I am trying to imagine how things went down once our brave hero escaped. Did the other sister return to the inside of the house? If so, how did she get back in? Were the parents alerted?

In the meantime, did Survivor #8 wait down the street? Was she able to provide an address, or could the dispatcher determine the location from the cell phone? I can't stop thinking about how terrified she must have been while waiting, especially without knowing what the outcome would be.

God bless her!

This has been running through my mind as well. Also how did she know to use the cell phone to call 911? Do deactivated phones just automatically dial 911 when someone tries to make a call.

That is certainly one amazingly brave girl!

Those who were tied/ chained up, for the time they were bound (up to weeks & even months, apparently) were not released when they needed to relieve themselves.

Those who were not tied, hogtied, or chained may have been allowed to use the bathroom, though I imagine that wasn't consistently "allowed" either, since they were allegedly locked in their (2-3 total bedrooms) most of the time.

Hi Hope, good to see you! Makes more sense to me now, maybe if the child being punished was not allowed to use the toilet creating even more shame and punishment to all of the others who had to endure it as well.

Ha! Hi Durham, lol! Had you heard about this word of faith stuff? They are worth looking into if you haven't. It's a constant circus. Hoping with some if he recent stuff that's come to light, the operation can get shut down. County corruption here is largely responsible for letting it get out of hand and we've finally "cleaned house" where that goes.

Yes. It’s regularly been on the local news here.

I'm really thinking that someone in the media misunderstood something and is jumping the gun about plans to already place the kids in foster care. It's way too soon. The way medical experts were describing in interviews how precarious the "refeeding" process is in a case of severe starvation and malnourishment like this, I just don't think 1 week in a hospital is nearly enough time. From what I read, they can't do it too fast because otherwise the patient can actually go into shock and DIE. It hasn't even been a week since the kids were rescued. They were bringing them back slowly with IV fluids, then gradually solid food. They have to very slowly increase the calorie intake. And considering how weak the kids must have been and muscle wasting, they probably couldn't even walk right. So even when the nutrition is stabilized and their digestive system starts working again, they would likely need physical therapy to even walk right. A neurologist would have to evaluate how severe the neuropathy is. All of this takes time. And there are 13 kids. In 1 week? There's just no way.

I'm betting that someone misheard something. Maybe the kids are showing some improvement and they're being moved to a different area of the hospital? Maybe they think that they might be able to be moved to another facility for physical rehabilitation? My impression from everything I heard about the kids when they were found, and from what doctors were saying is that they were in very severe condition and some were close to death. They seemed especially worried about the 29 year old girl. I fully expected them to be in the hospital for WEEKS. Plural.

They will have to be discharged by the medical staff at the hospital and have a discharge plan. That's the only way they can leave the hospital.

Yes, I believe so, as long as it’s charged
Edit: I answered a question you didn’t ask. You can call 911 from deactivated phones. The phone doesn’t automatically call 911.

This was requested a few times pages back but I think I've missed a response.

Can someone please get shots of the Riverside Court documents? Upload here or elsewhere and link that?

Riverside courts won't load for me in any browser even with updated settings and VPN software. I've been trying since charges were filed. I can access other courts/jurisdictions but not Riverside.

Mods delete if notnok. Not a verified press person but From Allison Argrin who played Nellie on Little House on the prairie. She’s a big child abuse advocate, especially sexual abuse. She teeeted a link to an article with details I hadn’t heard before

“They kept lights on at all hours, blinds drawn. One Christmas they bought eight new children’s bicycles that sat outside, unused, until they became sun bleached.”

“David Turpin would stand in the driveway shooting cans with his pistol, aiming toward the road.”

If his account is accurate, the daughter who tried to run away soon after they moved there (in 1999) had to have been the first born. She would only have been 11, though. Asking about how to get a driver's license at 11?

I'm so fascinated by their interactions at the Elvis wedding. Watch the one minute from 23 minutes. There seems to be some genuine engagement between LT and her daughter.

I don't get it. How can you be so evil one moment and yet still be able to create this sort of environment, even if it was for show?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_FShQVnJIw

I have just a few things that I would like to say.

<modsnip>

Second those poor girls teetering around on high heels that was so obviously the first time they had ever worn them nearly falling down sickened me to my core and the little boy (James, Johnathon?) dancing with those stick like legs was heartbreaking.

That being said, renewing your vows three times? Methinks they doth protest too much is all I can say. I have been married close to 48 years to hubby and a while back my sister asked me if we wanted to renew our vows on our 50th wedding anniversary. I asked her why I would want to do that since obviously they took the first time. That whole vow renewal thing is a huge waste of money to me. My money could be better spent taking a nice vacation to somewhere I haven't been before. But that is just me and I know some people like that kind of stuff. But three times? I think those vow renewals were all for show. A video to put on face book to show the world how in love they were and how happy the family was.

Now on to grandma and her statement of how nice and normal the family was 5 years ago when she visited for a week. "sweetie this and sweetie that and those kids never argued not even once." Come on Grandma, 1 week in 1 house with 12 kids and not one fight broke out among them? And you thought that was normal? I don't know what world grandma was living in but it sure wasn't the real world. My two youngest grandsons can't go one day without arguing over something.

Then we have auntie dear telling how when she was a teenager she lived with them and DT would watch her in the shower. She sounds like she is a few bricks shy of a full load. If my BIL had walked in while I was taking a shower and watched me I would have been screaming bloody heck and filing charges with LE. What is wrong with this whole family that they thought that was okay?

