It is definitely one of the most mysterious missing person cases of the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY". Now the format reminds of the search for Lars Mittank.

Ismaning / Varna - It is one of the most mysterious criminal cases in Germany and apparently also one of the most enigmatic cases of the popular ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY". In a specially written interview, Alfred Hettmer from the LKA Munich reminds of the missing Lars Mittank. The reason for the renewed search request: The relatives of the then disappeared 28-year-olds still live with the uncertainty. "The uncertainty is the worst and represents an enormous burden dar. Therefore, the relatives want to know one thing above all: What happened?" Alfred Hettmer explains the renewed memory of the case.

Although the missing person case was already treated in an "Aktenzeichen XY" special in June 2015, the 28-year-old still lacks every trace even after almost five years. His disappearance is still a mystery. On June 30, 2014, Mittank started a trip with friends to Varna in Bulgaria. There, the small group wanted to spend a carefree
summer vacation on the Golden Sands.

In a confrontation with strangers Mittank then suffered a blow to his ear, the reported the young man at least then his friends. Two days later, on the scheduled departure day, "Lars suddenly had doubts as to whether he could really make the flight with his damaged ear," explains Alfred Hettmer. On the same day, the then 28-year-old sought out a doctor, a diagnosed tympanic membrane prevented Lars Mittank from being allowed to fly back to Germany.

While his buddies had actually started the journey home without Lars, the young German was examined again in a special clinic. However, Mittank planned to carry out a recommended operation in Germany. With a prescribed antibiotic in his luggage, the then 28-year-old checked into a cheap hotel. This he left hastily in the middle of the night. In a panic, he called his mother and reported being followed. Why Lars Mittank felt persecuted and why the young man left the hotel is still unclear.
In order to obtain a flight permit for a return flight to Germany, Mittank then consulted the airport doctor. He also advised Mittank to stay in Bulgaria until the ear injury was treated.
On a surveillance video available to the police it can be seen how the young man leaves the practice while still talking. Lars Mittank also left his cell phone and luggage in the treatment room during his escape. The camera still recorded how the then 28-year-old even climbs over the outer fence of the airport, since then Lars Mittank every trace is lost [.....]

It's almost 5 years ago that Lars went missing. The weirdest case... I didn't realize that so much time has gone by already, without knowing. How devastating for his mother and friends.

Is it a long time ago this trucker dropped this homeless person? I believe the last show was around June 15 2019.

Maybe I missed this, about the CCTV footage from the hotel. Four years after Lars Mittank became the "most famous missing person on YouTube" his family still clings to hope

Mittank eventually had to check into a cheap hotel called Hotel Color, near Varna Airport, as he saw his friends for the last time leaving in the plane.

One of Mittank's friends in the group later told a German television that Lars was "relaxed" and in a "good mood" when they left him.

However, Mittank's mother got a horrifying call from her son later from his hotel room, where her panicked son told her that he was being followed by some people who were trying to kill him. He reportedly told his mother to cancel his bank cards.

Mittank's mother, Sandra Mittank told a German TV: "I thought, god, my son is in danger. I could hear his heart pounding over the phone. He said people were trying to rob him or kill him."

He also sent a text to his mother asking her about the antibiotics he had been prescribed by the physician.

According to a CCTV footage of that hotel, Mittank was seen flustered, pacing up and down the hotel foyer, looking out the windows and even hiding in a lift.

Reports state that Mittank left the hotel at 1 am before returning later. No one knows till date where he went during that time.

The next day, Mittank texted her mother saying that he had safely made it to the airport terminal, however, when an airport doctor was examining him before flying, he reportedly appeared "nervous and erratic" and was also mistrustful of the drugs he had been prescribed by the physician.

The airport doctor, Dr Kosta Kostov, later said that Mittank began to tremble when he saw a construction worker entering the room and cried: "I don't want to die here. I have to get out of here."

Do we know if the fight actually happened? Were there are any witnesses to it? Ruptured eardrums happen without a person being wacked. It could be another sign that Lars was losing a grip on things.

I always thought it was telling that he sprints out of the airport before easing into a casual jog. If he really feared for his safety, he would've bolted it all the way. It was the behaviour of a confused, paranoid individual.

A few days ago, I read a blog and it was written, that he could not been found that evening,by his friends and was missing till the next morning.It also stated in that blogspot that he also had an injured jaw.

Lars was 28 years old at the time of his disappearance, makes me wonder if he and his friends had any contacts with girls/woman during their stay there...(maybe he runn into some trouble,because of that?) ..while he was waiting for his friends outside Mc Donalds.I find it hard to understand that he didn't go inside Mc Donalds to be with his friends,when he saw the "locals" there,who they had a dispute with,earlier that night over football.
