This is awful. I'm just guessing the priest here is wrong.

This child was taken off life support while he was conscious and aware of his surroundings? That just can't be true.

I am sure parents had to give permission to remove life support. I very much doubt life support would have been removed if he were consious and aware of his surroundings. Also, he obviously couldn't breathe on his own since he died after removal of life support.
