We don't know how depressed Mr. Moonjack was after Brittany's death. Maybe he really didn't care about his health enough to put himself first...before the fundraiser for her. Maybe he was worried that he wouldn't survive the surgery and then the benefit wouldn't be held.

I dunno.
Or maybe he was sooo drugged out that he wasn't ready to face hospitalization and recovery without his drugs. I think they didn't take poor Brittany to the hospital for the same reason, even though she told her mother she was dying about an hour before she actually did. If they HAD taken her, she would probably still be alive today. Who watches a person that ill who STATES they can feel themselves dying and does NOT get them any medical help at all?
On the fundraiser, does anyone know how it was structured? Were he and/or Brittany's mother to receive any percentage of the profits in any way? Were they to serve as paid "trustees" or "administrators" of this fund? Just wondering.

LOS ANGELES
Just days after the death of Simon Monjack, the late Brittany Murphy's brother says he is not mourning the loss of his brother-in-law.
Pop Tarts got a first look at this week's Life & Style Weekly, and the magazine is reporting that Murphys brother Tony actually thinks the world is better off without Monjack.
I dont care that he passed, Tony told the tabloid. Maybe it will stop this from happening to another young woman. However he went, it was a service to humanity.
The coroner ruled that Murphys death in December was caused by pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple-drug intoxication. Now, an investigation into Monjack's cause of death reveals that many of the same prescription pills believed to have contributed to killing his wife were found near his body.

He was a mess, lost in a haze of prescription medication. He exerted too much control over Brittany, an insider told Life & Style, while a second insider agreed that he did strange things to his wife and changed her completely.
Another source, who had business dealings with the couple, told us that Monjack always seemed as high as a kite, and severely damaged Murphys professional reputation

This makes me wonder why on earth Brittany's mother was so fond of him. She lived with them and should have been in a good position to know if he had a strange hold on Brittany. Wouldn't you think?
As if Brittany Murphy and her husband's deaths six months apart weren't eerie enough...
Autopsy results for the Clueless star's screenwriter widower, Simon Monjack, reveal that he died of acute pneumonia and severe anemianearly the exact same cause of death as Murphy, E! News has learned.
Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter confirmed that while Monjack did have some legal medications in his system, he did not succumb to a prescription drug overdose or multiple drug intoxication; drugs were listed as a contributing factor in Murphy's death.
Additionally, the medical examiner ruled out heart disease as a contributing factor. Monjack had reportedly been experiencing heart problems before his lifeless body was found on May 23 in the same Hollywood residence he shared with Murphy, and in which Murphy died on Dec. 20. In yet another tragic coincidence, both were found by Murphy's mother, Sharon, who also lived with the couple.
I didn't even know that he had died as well until just now when I saw this article, WOW.
