wasn't important? Trying to make it look like the Ramseys did it? Or just toying with them?

She is all so aghast that he is allowed to wear his shirt and tie as he gets off the plane, shackled. "Why is he getting special treatment?" Must she be so ridiculous? God, there are way more important matters than what the suspect is wearing!!!! (so he got on the plane in his orange prison suit but they let him change into his outfit to get off the plane. So what?)

Now they are playing Patsy's 911 call. It's so hard to listen to, Patsy is hyperventilating. I've seen people write that she was acting, that is so impossible. The call is just incredibly upsetting to listen to. She was not acting.

I do agree with Nancy on the 2 lady lawyers's dumb comments about how engaging he was, as if they wanted to date him not defend him.

I think Nancy is losing her mind. She just said that he went onto the plane with his orange jumpsuit on and came off in his shirt and tie. Is she blind?? LOL.

I agree. That 911 call does not seem to me that she is acting. She sounds extremely distraught to me.
