Eight police officers, a team of firefighters and members of the Greek coast guard are investigating the 60-year-old’s disappearance

He was last seen in the Tristomo area in the far north of the island and had been staying in a rented room in nearby Olympos.

According to local media, the 60-year-old man’s car was found abandoned in Karpathos, close to the popular holiday island of Rhodes.

The article below states that the owner of the rental in the Trisomo area reported him missing on Saturday morning at 10:30. They had last seen him on Friday morning at 8:30. After the search was launched his rental car was found parked and locked in the Avlona area. Helicopters weren't used in the search due to technical problems and they couldn't get drones transported from Rhodes until Monday.

The search for the missing tourist is continuing on Tuesday. Drones are also being used. The rental owner reported him missing after he failed to check out on Saturday. His belongings were still in the room. He was staying in the village of Olympos, but was last seen in the village of Tristomo. His car was found in the Korfasia area of Avlonas (described as a rural hamlet), which is between Olympos and Tristomo on the map.

Temperatures in Karpathos reached the mid-30s over the weekend, with daily maximums of 34C on Saturday and Sunday and overnight minimums of over 20C each night.

If this gentleman went for a hike in this temperatures then I see great possibility of a heat stroke.

I'm having deja vu from last summer of the people who went missing in Greece, multiple individuals.

Yes and why do they all seem to be in their 60s? I too was following last summer and I don’t recall any being found alive or not other than Michael Moselys remains. He obviously got the much bigger publicity from being on TV
IMO

Because people in their sixties get dehydrated faster than the younger ones. Sixties is often the time when first, weak dementia dymptoms starts to crawl in and just one bout of severe dehydration can amplify these symptoms to a horrible magnitude. And when you get utterly confused during massive heat in a rough, foreign terrain that can easily end badly.

Translation by Google:

From the investigations that were carried out, the 60-year-old's car was located, in which there was a mobile phone in charging and his personal belongings.

According to information, the Briton had two mobile phones and thus, through the second one that he probably had with him, an attempt was made to record his location, that is, the area he moved.

Good God... Symptoms, I meant symptoms! Having both dyspraxia and bad eyesight is not very helpful 😬

Yes I realise this about deteriorating health but if they are not found who knows how and if they succumbed.
I did find one case which I will attach who was found in a ravine so more likely injury than dehydration.
I’m sure there was a thread covering ALL the missing in Greece. Will have a dig around

He was named in the Greek media:

A 60-year-old man, Jay-Michael Arnold, has been missing June 27, 2025 in Karpathos, when he set out on a hike from Avlona to Tristomo and did not return.

Authorities activated a Silver Alert on July 2, as his life may be in danger.

His picture at the link:

60-year-old Jay - Michael Arnold disappeared on June 27, 2025 from the "Avlona" area of Karpathos, he is 1.85 m tall, has green eyes and on the day of his disappearance he was wearing a white shirt and beige Bermuda shorts.

This might be him:
