Earlier, did it say the perv was in prison til 06? Or, probation?

You may be right, but I'm not going to condemn the judge until I know more facts. The judge may have specified @250k cash and not allowed a 10% bond. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

But, why chance it? The DA told her the girl who is accusing him will be in danger if the perv makes bail.

IF he does get out, hopefully his employer will fire him...can't imagine keeping an employee like him around. They will have media crawling all around that place.

They are saying right now that the investigation is based on the internet.
The police are going to be more people in the ring. There are 50 FBI Officers working on the case right now. In a few minutes, they are going to be interviewing another uncle.
I will post that.

Thanks for the update DS

Anyone who bailed out in the facilities here in Vermont only had to come up with 10% of the bail amount. Many people that came to the facility to bail a person out used cash, a surety note, property note or credit. Some used the titles to their vehicles, some would use property.
No one is allowed to use a check.

Unless Vt EOE is different then Wi you can't fire someone for any charges they have against them in court. In has no relevance to there jobs.

Let's go back to the mention of Breckenridge because I missed that part of the presser. Where did that name come from and what does it mean? What context was it used? Was it the name of the child sex ring itself or the location?

I'm still not finding the charging docs online. Anyone else?

That is what I was afraid of to be honest. He will be able to get out unless a new charge happens before.

The way I understood it that was the name of the ring, but I could be wrong.

In the police affidavit, it says the victim was told the president of the United States had selected her for this sex program. The president assigns a trainer, and her trainer would be Michael Jacques. And then she was abused-- almost tortured-- on a weekly basis in many different ways for the next five years. The victim testified she had met three men as part of "Breckenridge" who had told her what types of sexual activity she needed to work on to graduate.

If so, then this SOB could easily get released today if he owns his home which of course is worth more than $25,000. Am I reading this right on what Vermont's laws are?

According to court papers, Michael Jacques, 42, convinced a young relative that she was a part of an underground sex program call "Breckenridge" and repeatedly assaulted her over the last five years. Papers also state that Jacques told the girl that he would cut her throat if she did not go along with the program. But at this time, we do NOT know if Brook Bennett was a victim of the same program.

Jacques did not comment to press as he was lead into Orange County District Court.

Family members of Brooke Bennett were on hand for the arraignment. However, they said little about either case.

"Brooke's mom is my niece, and that is my niece I was sitting with up there. They are sisters. This is not doing a good thing for my family. That is about all I have to say," said Brooke's great-uncle, Storm Woodard.

Jacques' wife Denise left the court without comment.

You may be right - and I certainly don't want to start an argument. I'm just having a hard time thinking that a judge would set a bail that he could actually make. By law, she may have to set an amount, but I keep thinking that there must be more to it - like she can specify that it has to be cash up front or something. She has to know that she would incur the wrath of everyone if he got out.

I think I am going to be sick. The poor, poor child. At least the scum can't make bail. Woot! He has killed that child the same as if he had cut her throat. This is just so horrible.

Just so stunned, heartbroken and really scared for Brooke. A child sex ring??? Nothing should shock me anymore, but this development threw me for a loop.
God, I pray she is found safe.

Thank you to all the posters keeping us updated.
