Hi everyone!!! First post long time sleuther....
I feel compelled to vent my thoughts/opinions so here goes. In looking at these 2 I see evil and I feel it. As much as I try to come up with what could have possessed them to do this I only come up with sadism. In my opinion they fed off of each other to continuously torture these innocent children. It seems they started in 2010 and it spiraled into this god awful game of evil for these parents. It is like some twisted Rob Zombie movie or Stephen King novel of just mind blowing awful. But it's real life. These people literally got off on torturing these children. No matter the abuse you go through or the mental condition you have when you are starving your children beating them chaining them up day in and day out there, in my opinion, is no mental condition or psychological diagnosis that can even come close to offering an explanation as to why you would think that this is in anyway ok. When you can sit there and have your children look at the food you bought for yourselves knowing they are wasting away that is beyond horrible. When a pizza guy knows your order of 1 slice of pep pizza or your chicken sandwich for one as your children are at home chained to a bed with no access to a bathroom words cannot describe this. Monster 1 and Monster 2 have no souls although they knew right from wrong. They spent every day of their sick and twisted lives enjoying the torture of these poor babies. For that there is no explanation no reasoning and no reckoning. Their punishment should be to never be able to look speak or touch each other for the rest of their miserable lives because I believe they are addicts of each others evil. This is only my opinion. Thank you for reading this.. end rant!

Too unkempt to be a wig, IMO. Besides, he has worn this same hairstyle since high school, according to a post made here (possibly it was in the last thread). I think it is his own hair. But what would I know? This case has too many strange and unbelievable factors already.

Reminds me of Captain Kangaroo

I think it's a long while before they can do this, because it would make them very ill. Evidently, that's what happens when you try to refuel a severely malnourished person. I think something was mentioned about this in the presser.

Yes, gitana1 linked an article upstream in which a medical professional said they can't just start eating a bunch of food...

Long, long time lurker, first time poster :)

A thought. If the 17 year old girl had been planning the escape for 2 years perhaps the second child that initially went with her was the 2 year old?

Hi! :). I don't think so, because LE said she'd been planning the escape with at least that one co-escapee for 2 years, and that the sister she left with became too frightened to continue, and returned to the house.

LE said the last time (an unspecified number of the kids) had seen a doctor was 4 years ago.

According to LE, all of the children (except for the baby) had been malnourished and abused for years. How was it possible for a doctor to examine any of the kids and not notice what had to appear to be, best possible case, significant and unexplained under development?

I caught that too!.. What kind of Quack did they ‘see’, for it not to result in a potential child abuse request for investigation report submission?!!

Also, the PC mentioned 1 Male had attended “some classes” per the DA, so that makes me also wonder, in many States, in order to attend college/schools, one MUST have up to date immunization shots..so, how was that whole topic over looked?!!!... meaning, how could One of the kids/adults attend college w/o needing that documentation/proof from an actual Physician/MD/Whatever??

And if needed, How could the Dr providing the confirmation of immunizations being current, NOT ‘see’ and submit a child abuse investigation complaint?

As always only my own thoughts, theories, views, opinions, and/or Big Fish Tales; unless otherwise indicated by a website URL and/or my referencing a specific source!...Thanks!

My cynical response is that the lawyer will probably tell him his current haircut is his best defense - anyone with that hairstyle would come across as having mental incompetency issues.
There was a tragic murder case in Australia where the man arrested was in a regular business suit with fairly tidy hair framing a bald spot - by the time he went to trial, his hair was all over the place and his suit was a bit too big for him. He looked like a stereotypical "crazy guy" and the lawyer was hoping this would sway the jury... but it didn't work. Once the trial was over, there were photo comparisons to show how people can be persuaded to think someone is "crazy."

Interesting...

Ah! Thank you. I didn't catch that the co-escapee was also the co-planner. I will have to watch again :)

Just wondering how everyone slept last night. I had a horrid night's sleep. Just laid in bed wondering how all of those children could fall asleep when the sun was still up.
Has anyone else gone and washed all the way up to your elbows?
How about food/meals? Smaller amounts than usual here.

Former DA says this was a cult. Very informative interview.

Ambrosio Rodriguez, who spent 13 years as Senior Deputy District Attorney of Riverside County with experience in the sexual assault child-abuse unit, discusses the torture and child abuse case against David and Louise Turpin with Crime Watch Daily.

Interesting point about immunization records. Attending school would require records, but not sure if records are needed if you just attend a class here and there. If you're not actually registered as a full-time student, perhaps you don't need to provide immunization records? IDK.

(Bestill, I recall your "Minnie Mouse in jail" avatar you used to use for Heather Elvis' case...it seems as though that could be fitting here as well.)

