Bristol Palin Pregnant Again

  • #101
I, myself, struggled for ten years with infertility and then was blessed with a very risky pregnancy which resulted in the greatest blessing of my whole life.

I have also had friends and family who had "oops" babies who turned out to be the light of their parent's lives! My SIL actually considered terminating her last pregnancy. She already had 3 under 7, and the pregnancy was medically pretty scary.

Still, she and her husband chose to have and embrace this baby and he is the joy of the WHOLE family, not just mom and dad.

The thing is, in either circumstance, I never heard a parent call their soon-to-be baby a "disappointment". My heart breaks for that baby. I hope after this public statement that CPS will check in to make sure there is no abuse (PPP,PPD, whatever).

I musta flicked past this reply yesterday and came back and reread

crazy... My Aug 17 babe was also a risky one... Hospitalised at 24 weeks released at 30+5 and re hospitalised 12 hours later, 5 days later my son arrived..

Wouldn't change anything about him/the pregnancy or the aftermath of it all... I am a stronger woman for the pain endured :)

I will admit I haven't followed Bristol Palin. I find it hard to believe she preaches sex is sinful outside of marriage or that rape victims or a disintegration of our moral fabric. If you have a link supporting these claims I would very much appreciate it. I usually try to google before asking for a link and was surprised my google search led me to the following:

From August 2014:

The daughter of former Alaska governor and one-time Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has filed paperwork to try and get child support payments dating back nearly two years from Levi Johnston, her former fiance and the father of her son Tripp, five.

Bristol claims in the paperwork that her 2013 income was zero dollars, and so far in 2014 it's zero as well.

From June 2015:
I know you remember me most from when Mom ran for Vice President. However, I’m not 17 anymore, I am 24. I’ve been employed at the same doctor’s office for over six years now; I own a home; I have a well-rounded, beautiful son.
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/bristolpalin/2015/06/my-little-blessing/#more-8780

How come her mother didn't raise a stink when her daughter's employer failed to pay her for at least 20 months?

This is dated June 2013:
When I have to work I’m up at around 4:30AM to get myself ready and to make sure Tripp has everything he needs for the day. Once I’ve gotten Tripp up and dressed it’s time to de-ice the car and then we’re off. I try to get us out of the house by 6:30AM but that doesn’t necessarily always happen. I drop Tripp off at either daycare or my parent’s house and then it’s an hour commute for me into Anchorage for work. ...
I work at a dermatology office in Anchorage, as a doctor’s assistant.

Who gets up at 4:30 and commutes for two hours every day to get to a job that she gets no income from?
She also contradicts herself quite a bit regarding whether her family is a great help and she couldn't do without them as a single mother, or whether she does everything herself and doesn't accept anyone's help.

Also from her blog, About me section:
I’m also the author of my memoir Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far, which reached the New York Times Best Sellers List

Yeah... except she didn't actually write it:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/0711/Meet_Bristol_Palins_ghostwriter_.html

There are people online saying that she doesn't actually write (most of) her own blog either and while I don't know if it's true I can believe it because her writing style in the pregnancy announcement posts appears a bit different from some of the pro-life posts in there.

It might be a little hard to distinguish what is Bristol preaching and what is Sarah Palin's team preaching by her mouth.

Time is ripe for a Bristol Palin rebirth
http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifes...t-herself-balancing-0629-20150629-column.html
I'd love to hear her say:

"I'm pregnant.

"I'm also done peddling other people's visions for my life. I'm a 24-year-old soon-to-be-mother of two, and I don't need to explain how I feel about that because it's none of your business.

"But I will say this, and I speak from experience: Telling young women to abstain from sex until marriage is a fool's errand.

The Case For Leaving Bristol Palin Alone
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/29/leave-bristol-palin-alone_n_7687376.html
Some people who feel sorry for Palin have questioned how much agency she actually has in this situation. They wonder if she feels forced into having this child because of her mother's rhetoric and the "values" of the Republican Party. Of course, only Palin can know her true feelings on the subject. Her June 26 blog post announcing the pregnancy was sad in tone, but in an update, Palin wrote that the baby was planned and that she is looking forward to being a mother of two. And that's all we really need to know.

Even the blog posts themselves left me questioning how much agency she has... It was all about her reacting to other people. The first announcement was even introduced saying she wouldn't post yet if it wasn't for online trolls (that she doesn't even know) and then it was all about the apparent disappointment she felt she was to her family and friends (and mom's political team?) and the "this baby was planned" update was aimed at online commenters that she doesn't even know, making a political talking point about how this is all a great cross to bear but I'm not aborting this baby because I'm so pro-life.

