ML: So, we know from the Dr. Phil interview recently that Burke is well aware of the theories,
and was certainly well aware before this CBS documentary series went to air, that, uh, a lot of
people think that’s he’s responsible for the death of his little sister. Do you remember when he
became aware of that? I mean, he was only 9 at the time, when did he realize that people thought
it was him?
JR: I don’t know, uh, really, we, we tried, I mean, keep in mind Burke was a 9-year-old child, he
weighed 60 pounds…
ML: Yea
JR: This was a brutal, savage murder and to think that a…, uh, a 60-pound child could do that,
uh, it just doesn’t even pass the common-sense test. Um, but we tried to shield Burke from, you
know, the tabloid headlines that said, Mom did it, the Dad did it, that Burke did it. Uh, probably,
um, we started to sue the tabloids in gosh, I don’t know, 2000-2001, something like that, uh, on
behalf of Burke, because, um, they were going with that story and we settled, uh, cases, uh, 4-5
cases against the tabloids. And um, I’m, I’m sure at that point that Burke knew that, that was out
there. And so, he’d have been, um, he had been, I don’t know, 12 or 13, I guess by then, 14. But,
no see, yea he’d been, 13 or 14.
ML: Well, it’s an incredible burden, isn’t it…
JR: But Burke’s a…Burke’s a…well, it’s, I mean, Burke, uh, I mean, Burke knows it’s
nonsense, and um, you know we, we filed a suit originally against the tabloids, uh, you know
there for multi-million dollars and Burke’s reaction was... “Oh good, I don’t have to get a job
now…”
Btw BR didn’t weigh 60 pounds at the time of the murder. He was at least a foot taller than JBR and weighed closer to 80 pounds than 60.
Why would JR have the need to portray BR as a 9yr old, 60 pound weakling, when he actually was more like a 10yr old, 80 pound tallest person on his basketball team?
