The pink stuff is Luminol reacting with the blood that's been cleaned up and hidden to the naked eye. There are pictures back in this thread that show what AK would have seen just before taking her shower. It looks clean.

After the Polizi spray the room with Luminol the pink stuff appears showing where blood had been before a cleaning.

IMO, they cleaned up the bathroom before calling the cops.

does the luminol show a true representation of the blood or is it picking up trace amounts, as in a speck here or there?

and did they clean up the bathroom or did whatshisname?

I'm only playing devil's advocate

I'm old enough to remember life pre and post internet and man the internets great.

I remember calling it magical to a friend when I got my first internet hookup and he was explaining how it all worked. I was using dialup that took all day to load pages back then.

You know you're getting old when you use the following phrase; Kids today don't know how lucky they are.

HEY! HEY! GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

[respectfully snipped & bbm]

hehe that's funny ... listen, I'm old enough to remember when pc's first hit the market for public consumption

my friend's dad was showing his off & I distinctly remember thinking it was a really fancy word processor

and yes, the internet is a magical thing :dance:

I kinda can't believe what I'm reading here. At any rate, I am really not convinced by the evidence against Knox. At all. I am assuming that everyone has read the facts from both sides, correct? And I mean ALL the facts. Exhaustively. From end to end. Because really, that's the only way you should feel comfortable making definitive judgment call and condemning her. I know that this is a site about justice and people here are passionate about it; I am, too. But there's no justice in putting an innocent person behind bars, or finding someone guilty without having rock solid evidence to prove it. Being condemned for life is for those who are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, and I'm just not convinced by the evidence. I think the Perugian police did a crummy job of maintaining the integrity of the crime scene, I think they're more interested in saving face and saying that justice has been served, and I think a whole lot of people are buying into the sensationalism of this story and just blurting out their knee-jerk reactions.

Do I KNOW that Amanda is innocent? Of course not. But nobody's done a very good job of proving otherwise. I feel sadness for Kercher's family but if Amanda Knox and Raffaelle Sollecito have been convicted of a crime they didn't commit, then there are three victims here.

The "pink" color is not blood, its luminal. While the picture may be misleading, the jury was shown both the "pre-luminal" and the "post luminal" photos so they knew what was going on. The phots prove there had recently been a great deal of blood; both Merideth's and Amanda's that had been cleaned up. There could have been an "innocent" explaination for this but there was also very strong evidence that Amanda bought "cleaning supplies" at 7:45 that morning.

Sorry, but Luminol is not pink. It's a white powdery compound typically mixed with hydrogen peroxide.

Yeah! and her "well deserved pizza" WTH???????????

In fairness maybe its hard work trying to remember the different versions of her lies that made her hungry.

Personally i dont think i would want a pizza for ages if my room house mate...my supposed friend got murdered.

And not to forget the knife that did not match.
The knife- which came from Raf's apartment, and contained Amanda's DNA on the handle, and Meredith's on the tip!

Amanda Knox: 'She-Devil' or Victim of Anti-Americanism?

snipped

Perugia is quite a beautiful Umbrian college town, birthplace of Perugino – duh – and home to Pinturicchio. It's where they make those little individually wrapped chocolates called "Baci,'' which means "kisses" in Italian. Just like bubble gum that comes wrapped in a comic, every candy comes wrapped in a smoochy quote. I bought my husband his wedding ring there, on our honeymoon, which is a whole other story.

But Perugia is also, alas, where a 21-year-old British student named Meredith Kercher was brutally murdered in 2007, a crime for which Kercher's young American roommate, Amanda Knox of Seattle, was convicted and sentenced to 26 years in prison on Saturday.

Absolutely, makes no sense that Amanda Knox would murder her friend, her roommate over a job. A job that she was not in jeopardy of losing.

Meredith was possibly going to be added to the staff because of a drink she made.

Actually, according to Patrick Lumumba, yes he was about to fire Amanda for being too flirty with the customers!

That's because, from reading your posts, you clearly have a conscience and sense of empathy.

That's exactly what her e-mails lack.

If it were me and I was really innocent..... I am certain my lengthy e-mail would be all about the victim, how horrible it was, how bad I felt for her family and friends, who could do such a thing...and my desire to go HOME where I could feel safe and be embraced by my family.....

Her e-mail was simply her attempt at getting her lies straight (lol) and documenting them while attempting to explain away evidence. Because she lacks a conscious, she never even realized just how OFF she comes off. Talking about herself, classes, finding another place to live, how she had no clothes, well deserved pizza...on and on................it seems the brutal murder, of a "friend" , right where she was living... was nothing more than a slight inconvenience that happened TO HER.

You have a point actually. If someone in the house i was living in was brutally murdered i wouldnt be trying to find another place to live or classes or pizza. I would be more worried about trying to get as far away from there as possible. I really dont think i could stay living in that area.