On the hand washing and once a year shower. Didn't California go through a severe drought in recent years? I can't help but think that they may have been threatened with fines if they used an excessive amount of water and that maybe the water bills there are very high because of the drought. Maybe someone who lives in CA could weigh in on the cost of water and fines for excessive use during the drought. That could have been how that started.

But there is no excuse for starving those kids. <modsnip> Those poor kids with their stick legs standing beside them was a travesty.

Just one of those sport cars they had would have fed those kids for a while. And a 386,000.00 house? In my opinion those kids would have been better off in a 25 thousand dollar shack with food in their belly. But again I think the 386 thousand dollar house, the sports cars, the trips to Disney, the vow renewals were all to show the folks back home how well the family was doing in CA. All of it was for show. To show how normal and happy they were.

These two people are sick, and in my opinion should be locked up after they are sterilized so they can never bring another child into the world.

Since the survivors have cousins their age and they went on family trips, I assume they would have seen cell phones. Teens tend to be glued to their cellphones. They probably also watched their parents use them if they were ever ‘not’ locked away. If the oldest son was in class with other kids he would also have seen phones.

Yes most phones and certainly all newer phones allow for emergency calls on a deactivated phone. This is why there are often collections of old, unused phones for battered women’s shelters.

The only thing I can think of is allowing him to attend the class (a Music class from what I have read) may have been a reward for something

How would the neighbor know its a 29 yr old....they wouldnt. that 29 yr old adult looks like a kid.

I often think that they are also dressed alike because you could move some in and out of the house and nobody would really be able to tell how many kids there really are unless they are ALL seen together. they are all too close in shape/size/looks. couple outside doing yard work. bring them in, send a couple of others out. it would look like the same kids. IMO some neighbors didnt know kids lived there, others knew but had no idea how many.

dressing alike in outings, I can understand. If one goes missing you know exactly what they are wearing. my child's charter school does this - they have to wear their uniforms on field trips so if one is missing - they can easily describe the child to LE.

I think it’s also a matter of control. The children not allowed any individuality.

Someone was questions who may have taken the pictures that the owner of the previous home found. I remember the news interviews stating that the 17 year old had pictures that she showed the police to confirm what she was telling them. Since they previously moved after one child escaped, it makes me think maybe they were taken by one of the older children as the previous escape was planned. I think that if the parents realized the photos existed those pictures would have never been seen.

My impression was that the pictures were probably taken with and on the phone she used to call 911 with. It sounds like she knew she would have to have proof. So she took pictures as evidence. That's my guess anyway. I kinda doubt that the parents had any incriminating pictures around the house.

I hadn't really considered whether Louise was being abused also. I just assumed she was calling the shots and either way she was obviously complicit.

However I did notice she kept doing a strange coughing thing in the first vow renewal video - this can be a symptom of near strangulations. She also seems to really pull away when David kisses her. It's quite noticeable.

‘He Was Famished': Former College Classmate of Tortured Child Describes Encounter

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/...r-Sharing-Music-Class-With-Him-470086943.html

Angie Parra took a music class with one of the older children of the brood at Mount San Jacinto College. She described the young man as a "sweet, but odd introvert" in an interview with NBC4.
Parra also said he was "famished" and recalled when he scarfed down food at a school potluck.
"He stood by the table and didn’t sit down," Parra said. "He literally ate plate after plate after plate."

Not to bring up the school debate again, but I wonder why the professor didn't find anything odd enough about the boy's behavior to report. Seeing all that plus the mom standing outside his classroom week after week would be alarming to me.

I know that news stories have said that DT and LT were the parents of all 13 children, but has that actually been DNA proved?

Just I have been thinking about the timeline, charges, etc.

DT has been charged with a lewd act with a child under 14. Why only one charge? Why only one child? How was that crime discovered so quickly, when you would imagine they would still be yet to fully question the children over what went on?

I'm wondering because the 17 yr old girl started planning to escape around two years ago, and the youngest child was born around two years ago. Was the 17yr old the real mum of the young baby? I mean we are talking in approximates. So if the 17yr old is say 17yrs and 3 months old ... and the two yr old it 2 yrs and 10 months, then the 17yr old could have been pregnant around age 13 or 14 ... which could explain why the lewd act charges were so quickly made.

I think that when we examine the withdrawl of the family from their own relatives that David was the more controlling one than Louise. If we believe the sister's story about David kidnapping Louise from her high school than driving 1000 miles away to elope, I think David saw Louise as a very nieve target that he could easily manipulate. He conned her with mind-control for many years and it got to such an extent that she began to play his games. David brainwashed her. It got to the point that what she saw in her life was only what David wanted her to see and do as he pleased. She than began to see his behavior as normal.

Now, this is just my theory and it could be wrong to an extent that we don't really know about Louise and her behavior before she met David. If none of the above occurred pre-David, than I would have to say that he was the one who perpetrated all this horror and than she just accept it. I am sure that David abused her. I think these were very backword religious type people who were serious Bible Thumpers. Both may have taken the phrase, "Spare the rod and Spoil the Child" as a way to somehow justify the abuse of their children. Thinking in their strange ways that discipline was essential to maintain control because "See, the Bible says...." Just a feeling that I have,

But what I don't get is, why would they justify the children living in filth? What about, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." I am also trying to figure out their obsession with Disney. I really hope that they do not get off because they are judged "insane." Yet there is such a psycho twist to both of them, that sadly this could be possible. I don't think it will happen in the end, just saying that it could.

Satch

See this is what I don’t understand!!! The sister is telling these stories about David. He kidnapped Louise, he walked in on the sister in the shower. She knew he was “off” in some way but she never worried about the children??????

I’m just at my wits end with this case!!!!
