I never said that what her parents said IS true. I just said I don't think they would be irresponsible or foolish enough to make these claims when they can be easily verified via court documents. I mean, if it comes out in the end that what they are saying never happened, what will they say then? It just doesn't make sense that they would make stuff up in regards to the court proceedings. It's all documented.

ETA: AK's parents say it has been verfied that they did DL movies. So which experts are telling the truth? The conflicts of evidence in this case don't bother you, Linas?
I see the "conflict" of evidence as liars changing their stories, haven't seen any other conflicts. I think the guilty people are right where they belong- in jail. AK's parents are just her mouth-pieces spouting her lies, much like Cindy and George Anthony did and Jackie and Lee Peterson did.

Meredith Kercher, of course, must have sexually assaulted herself, crushed her own windpipe and slashed her own throat, since all three defendants insist they're innocent.

It's interesting that in Europe this case is referred to as the Meredith Kercher case, but in the US it's called the Amanda Knox case.

Well only one of these defendents left his semen and other dna at the crime and admitted sex with the victim.

We don't know that Amanda's DNA and/or Raf's wasn't there! I don't believe Guede did it alone, they were there, Amanda let both guys in, at minimum she heard the screams and did nothing to stop it! She's as guilty as Guede and so is Raf, and the Italian court agrees with me!

My personal knowledge of the Italians is that they treat women like Queens. Italy is NOT Afghanistan!

I actually wasn't talking about Afghanistan when I made the comments about women being imprisoned for being raped, fwiw.

My point wasn't about Italian men or Italy, it was about police misconduct.
Specifically, wearing down people to get false confessions.

It happens in many police departments in many countries, do you not believe that? I am not sure it happened here because I cannot review the interview but I am highly suspicious.

Younger people who are not accustomed to dealing with law enforcement are much more vulnerable.
I thank Nova for providing the earlier links, haven't had time to read them.

To respond to your general statement that you feel some of the comments are racist towards Italians, I would like to respond so you know that is not where I am coming from.
Without getting into it in detail, I grew up in a predominantly Italian neighbourhood. My child attended a private Catholic highschool- over 80% kids of Italian descent. I would be the last person to be putting down Italians. That is laughable to me.

But police misconduct whether you're white, black brown or green I'll cut down anytime and I won't close my eyes to the possibility until I am proven otherwise because it does happen.

I have no doubt police can wear people down. I am also more than aware that people can lie to save there own skins after brutally murdering someone.

I don't think we will ever find out what exactly happened.
Guede was telling some bizarre story how he was in the house when someone else killed Meredith (which the jury obviously didn't believe), while Rafaelle apparently said he doesn't know if Amanda was at his house that night.
And Amanda, as we know, told some stories to the police implicating her innocent boss (although she claims it was under duress).
She admits she smoked pot (or hashish). I wonder if she actually remembers what happened.

I am sorry but as ive already said. I now know where Amanda got the ability to lie so well.

For the record..i have said i firmly believe Guede is involved. Like i firmly believe that Amanda is involved. Guede had issues and was afraid Amanda would frame him so he asked for a fast track trial. I figure he confessed she was there because he was fed up of being the only one to take the can while little Miss Smily kept trying to get out of it.

Surely you yourself can reread this post and understand why it seems so random to some of us. Each of the accused has made conflicting statements. How do you decide that one statement or another is suddenly completely true and accurate? Is it only because the statement is damning to AK?

BTW, how do you know why RG asked for a fast track trial? I'm not demanding a citation, I'm just wondering whether the info comes from something RG said, something his lawyer said or something opined by a commentator.

They don't have to be stupid to be arrogant, just like Scott Peterson's parents or the Anthonys! One thing I know is a lie in these transcripts, is that Raf didn't download the movie Amalie on his computer and that has been verified. All these parents are doing is re-spouting Amanda's lies. Just because it's the parents saying them, doesn't make them true.

In fact, one of the links provided by Isabelle--an excellent and very-pro-prosecution link, BTW--says the evidence from the computer is disputed and ambiguous.

It may be that AK's parents tend to believe whatever evidence exonerates their daughter, but can we really blame them for that? We see WS posters (no doubt including myself) do the same thing all the time.

It was specified on our news why he wanted a fast track trial. I assume it would have been on yours also.

As for Guede without a shadow of a doubt i believe all 3 were there. I just personally think Guede was fed up of taking the can for all of them and knew he had to speak out so he wasnt the only one to go down for it.

I read something a while ago and because i no longer have a link i will not post it here. But personally i think they know exactly what happened to Meredith or at least that there precious daughter was involved.

By the way something else where i think the parents are wrong. There saying if she had gone to Germany she couldnt have been extradited back to Italy. Well IMO she would have been had the Italians requested it.

I'd hope European countries have extradition treaties with each other. Amanda also isn't a German citizen, so why wouldn't Germany extradite her?

As Linask said..it has been documented that the BF was NOT downloading films that night. It was after being confronted by the police with that information that he then said he didnt know where Amanda had spent the night.

Is that what he said? Or did he admit at some point that he couldn't know for sure that she had stayed in his apartment the entire night?

Not the same thing.

Just like AK's speculation that RS could have put a knife in her hand while she slept, this RS statement sounds like a response to a police challenge.

To wit:

LE: "Well, your fingerprints are on the murder weapon. How did that happen?" (Or worse: "If you can just explain those fingerprints, we can clear you.")

AK: "Uh, I don't know. Maybe Rafi put the knife in my hand while I was asleep?"

THIS IS RELEASED TO THE PRESS AS: "AK changes story, claims RS framed her!"

And:

LE: "You claim Amanda was with you all night. How do you know? Did you stay up all night and watch her?!"

RS: "Well, no. I was asleep part of the time."

THIS IS RELEASED TO THE PRESS AS: "RS recants AS alibi!"

These are mere inventions of mine, of course, but they are based on actual taped interrogations I've seen. But neither AK nor RS can know what happened while they slept.

Is there any reason I should believe the statements in this case were produced differently and should carry more weight?

Then why not say something more damning? Like "I was in the bathroom and the girls starting arguing, so I left"?

As for someone on TV revealing RG's legal strategy, we have literally hundreds of talking heads on American channels who will be happy to explain it to us.

They are all guessing.

Unless the info came from the defendant or his lawyer, why would we believe it?

Actually she wrote that in her prison diary iirc. It was nothing to do with police questioning so NO that wasnt why she put that at all.

And however you want to put it..i think MOST of us would know who had or hadnt slept in our bed at such a important time. Its not something you would forget easily.

To be honest i have no idea. Apparently her parents said on LKL she wouldnt have been extradited had she fled to Germany. I think these days most countries have a extradition warranty with each other.