HI ...the cleaning supply "reciept" for am found at Rafaels apt is very "telling" for me...after the store clerk claims to see amanda in the cleaning products aisle

notice in her "email" she doesn't say that they never did call police...the "postal police" were called by an elderly neighbor who found the 2 cellphones in her yard, and they were returning them as the Italian girl's phone apparently linked to that address

Rafaelle's phone records do show that shortly before the police arrived he phone the consigliare....asking for his older sister, who is a police officer..and left a message for her

he also called 112 (their 911) BUT DID NOT MAKE A REPORT>... the call was less than a minute...and the postal police claim it was made after they showed up

at what point were they going to call police??

~~~~~~~~
The "window' is a huge factor for me....it was broken OUTWARD....a lot of glass on the window sill and on the ground (some 15 feet below)...the house is old...with a very slanted roof and overhanging eave...one would have to be a "spiderman" to climb up there and over the overhang and go in under the window..just can't be done...so why was it broken??
Interesting that on the side where Amanda slept the hillside is closer the window...so she might have forgotten that her roommates window was on the side of the "hillside" that was a 15 foot drop to the ground <grin>
I think there was a lot of amateur coverup and amateur "details" that later tripped them up
for instance...Rafaelle made a big show of "I was home on the computer, watching the french movie "Amalie" on the computer...and his comupute shows he was not on that night, did not download the movie
he said that Amanda was there..then said she wasn't (some months later)
after holding on to a lie about Patrick (even claiming that she heard Meredith's screams, had her fingers in her ears) Amanda came to court and recanted in the courtroom...(no interrogation or hitting there)....and right there told a new story...that she was sleeping at Rafaelles...he must have "left" and gone to her house and raped and killed Meredith, came back and stuck the knife in HER hand while she was sleeping to get her dna on it
IMHO>>> they did a LOT of coverup that came back to "bite" them
Rudy>>> yes, Amanda has admitted to knowing Rudy
and I read one report where Rudy "came on" to Meredith in one of the pubs...telling her she was beautiful but didn't look" not one bit English"...she apparently told him she was "mixed" *her words? Half "English" and half Indian (from India Indian)
Meredith had a guy she was dating...a guitar player...Italian...she was not playing the field like Amanda was
there was "bad blood" between the girls..regarding the men that Amanda brought home (some scared Meredith she told her pals)...and Amanda's slovenly ways
I can see a situation where they brought Rudy home...in exchange for drugs and party...told him "let's party"....maybe told Meredith to stop being so "stuck up" and began to force her
There are some telling factors about Meredith's body.....some knife points under her chin like someone was holding a knife or glass shard/s there to intimidate her...
bruises on her jawbones...like someone was holding her or forcing her
she was (at some point) forced to her knees from what they can tell
someone crushed her windpipe (partially, not the cause of death)....like holding her or forcing her
she was raped ...front...and back...
and ....her death was horrible and slow....a knife was pushed in from side to side...but did NOT sever her cartoid artery (which would have been mercifully quick)...
instead, her throat and lungs filled with blood...she literally drowned in her own blood..and that took maybe an hour to two hours....her hands were filled with blood as if she was trying to hold it...she would have been too weak to move and could not shout or cry..just horrible
whoever was in the room would also have blood on them
and I think they washed off and then came back in the am and tried to clean it up
the police have never found all of the "broken window"..they can't put it back together even tho they have painstakingly searched the yard and room for glass..some is missing
from what I have read, the wounds to Meredith may have been caused by different people..*ie, someone threatning, jabbing at her with knife or glass..someone who was grabbing her face, grabbed her neck, bruised her face and partially crushed her windpipe and some one who shoved the knife in side to side
Regarding the "job"...I think Amanda had such a high opinion of herself...she was just angry...and she resented Meredith. She knew Meredith didn't think much of her (probably with good reason)
Everything about Amanda shouts of a narcisstic self centered "look at me" personality
I haven't read through all the posts, but that statement is incorrect. Luminol glows a bluish color when in the presence of blood, bleach, copper, etc. It glows for about 30 seconds and the lights must be turned off in order to see it.
I also wouldn't be telling all my friends and family 2 days after the murder about the stomach ache I had from the lack of food, yet not reacting to the murder of my roommate who was supposedly my friend!
i'm thinking all the pink is flourescent fingerprint powder....it's all the rage these days. :)
Very, very possible...but it's definitely NOT luminol. I wonder what fingerprints they were looking for? I mean, anyone who visits me would have their fingerprints in the bathroom if they used it.
I just saw the picture of the bathroom with all the blood - I thought part of the evidence was that AK and the boyfriend bought two jugs of bleach and had spent a good deal of time cleaning up the crime scene. Would that have been their idea of cleaning up? Or did they just speculate that they cleaned stuff up outside of the crime scene?
Apparently that's not blood but some red substance police used to check for something. In her e-mail she does say she saw blood in the bathroom, so I guess there was blood, just not as much as it appears to be from the photo that shows so much of the bathroom covered in a red substance.
Somebody who didn't live there?