Maybe I can find it again and bring her back. In many ways the Disney fetish reminds me of the M's as does the home schooling. I don't think the M's were abusing their kids like this but there are some similarities.

"Father" was employed at the same place as when they filed for bankruptcy.
He worked a night shift, so the whole family lived on his schedule. It just so happened that this schedule was also convenient for torture. Perhaps he selected that schedule for that very reason. This means that the "mother" was home alone with the children while he was at work. Additionally, he had a long commute, of over an hour each way, which added to more time with just "mother."

This leads me to believe that perhaps she was the lead in this horror show, and convinced him to go along with it. Forgive me for this walk down assumption-stereotype lane, but if he was a "nerdy science geek" in High school (as he was described by fellow classmates in msm), and in his early 20s he got Louise as his wife, he may have been completely smitten with her and so grateful to have her that he did anything for her. I'm thinking of the vow renewals, and him getting all teary, and the besotted way they looked at each other. She made him the center of her world, and as a result she was able to do anything she wanted, including torture their children. They are both complicit, both monsters, and both should get everything the DA can throw at them (it will all stick, IMO). But I am leaning towards LT being the original source of this evil.

Do you have a link to the father still working where he was during bankruptcy time? I haven’t seen that. I thought he left both good jobs in 2010? It is confusing due to different sources, so hard for me to be sure. Which company was he working for at this time.... Northrop? I am totally confused, so my apology.

David Turpin used to work for defense contractor Lockheed Martin and left in 2010, said company spokesman Kenneth B. Ross, who noted he had no other information to release.

The Turpins moved to California from Texas around 2010, the parents wrote on Facebook, after Mr. Turpin returned to work for Northrop Grumman.

He said David worked as an engineer with Northrop Grumman, and a defense contractor confirmed to the newspaper that he was with the company until 2010.
The grandparents told ABC News that David, a computer engineer with a degree from Virginia Tech, also had a stint working with General Dynamics in Texas.

A spokesman for Northrop declined to say if Turpin was currently employed there.

Investigators are still examining the couple's finances, but David had worked as an engineer for both Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin told the media on Thursday that Turpin was employed.

I cannot stop thinking about the case. I fed my pets this morning, tidied up my home, sent my husband off to work, talked to my grown daughter (younger than the oldest in this case) about the new job in her field that she starts today and is so excited about. I have a home-cooked meal planned for my kids who will be here for dinner tonight to celebrate the new job. Nothing fancy, just a regular family.

SO APPRECIATIVE for all of it. HEARTBROKEN for what was deliberately denied those children.

And how scary is it that there are probably other families out there just like this? The world is a big place.....

I can’t think of a word for these two. I feel so sorry for the kids having been raised in that situation.
I’ll say that the photos/images of the two, it is so obvious that they both have mental issues. Had they lived next to me<(gladys kravitz kind of person) this would have been reported by me.

As the DA portrayed it, they went to bed at 4 a.m. or so and actually, that's the least of the abuse. Sleeping during daylight is not unheard of, and even if they slept until 2 in the afternoon, it would have still be light for many hours.

Sympathy and empathy for these children is wonderful, and learning some things to be watchful for in your community is good too, as is helping them if necessary. These people have already ruined 13 lives; don't let them ruin yours.

And how scary is it that there are probably other families out there just like this? The world is a big place.....

I remember my soccer-mom days. I would be on the sidelines watching the games in all sorts of weather, watching the kids progress in their skills over the years. I would look around at the buildings around the fields and wonder if there were kids stuck inside those buildings - either without a hobby (doesn't have to be sport) because of learned disinterest or because of neglect, abuse, lack of opportunities, etc. I worried about the future of the kids I didn't even know or see.

I recall once a boss told me that your most powerful tool is the people you surround yourself with. I liked my kids in sports because they were around other kids and adults who valued physical fitness, improving, practicing, being active, sportsmanship....you get the idea. (Yes, I know there are abuses in sports, too, That's why I was on the sidelines in all weather!)

When you isolate or hang around people without direction, you lose that power of being around people striving to live a healthy, fulfilled life.

Oh geez, I'm waxing philosophic on this case a lot. Thanks for putting up with me. This case hits the heart of me as a mom. I know I'm not alone.

Right?!! This was in a neighborhood with houses right next to each other, not some rural area outside of town. Mind boggling ...

Nope---their names have been posted. None of them are named Jane.

Wasn’t one named jeanneta or something similar? It could be pronounced as Jane-etta?

Ivan Trahan, an attorney who represented the couple at their bankruptcy hearing, told CNN "there was nothing out of ordinary" about the couple when he worked with them in 2011.
David Turpin made about $140,000 per year working as an engineer at Northrop Grumman, according to the bankruptcy documents. His wife's occupation was listed as "homemaker."

Northrop Grumman would not say whether Turpin was still employed there.
