The coercion of BD, by his own family.

I may have the dates wrong but I think the first one was the 13th May and the second one the 15th.

BJ..."Can I ask you a question? Why did you even go over there?"
BD..."I don't know."
BJ..."Why didn't you just call 9-1-1 or tell·me at five o'clock when I got home? Are you afraid of him?"
BD..."Well, yeah. He's ... "
(Unidentified person) "You have one minute left."
BJ..."What?"
BD..."He's stronger than me."
BJ..."Yeah. Well, if you would have came home and told me."
BD..."Yeah, but then I thought that I would have to go to jail, too."
BJ..."No, you wouldn't have."
BD..."Yeah, for knowing about it."
BJ..."You wouldn't have gotten much out of it then, Brendan, you would have been more or less a hero. She would have probably still been alive."
BD..."Yeah."
BJ"Yeah. But look at that one on TV where the alligator ate this one girl."
BD..."Yeah."
BJ..."Yeah."
BJ...(Unintelligible.) '' ... all you-- that's all you would have had to done, because I would have put you in the truck and we would have left."
BD"Yeah."

.................................

A few days later...

BJ..."Yeah. And you tell them how you gave
them statements. That's how you tell the jurors."
BD..."Yeah. But he said that he listened to the -- the statement again and that it's really hard to believe that it was well ... "
BJ..."What did you tell me, Brendan? You tell me they weren't taping at first."
BD..."Yeah."
BJ..."And they told you what happened. Remember? Remember you telling me that?"
BD..."When did I tell you that?"
BJ..."Uh --"
BD..."I told you that I was nervous. And I had a lot of stuff on my mind. So I just said stuff."
BJ..."Yeah."
BD..."Yeah. That's what I told you."
BJ..."No. You told me that they weren't taping at first."
BD..."Yeah. They didn't. And "
BJ..."And they more or less said, 'Well, isn't this what happened?'"
BD..."Yeah." "Remember you told me, well, blame it all on Mark?"
BJ..."Yeah."
BD..."Yeah."

Date unknown but this his grandfather AA. I have taken the swearing and smut out of it. From the same link as the previous post.

AA..."They come down on you. I don't give a xxxx what they do. You're going to have to be man enough right now and you stick to your 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 guns."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."And say nothing happened."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."This is -- they made me say all of this. Tell them that."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."And stick to your guns. 'Cause this is being monitored. I don't give a xxxx. But you got to understand one thing. You're a young man."
BD..."Yeah. "
AA..."And you don't want to go to prison for·the rest of your life."
BD..."No."
AA..."Don't go for a plea bargain or this and that."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."Because you do that, then you're hurting both of you guys."
BD..."Yeah .. "
AA...You understand-that, Brendan?"
BD...Yeah."
AA..."That's why I wanted to talk to you. I can't -- I don't get a chance, Brendan. I haven't talked to Steven either."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."So you hey, I -- I -- I feel sorry for where you are."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."By the -- by the way, you got the mail every day? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Brendan?"
BD..."What?"
AA..."They're -- them-- them guys are xxxxxxxx. They're xxxxxxxx."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."Every one of them. And they're --they're xxxxxxxx. And you got to keep them away from you. Don't talk to them xxxxxxxxxxx at all."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."'Cause their xxxxxxxx. And I hope and I hope they can play this son-of-a-xxxxx they'll play it back. Don't worry about that, Brendan."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."That 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Tom is a son-of-a-xxxxx and so is the other one."
BD..."Yeah. "
AA..."Yeah. I'd like to take a rope and put around their xxxxx and xxxxxx and pull them behind my truck until I rip that xxxxxxx pepper xxxxxx -- xxxxxx and the xxxxx right off."
BD..."Yeah."
AA..."Ha-ha-ha-ha-:-ha. That'll make their day, won't it?"
BD..."Yeah."

Trying to help Brendan learn to stand up to the useless pieces of chit bullies, that stole his life, for their own end game, is not "coercion". And yes, I personally would LOVE to see them dragged behind a pick up. Preferably on a nice gravelly back road!

