I'm kind of puzzled as to how they "know" there will be a verdict reached today, and can even plan on announcing it at a certain time. Isn't it usually a surprise when the jury reaches their final decision, i.e. the families, etc., are called to court on the spur of the moment?

As a parent who has sent 2 kids abroad to school, I can't imagine them not ever coming home.
