Couldn't any one of us just want to hold her & make her smile that sweet baby-girl smile?
What in the world caused a person to do this to his apparently own daughter? Was Leilani scared of him and started crying?
And what do you say to the 3 y/o sibling who asks, "Where is Leilani? Where is Leilani?"
At least her father -- her father -- has been charged and is in custody.
How much sleep will mom and grandmother get these sad, sad nights?
And how long will the 3 year-old keep looking for Leilani?

Me too! Her mom's smile tells me everything I need to know about how much she loved Leilani. My heart weeps with hers. And she's right when she said to Jayveon, "You're gonna reap what you sowed". MOO

The last thing I could find about this disturbing case was in March, 2023. His defense attorney asked for a mental evaluation of Burley. After that, nothing. That was almost two years ago.
I don't get it, but then again this is California and more specifically L.A. County, where justice moves at a glacial pace.
I will look around and see if I can find some court records.

Okay, an L.A. County inmate search shows he's confined at Patton State Hospital. No other details. I suppose he will remain there indefinitely until deemed fit for trial. That could be forever.
