All I am saying is that I don't believe it is the same thing and I don't believe that all or even most who view child are also victimizing children themselves. I believe most of them are living vicariously through the images. It is a huge jump that isn't backed up by any evidence to say that all/most people who possess child also are abusing victims in their own lives.

Where are Westerfield's other victims? Where is the boy scout leader's victims? There aren't any. When some guy is sent to prison for 30 years for possessing child pornogrpahy, where are his real life victims, who he abused personally? It is one thing for a victim not to come forward on his/her own...but when the person has been proven to be a pervert, arrested w/child there is no reason why a victim would not come forward to authorities. So, to me, if you get arrested for child and no victims come forward that means you, yourself, did not abuse any children in real life.

People who possess child should go to prison. But, to my mind, it is not the same as harming a child yourself, up close and personal.

on the whole is destructive because most people without images of any kind would NEVER in their wildest dreams imagine the things they see..so it increases the chance for devient behavior, it increases the liklihood of deviant behavior but viewing does not automatically equate with doing.

March 4, 1999, my cousin's daughter succumed to shaken baby syndrome, she lived and suffered in a hospital bed awaiting death.
Alexis's mother had been in and out of jail and put men, money and drugs above her own dear Angel. Even after all the years that have passed, I am having a hard time typing out this post.
I posted about that here on WS and it is very heartbreaking.
Not only was Alexis let down by her mother, she was let down by human services.

There are a gazillion studies that children who watch violent TV act more violent than those who don't and that adults who watch violence or sexual violence become desensitized/more tolerant of this violence. That viewing images of nature vs. a blank wall relaxes the viewer. It makes no sense then to believe that viewing would have the opposite effect of viewing every other kind of image.

We begin here to veer in to a debate that I know for a fact neither of us will win, and which could conceivably continue on forever and take us further and further off-topic. I could probably produce reams of studies supporting my view and I know that you could do easily the same for yours and neither of us could accomplish anything aside from frustrating each other. I'd prefer not to do that and therefore respectfully bow out of this particular debate.

The very first person a little girl goes to is her mother. Most mothers would look at her and say her imagination is getting wild. She saw a movie , read a book something that triggered her imagination. Few mothers would say " you are dead, you touched my baby." Trust me on that one... I had a foster daughter that was abused by her father from age 6 to 13. The mother believed the father. When the parents finally divorced years later, the daughter told her... look there is nothing in it for me to lie now.... it happened. Then my wonderful grown up girl made peace with both of her parents...

Count me as one of those "few mothers" then. If my child came to me accusing someone of abusing them, I would rather be safe than sorry and would certainly believe them.

That is correct. Gagnon's computer is on the same network as Kevin G's. Kevin G did not log on to Brooke's myspace nor did he (as far as we know) take part in anything except the disposal of the safe and laptop.

That's my recollection. Gagnon admitted he changed the date of one of the myspace post, but that's all he admits.

His 'landlord' admits throwing out the safe full of child , but now denies he ever told the FBI that he 'assumed' it had child and only says he assumed it was something Gagnon didn't want found. Well, duh, I mean if you call somebody up in the middle of the night and ask them to throw your safe away, it should go w/out saying whatever is in it, they want to disappear.

That's what I think. I had total sympathy for her as a victim until I read her emails. After reading her own words, I had to conclude that Jacques so twisted her mind that he created a predator in her. Its true that MOST abuse victims don't become abusers themselves, but some do. I'd say she is one of that 'some'. Would anyone here want their own child associating with AR? How could someone whose mind and will was broken by the time they got to high school really recover, especially one who came to identify so closely with her abuser(s)?

We still don't know why exactly AR wished Brooke harm or what her answer is going to be about that, and we don't know if she left the house the way she said she did, I think no, she didn't, she was there for at leat part of what happened to Brooke.

