What about the "stranger in the Suburban" that took her friend Jessica home?

  • #62
I recall an unusual case that was featured on, "Unsolved Mysteries" where a rapist abducted a young woman from the woman's front lawn at night. The woman was outside on their front lawn with her female roommate close to their own house. The rapist took her away raped her and drove her back and dropped her off close to her home.

I imagine that this slime returned the one young woman to her home after raping her was used to help to, "profile" him.

One thing that sticks in my mind is that he attacked two women who lived blocks from each other. Attackers often attack within their, "comfort zone". I think it is possible that this scum lives or works near that area, or he knows (or has known) someone and visits (or visited)someone near where both young women were attacked/abducted. I also imagine that they may have enlisted the help of a geographic profiler for this aspect.

Isn't that what LE said? That's how they got his DNA and a description.

Dee, Yes the suburban dude and Ian have been cleared.

Where is the composite sketch!? I have the utmost confidence in LE's abilities but damn, you'd think there'd be SOMETHING by now!!!

ETA: Nevermind. "The UNR student who was assaulted did not see his face but said she saw a baby shoe inside her attacker's truck." http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080129/NEWS01/801290351/1321/NEWS

DAMN! :(

Dee, I was disappointed that the one victim didn't get a look at his face as well.

He abducted, took away, raped, then returned her, and she didn't see his face. I don't think that was coincidental. I think he may have been smart enough to somehow keep her from seeing his face. But, yet he wasn't too careful about keeping his DNA to himself. I wonder if this points to him either being cocky, being a somewhat disorganized attacker or both.

I meant that his actions, specifically returning the one rape victim to her home after attacking her may have been included with the information used to profile his personality and predator type. Sorry if I wasn't to clear about, "profile" versus, "DNA.":)

This looks like a series of attacks focused on college girls in a particular geographic location. It may be further focused on body type.

The perp may very well be white, early thirties, married, one child, employed, loner but semi-socialable (sp). He is very disconnected to reality. He is manipulative. Is showing a chronological pattern to his attacks as in a continued cycle of events that escalates his disconnect, tolorance for risk, and increase in intensity.

He has to be getting very nerveous and feeling like its all "crashing down". Depending on his level of arrogance, he may turn himself in soon.

It's quite possible that Brianna KNEW her attacker, according to statistics presented in the article below.

Predators seek vulnerabilities JACLYN O'MALLEY
RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL
Posted: 1/29/2008

Sexual predators rely on two factors: opportunity and the isolation of their victim, said a national safety expert.

"The one thing a predator needs to be successful, if they know you or not, is privacy, control and isolation," said Mathew Obenaus, co-founder of Virginia-based SAFEU, which uses education to empower citizens against sexual predators.

(SNIP)

"He said those who prey on strangers are rare and that about 90 percent of these offenders are known to their victims. He said they use interaction with their victims as a setup for sexual abuse. By testing boundaries, they are able to see how far they can go. They also use charm and manipulation."

Hi dee, the sad thing is Brianna probably did know her attacker, like I stated in my other post, he's a loner, not very attractive has low self esteem and perhaps she felt sorry for him. She probably went out of her way to be nice to him, perhaps engaging him in small talk. He could be a bag boy at the local grocery store, pizza place or local mechanic.

I agree, Dad. I think your perception is very good, but I hope that his need to escalate did not include murder. If he is married or lives with a gf, then if Brianna is still alive where might she be? I don't mean to be unnecessarily negative, but it is highly possible that Brianna didn't survive.

I have thought and posted here that he must live close by the victims. I am rethinking that now. I hate to flip flop but would it make sense to be that risky?

I am changing my mind and now believe that while he lives in the Reno area, he does not live in the neighborhood. However, I bet that he does work within 5-15 minutes of the neighborhood. He "scouts" it out before, during, or after work.

If that assumption is correct, where could he be employed within that proximity and those hours? Anyone that familar with Reno?

Lion, I concur, while I hope and pray she is alive, it is most likely she is not.

ITA, I don't think he lives in neighborhood, I think he holds down job that would give access to area also. I have been to Reno lots of times, thing is where Brianna was taken from is residential, but 10 minutes from there is business district, casinos, bars, hotels.

Yet, he went back to within blocks of the same area a second time. It is not uncommon for serial rapists/killers abduct their victims within a one mile or so range. But, for this slime to have attacked two within blocks of each other seems to indicate that he possibly has a strong tie to that particular area--even more so and more specific than an attacker who chooses two victims one mile apart.

Personally I don't think she knew him, but that's just a gut feel...but I think something recent has triggered his attacks...maybe a recent breakup or major rejection, separation from wife/gf (and maybe child).

I can't ignore two items...the child's shoe in his truck and the fact that the teddy bear was taken...he may have taken the teddy bear to give to his child. But then it would be really difficult to get Brianna out of the house (alive or dead) and carry a very large teddy bear at the same time. Maybe he came back and got the bear???

It could be that he considers it to be "target rich".

Where/what are the main suburbs in the area for an income of 30k to 60k?

  • #75
I'm not speculating that he most likely lives in that very neighborhood. I am speculating that it is possible that he has an at least fairly strong tie to that direct area. But, that tie may or may not involve him living in that immediate area. He could work near to the victim's homes, haves a close friend or relative that he visits in that area, have a gf in that area, or he might even live in that area.

I think he targets girls he know's he wouldn't have chance with, just thinking out loud...

Good question, Dad. Does anyone have a map that we can place two markers on the victims' residence and see what is around there? We would need the street addresses of both residences.

1395 Mackay court is where Brianna was taken from, not sure of the other.

I think so too, paddy. I've seen Brianna's pic, and she is a very pretty young lady. I wonder how close in description the other victim is to Brianna's.

I think other victim was asian, I believe it was mentioned earlier, I'll bet she had long dark hair and was small frame, sounds like Brianna doesn't it?Could be what creep looks for in a victim.
