That Daily Mail article shows L pregnant with baby 13, so I guess she is the mother after all.
So much Disney stuff, the obsession seems to be at least 29 years back, as the baby with the Disney cake is the eldest.

Did anyone notice her shoes in the original wedding photo? Identical to the shoes all the girls wear at the renewals.

This has to be so hard on the people caring for them now.

Just something I noticed in the Reuter article ... he was referred to as having been a “computer engineer’. I don’t think it was clarified as to what type of engineer anywhere else, though.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...od-to-control-starving-children-idUSKBN1F8290
And this makes a lot of sense why he was on 3rd shift. My husband worked 3rd shift in IT for a large manufacturer, but he would be the only IT guy on the night shift. Basically, these large companies who run around the clock also have a skeleton crew of employees other than factory workers in case an issue needs to be solved or a problem arises. So one nurse, one IT guy, one computer engineer, etc on night shift just in case.

This means he probably got to work alone, and also likely could twiddle his thumbs most nights unless something eventful happened that he was needed for on shift. So his clothes smelling - no one would be around to notice. Any odd behavior? Again, no one around to notice. In fact, he could probably have been maintaining the household via text and phone a lot while at work.

I wonder if there was a Webcam where he could keep tabs on them.

Someone mentioned this earlier but at least one of the pictures (the one with the Dr Seuss shirts) looks photo shopped. There is a hand that I can’t seem to connect to anyone.

A couple of the kids remind me of a guy I grew up with. He has Marfan Syndrome. It makes me wonder if there is a genetic condition (like connective tissue disorder) going on with some of the kids.

Just to add, there are many new photos in that article.

I mentioned this back on the first thread but I don’t think anyone picked up on it. In the longest elvis vow renewal video, if you watch at about 38.25 does it look like DT hurts LT after she puts her hand up to his shoulder? I couldn’t see it on my phone but I was looking on the desktop pc and you see him move her hand and her face definitely changes.
I know it doesn’t make a difference to the case but just wondering if others see it too?

Do you have a link for that video? TIA

There are several different ones out there, many versions now. Thanks!

^^^^this.

If abuse can be shown, that these monsters were abused as children themselves, does/would/could this make any difference in court? Some serial killers, etc likely have used the same defense, but ultimately must be held accountable for their actions. Has prior childhood abuse of a perp ever affected the verdict in a case, and if so, on what specific grounds, tia.

Last night I took a little excursion into the life of Genie, via wikipedia. New one to me. Profoundly abused child, kept in a darkened room and tied for earliest years of her life. But, there was also a history of her father, the chief abuser. I find these sorts of backgrounds helpful, not in terms of letting anyone off the hook, but in terms of understanding the internal logic of the abuser. In Genie's case, the father suffered from various family issues and social ostracism, coupled with extreme, pathological sensitivities to noise. Wife had severe glaucoma, rendering her nearly blind. Several pregnancies resulted in very early deaths, although I believe a brother survived normally. Genie was hospitalized for something and suspected of profound retardation. And while her daily "care" appears to be profoundly cruel, I believe that highly similar conditions were found in many institutions at that time (late 1950s). And in fact, the rest of her life, once "discovered" appears to have been something of a seesaw between nurturing and abusive caretakers.

Relating this back to the Turpin case. And without sleuthing any family members, I would tend to believe that there are roots to at least some of this behavior/pathology that are generational in nature. Some of the family interviews have suggested that Louise may have been known to be "odd." And then this new tidbit today from David's father:

David Turpin’s father, James, the children’s’ grandfather, said from his home in Princeton, West Virginia, that he did not believe the reports about the abuse.

“I’m going to talk with the children, find out the real story on this as soon as I can get a call through to them,” James Turpin told The Associated Press.

This in face of LE removing children from a reportedly filthy home and having observed one child in chains and two being freed while officers were awaiting entry. And medical reports of malnutrition. Now, denial is a powerful thing. Very powerful. But that is some super-duper level stuff. That kind of denial, it seems to me, takes years of practice. Sure does make one wonder.

I confess, after this case I went to an old school mate's Facebook profile to snoop and see if his kids look healthy. He's probably 44 years old and was a ball of fun and joy when we were kids. He grew up to become an engineer, married a wild girl with purple hair, and then they settled into a bizarre life exactly opposite of what we all expected. Last I spoke to him they had 9 kids and had become super religious and conservative. I see they now have 11 kids. Will probably keep going until she hits menopause.

Siblings of House of Horrors mother reveal how she was kidnapped to secretly elope with her 24-year-old high school sweetheart at age 16 and said she wanted to have a 14th child days before arrest: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5289527/David-Louise-Turpin-eloped-16.html

wow..LTs family seem kind of odd. Seems like her mother was afraid of the dad. Maybe possible LT was sexually abused by dad and mom was trying to help her escape?

im also wondering if LT is mentally stunted at being a child..if she was sexually abused, it'd make sense How she'd get stuck mentally at a certain age. She's certainly kept her hair as it was when she was younger, David has kept his the same as well. Also LT seems to dress the kids in a fashion that she wore as a child.

i bet the families are making tons of money off this story. I'm surprised one of the siblings haven't disclosed abuse as children.

Meanwhile, voicemails left by Louise Turpin, the mother of the children, to her brother Billy, have been released.

“Hi, Billy, it's me. I'm sorry I missed your call a couple of hours just. Love you, bye,” she said in a message left for her brother, Billy Lambert, just five weeks ago.

She followed up with another voicemail a short time later.

“Hello Billy, it's Louise. I guess we had a bad connection and anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I talked to the lawyer and he did get those papers back,” she said.

Yep. Anyone I ever knew in defense that worked that shift chose to do it - requested it, rather than it being an assigned position (usually, guys with wives who are night nurses so they can be one the same schedule). I think there was a reason he worked that shift, but I doubt it was a benign one.

Ok I think most of us on WS agree that homeschooling sure needs an overlook in some states whereby more checks need done.

Please can we move on from this...

Yes, please. Before a mod steps in and shuts down the thread.

One of the siblings did mention abuse, starting when L left home...

I wonder how/why “mom” has a hired defence lawyer and “dad” doesn’t. I don’t have a link but I’m pretty sure it’s out there.
Where would she get funds for it? From him? I hope for the kids sake they just plead guilty and are locked away.
Jmo.

Neighbour Erica Carmona, who lived on the same street for three years, said she had no idea 13 kids lived in the house.

She told Sun Online: "I only ever saw one boy and one girl and they were short and very skinny.

"They looked sad and weird. Their clothes were weird - the girl had like a long skirt and the boy had pyjamas on or something like that - it was strange.

"The kids I saw were the older ones I think maybe 18 or 20 but it was hard to tell because they looked younger. Everyone is very shocked around here."

They have. LT's sister, the red head, E.J. was the first to come out and make her TV appearances. She claimed after
LT married and left home, daddy started "picking on her" sexually. So we all wondered is LT was the victim before she
left. It would explain her 'allowing' it to happen in her own home. Generational Abuse and Ignorance go together.
Instead of learning from their own past abuse they simply perpetuate the dysfunction.

Did you happen to notice the photo of Louise's mother in the latest DM article? She has a very, very strange body habitus. It really does look like a genetic...something