Seems to me that the family recognised right away that Brendan was coerced and they were doing what they could for him.

Everything said needs context too. We also know that the call with his mother happened after that ridiculous meeting he had with O'Kelley, and then LK allowing BD to be interviewed without a lawyer present, and then Weigert and Fassbender making sure he called his mom to tell her before they did (of course so it would be recorded).

Yep, his family was on to them, especially Grandpa IMO

Oh yes!
Add to that my friend, this wasn't their first rodeo with their family being railroaded by law enforcement.
I'd be pissed too.
All just moo

I was thinking about that too... in the last 31-32 years, SA's parents have been fighting for 29-30 yrs for their son's freedom, and the last 11-12 for BD's. I wonder if that whole family panics when they see a cop car in their rearview mirror, or anywhere near their property. I would.

Crazy.

BJ..."And they told you what happened. Remember? Remember you telling me that?"
BD..."When did I tell you that?"
BJ..."Uh --"
BD..."I told you that I was nervous. And I had a lot of stuff on my mind. So I just said stuff."

BD didn't go along with his mother's 'version'. He was very capable of resisting what he knew wasn't true.

"Yeah." "Remember you told me, well, blame it all on Mark?"

What I see is a conversation between a mother and a disabled child. If you heard some of the conversations around here with my Autistic boy~~it would sound exactly like that~~doesn't make my boy a murderer any more than it does BD.

I agree with your post! And I'd like to add that a convo like this could occur with any teen, IMO. They are clueless about communication , IMO. They will disseminate, just to make their questioners leave them alone. Tons of research has been done on the teen aged brain. The newest research shows the teen brain is not even fully developed until age 25. I can provide a link if needed, but I think this is pretty common knowledge. Anyone who has lived with a teen knows exactly what I am talking about. they can make you crazy with their illogical reasoning and responses. :crosseyed:

Having had experience with Autistic children, I do. I see him as a high functioning Autistic child. There are some tall tale signs in those videos. For instance, he doesn't like to make eye contact. My son does that. I asked the language therapist why she doesn't force him to make eye contact and she said because she wants him to concentrate on the formation of his words. From then on~~I never made him make eye contact.

I think you should dig in a little bit more~~you'll see it too. PBS had a great documentary with one of their reporters who's grandson is Autistic, its a 7 or 8 part series. I can't remember what it was called, but it was very enlightening.

By the way~~ 1 in 67 children in the US will be diagnosed with Autism. No one in my family has a disability or anything like that~~when my son was diagnosed~~I was in shock and had a tremendous learning curve to learn about this disability.

He has an IQ of 70. He is mildly intellectually disabled whether you choose to see it that way or not.

I agree with you.

That being said.... your link gave me flashbacks to a former life ;-) I used to be a coder. Although the link doesn't provide proof of his disability, I think there is enough information out there to prove it. These codes are used by Health Information agencies, CIHI here in Canada, for statistical purposes, which is what governments and health care systems rely on :)

That's cool, Missy. I am considering taking some classes in medical coding. It seems like a versatile career but it might be a bit dry! How did you like it?

It's a bit different here than in the States, I took a 2 year course that included coding, and it just happened to be "my thing", I have a good memory, it worked well for saving time with looking stuff up. In the U.S., I believe you can take just coding courses, without all the pathophysiology, pharmacology, biology, statistics, etc. classes (not sure how that works though because you have to understand the medical issues to know what to code lol)

I loved it! Now that my kids are older, I have considered going back but not many job opportunities here, and I'm not willing to commute 45 minutes to a bigger city. ahhh the things we give up for marriage and kids! LOL

Good luck if you go that route :)

IMO Dassey was a pawn of his uncle and it's his uncle's fault that he ever got involved in this horrible crime. On his own I do not believe Dassey would have hurt anyone. IMO Dassey had a conscience and, according to his cousin who went and talked to the guidance counselor assistant at school when she was worried about him, what Dassey allegedly saw was tearing him up and he was suffering. The cousin said nothing about a girlfriend. She spoke about blood and a body and concrete.
