Decedent was believed to be Haitian, dropped off by boat into the Atlantic Ocean. Was attempting to swim to shore and drowned.

You have to be a really really strong swimmer to fight the waves, the current just to swim ashore.

What boat dropped him off? Were they smugglers or just others attempting to get ashore also?

According to the article there "no smuggler was in custody and the vessel used had not been recovered".

I wonder if these two women found on February 6 were in the same boat?
