British Man - Michael Frison missing in Sardinia, 13 July 2024

His shorts, T-shirt and trainers were later found on a wall near the volunteer site. His phone, laptop and identity documents were left in his rucksack inside his tent.

Italian police have called off their search, but his mother, Cristina Pittalis, has said that she will continue looking for him alone.

[...]

She said that during their searches, police dogs had not picked up Frison’s scent, dead or alive, which she said she took as a positive sign.

[...]

“[He] was hoping to do some volunteering work but when he arrived he was very tired, not used to the heat and was possibly dehydrated,” she said.

“He went to sleep, and the following day, he was visibly confused. So they gave him water and let him sit in the shade. But he said he would go for a little walk and he hasn’t been seen since. It’s quite an impervious area.”

Frim the article above:

“MP for Yeovil, Adam Dance, made his first intervention in the House of Commons on 30 July to ask the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office to urge the Italian authorities to continue their search.

In a statement, Mr Dance said: "…We now have government attention which has led to further involvement both in the UK and in Italy to help Michael's mother Cristina find out what has happened to her son."”

The mother of a British man who disappeared on holiday in Sardinia is continuing her desperate search without police support.
How sad she has to look alone.
She really needs to get herself on TV news channels and engage with Tiktok, Youtube Live, etc to get the story put from her perspective.
She desperately needs to drum up the interest and news Stations can help and TokTok and YouTube definately give her more control and she can ask people to post and help in the search etc.

Michael's mother, Cristina Pittalis has been hunting in 40C heat for him.

"I don't want to give up," she told ITV News. "I can't give up. That's absolutely out of the question. There is no where I'm going back. If I stop searching for my son, my personal feeling, is that no one else will be out there looking for him."

[...]

Cristina is also being helped by a small team in Bristol - including family friend Claire.

Claire said: "You assume in the early days that something is going to be found or he would have been found physically. So it is a worry. The main thing is the terrain, it's so vast. And it's so hot out - over 40C."

Interpol and Avon and Somerset Police are both involved, but the Italian authorities are leading on the inquiry.

You would think by this point he would have made contact to reassure someone in his family he was ok. It’s troubling that he hasn’t even contacted his grandparents- a letter is not particularly traceable. It does lead me to question if he has been prayed on due to some vulnerability.

There’s a 4 part podcast come out featuring Muchael’smum. You get to hear the exchange of messages from Michael with his female friend. Its deep and complex. A couple of things on the msg exchange was the blue whale challenge and Noa Pothoven (on Wikipedia). The last part was mentioning the signs that this may now be moved to a criminal investigation. Really is a must listen.

Very interesting indeed.

I’ve just finished the second episode of this podcast, such a strange and worrying disappearance. I do vaguely remember hearing or seeing something about Michael’s disappearance back in the summer, but I believe at the time there was the huge media focus on Jay Slater and also Michael Mosley going missing, I wonder if that’s why this case wasn’t publicised more in the media?

Also surprised to see barely any posts on here about Michael’s disappearance, I wonder why it hasn’t had more attention?

If they'd have got a thermal equipped helicopter up the first night this man went missing they'd have found him easily. Sardinia is tiny, you can drive from one side of the Island to the other in an hour. Ridiculously incompetent by the police.

‘I will never give up’: mother seeks new clues about British son missing in Sardinia
“Cristina Pittalis urges mystery woman to come forward to help find son Michael, last seen in July”

Article in today’s Guardian.
I saw this, it is a very strange story.

Pittalis last spoke to Michael on 12 July. According to accounts given to police and Pittalis by Niomi and the farm owner, Michael returned from a walk the next morning in a confused state of mind, possibly due to heat-stroke. They put him in the shade and gave him water, only for him to go for a second walk and never come back.

The shorts, T-shirt and trainers he had been wearing were found about 200 metres away, meaning he would have walked off in his underwear. All his other clothes, documents, laptop and mobile phone were found in the tent where he had been sleeping.

His mum thinks that he would not have gone for a walk in just his underwear, also because the terrain is very rough and not suited to that. It's a shame that Niomi won't talk to Michael's mum. Could he have taken something? If he had been "taken" as his mum suggests, would there not have been signs of a struggle?

I believe that Michael's mum has reached out to this woman's relatives on Jersey and they have been unhelpful. I hope that this piece, in a Jersey publication, will influence them to help - Michael's mum is desperate for answers.

Noting:

Ms Pittalis said her son had travelled to a farm in a region called Gallura with the young woman from Jersey, who he had met at a swimming pool where he worked as a swimming teacher back in the UK.

Ms Pittalis said she had met Niomi in person when she went looking for Mr Frison in Sardinia in July, but has not had any contact with her since.

The BBC article in post 58 says he met the girl at a swimming pool where he was giving lessons. The Sun article in post 59 says they met online. That is a rather large discrepancy.

Per The Sun article, Michael's mother is very interested in talking to Niomi, the girl he was travelling with. They were staying on the farm of a German couple. She mentioned, in The Sun article, that she felt something nefarious happened there. Is she satisfied with the responses from the German couple? There really isn't much mention of them. However, most of the article centers on Niomi and trying to get in contact with her.