She was not held captive, and she wasn't kept from seeing what constitutes normal behavior. AR was exposed to friends, school, school activities. However, as some point she started to become as twisted as MJ and "enjoy" this secret special "thing" they had going on and didn't rebel in any way against him.
I understand she was conditioned to be that way, and probably even threatened, but she crossed the line and became the aggressor.
I hope they put her somewhere for several months to get help, because she needs it...that's an understatement.

Thank you for posting that I thought of her when I was reading the original post, but had to get through four or five more pages before I answered the question. Yes, Westerfield did something to a young girl, he touched her and put something in her mouth.

Another thing I was thinking while reading all the post about the note that the President picked her (wow what a honor for such a young girl). Since most nine year olds do not know that much about sex could she have thought she was really special, she better do a good job after all, you do not want to let the President down. And, could he have planted the note when mom was away so when AR found the note she showed him and by the time mom came home the note was old news. Since, it is suppose to be a secret and again the President picked her. Don't want to get in trouble with the President.

Geez, as I type my own words I cannot believe someone could be so cruel.

If she played the role I believe she did in Brooke's death, I would confine her until she's 18.

I can't of course imagine the rage that a little girl would feel being abused for so long and in what appears to be such horrific ways, but she still had many choices, she could have stalled for time, she could have said she didn't want to be part of the take down, she should have somehow warned Brooke w/out Jacques knowing. She did none of that. She led her cousin to the her slaughter willingly and may have participated in more than that.

IMO, it is not only the responsibility of the mother to keep her children safe from child molestors, etc. Since Brooke has been found, I have been discussing her case with my husband. In our lifetime we have "known" of multiple cases of child abuse and even more 'men' who boldly and outwardly speak to their men friends about "how sexually attractive certain underage girls are to them". I told my husband that, IMO, part of the problem is that the male friend who hears these remarks and yet, who are disgusted by these continuious remarks by these men have, so far, actually done NOTHING to put an end to this type of behavior. It is simply 'silently accepted' by the 'firends' of these sicko males who are taking NO OUTWARD STAND against the perv making these remarks.

I understand all too well that, in generations past, a female often married at a very early age, (often due to the expected life span due to disease, etc.) This often dictiated the acceptable age to marry. My own grandmother who was born in 1902, married at age 12 and had her first child when she was 13, which was less than 9 months after her recorded marriage! This fact sickens me, but it was much more commonplace and acceptable in generations past.

Thankfully, this practive is NOT commonplace, acceptable or legal today.... In general, I feel that there are leftover 'loyalties' felt and honored among some males today which should be soundly done away with by any male who hears such perverted talk about very young females....... If the males who walk among us do not stand up for their principles and take up for these children, the perv will continue to 'sexually admire' these young children and the problem can and often will excillate into something more criminal than simple thoughts and words.

It is as if there is some residual 'caveman mentality' of which some modern day men have been unable to properly dispose.

Simply because an 'urge' is there or a thought crosses ones mind does not make it right or just and it does not give them the right to speak of these children as if they are 'pieces of meat' placed in a market for the pervs own choosing.

It is time that everyone STOPS 'accepting' even these types of passing perverted comments, offhanded glares, etc. toward these young children! It is time that everyone vocally stands up to these jerks. It is time that we all tell them that WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS Assaulting Behavior directed toward 'our' children.

Yes, LE did say it was only them. However, they were only talking about "Breckenridge" being tied to a larger and more organized child sex ring. So in that context...they are probably correct. They will continue to investigate as to any more minors being involved with RG, MJ, and now Kevin G., John Stephen G, etc. The more time they spend digging...the more they will probably find on all of these men, imo.

The confusion the cousin (AR) must have experienced when confronted with the emails showing her that MJ had been fooling her all that time, must have been a real shock, she was under the impression she was a member of this special secrete organization.
I wonder what went through her mind, to think she had been duped into such a bizarre situation.

It will take time for her to come to terms with it and for this young girl to be deprogrammed.