Hopefully she can find herself and separate her real values and thoughts from GOP talking points.
It might be a good idea to take a break from blogging, TV, interviews and reading internet comments for a bit.

I don't follow BP, but did see the announcement on her pregnancy.

After reading through the posts here and the links, I get the feeling that the great disappointment is by Bristol herself. She is only using her parents as someone to pass that disappointment off on rather than admit the truth.

Remember at the time Sarah Palin was nominated and the questioning as to whom the first baby belonged to? Each to his own, but I believe that was Bristol's baby that the Palins took under their wing. So then Bristol immediately had Tripp with fiancé that never led to marriage.

To me, Bristol was thrilled she was going to be married, have a husband, a home, and start a real family which included Tripp. Every girl's dream and for her a dream that had been difficult to reach. She got pregnant before the wedding then something happened and the wedding was called off. Disaster!! Here Bristol is again, pregnant, no fiancé and devastated! It is Bristol facing all the demons here, broken promises, future turned upside down, raising another baby without the love and help from it's father.

Looking at Bristol's position from this standpoint, it is easy to see where she is disappointed in herself. Who wouldn't be? Nothing is as planned. Her life is royally messed up in her thinking, but as we all know, it will be all right. For a 24 year old, this is a nightmare. It was a difficult decision to share with the public. It is her life, it is what it is, and people have no business telling her nasty remarks.

My opinions only!

I don't think she planned anything. I thinks she got backlash for calling her pregnancy news a "huge disappointment," so she came back with "it was planned" thing.
Also, if ex-fiancée is the baby daddy, why not announce it? I remember when she was pregnant with Tripp, they paraded the first baby daddy (Levi) around, even bringing him to the convention. They certainly weren't hiding who the baby daddy was.

In general, I agree with you, to a point. As someone who was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote, basically, a pro-abstinence message (one she did not follow herself, and has since called unrealistic), she was basically shaming thousands of teenage girls who had sex before marriage. I think that her subsequent hypocrisy is also a valid reason for people to be critical of her.

As for having a baby out of wedlock, planned or not -- that, in itself, is no reason for anyone to make nasty remarks towards her. It's more about the context of what I mentioned above.

RSBM.

Her comment about abstinence being unrealistic was in 2009, long before her second pregnancy. Also, I haven't seen where she has shamed any teenaged girls.

The unrealistic comment was before she made the public abstinence pledge and got paid for promoting it, not after.

Probably closer to her real views...

This^, and she has made so many nasty, judgemental, public statements regarding the choices and morals of other people, that it sickens me.

If she wants to keep her pretty glass house, she should put down the pebbles.

Dakota Meyer seeks joint custody of child with Bristol Palin

By MARK THIESSEN, AP

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A Medal of Honor winner is seeking joint custody of the child he had out of wedlock with Bristol Palin, a former reality television personality and daughter of 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Dakota Meyer filed a lawsuit against Bristol Palin in Alaska Superior Court on Monday seeking joint custody of their child, Sailor Grace Palin. The child was born Dec. 23.

"Dakota couldn't be more excited to be a new father and the best dad that he can be," his lawyer, Kimberlee Colbo, said in an email to The Associated Press...

Levi Johnston Wins Custody Battle Against Bristol Palin After Seven Years and "Around $100,000" in Legal Fees

Zach Johnson, eonline

Levi Johnston 's perseverance paid off.

Bristol Palin 's former fiancé took to Facebook Tuesday to announce that they have finally reached a custody agreement over their son, Tripp Johnston, now 7. In 2009, Levi announced that he was going to sue his high school sweetheart for joint custody of Tripp after alleging that the entire Palin family was making it difficult for him to see his son. The exes reached a child custody stipulation in 2010, allowing Levi to see Tripp on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. The court never approved Levi and Bristol's agreement, however, so it never became finalized. The case was dismissed in 2012 for lack of activity. Then, in 2013, Levi filed a petition in which he sought at least equal custody of Tripp...

Bristol Palin Says She Did Not "Lose" Custody of Tripp to Levi Johnston: "Every Child Deserves Two Loving Parents"

Zach Johnson, eonline

The real winner here is Tripp Johnston.

Levi Johnston took to Facebook Tuesday to announce that after spending seven years and "around $100,000" in legal fees, he and ex-fiancée Bristol Palin are " successfully co-parenting ." Levi did not detail the specifics of their arrangement, though he did admit to owing "some back child support" and added that he has "always been there" for Tripp, 7, and his two daughters, Breeze Johnston, 3, and Indy Johnston, 13 months, with Sunny Oglesby, his wife of three years...
