Regarding that picture on the wall - I have two thoughts:1). It's a rudimentary bullseye game. If you zoom in, you can see little dots inside the circles, like pencils or pens had been thrown at it (which they probably had, in light of the journaling).

2). It looks like a caricature of a fat person. Look at the pig nose. I wonder if LT and/or DT are fat phobes - and so the starvation of the kids started in part to avoid them gaining weight (and then was taken to a sadistic extreme). They taught the kids that being fat was the worst, and so by making their target a fat person, the kids get to take their frustration out on what they've been taught to revile.

In some of the picture of LT's family, LT's mother looks extremely thin, so there's a possibility that LT grew up in an environment of body dysmorphia and fat-phobia. The starving of her children could maybe be anorexia by proxy.

(I know DT and LT weren't slim themselves, especially in the most recent years, but if they were delusional NPDs, they wouldn't have an accurate self-perception.)

Pure speculation on my part.

Can the county force them to live in a certain location, though? If the adults want to leave, can they? If one or more of the adults tries to leave, can the county go pick them up and restrain them? IDK

Several days ago it was reported that the county was awarded conservatorship of the adult children. Frankly, I doubt the children want to leave at this point. They must feel very safe and also physically comfortable perhaps for the first time in their lives.

Did I see a photo of DT from earlier years where he appeared to be about 100 lbs overweight? For the life of me, I can't remember where I saw that, but I remember thinking, dang, he was really big a few years ago.

I have to admit that I haven’t been able to keep up with all the posts here, but it seems like there is a consensus that LT is the person that is most responsible for the abuse. I have to ask what this conclusion is based on? Is not DT just as responsible? Or maybe even more? What in the information given by the LE makes LT more of a culprit?

It is very possible that this is the case, but I can’t recall seeing any statements to this that proves it is a fact.

In the case of locked refrigerators, cabinet, freezers, and whatever else might be used to store food...

If the people in the house aren't starving, then that is one thing. If the people in the house are so malnourished as to need hospitalization, that is another thing entirely.

I am not trying to excuse her as I am aware of the options you mentioned. What I mean is if she would not do it, from what has been said, AND no one else could (from what has been said).

No one can open a pop tart if they're still at the store. No one can make a bowl of cereal if the milk and cereal are locked away.

In some neglect cases, the victims were young children who couldn't reach things on their own. In this case, they were older yet seem to have been prevented.
I'm sure she kept all food locked up and controlled it. It was said "the children were fed on a schedule.

That makes sense because DT's brother evidently has written a book about fasting. The parents may have required the children to create their own games and that's why other toys were ignored.

I have read all posts in all threads.

He is to blame as much as her seems to be most people's feelings, IMO.

When arrested, he was 220 lbs at 6'1" height.

LT was a stay-at-home mother and primary caregiver. DT worked.

With relation to the house having been flooded, I live near Houston where many houses recently flooded. In my neighborhood any house that was flooded had portions of the affected sheet rock cut out and replaced as well as mound treatment and installing new flooring. I don’t think the Turpins could have lived in a flood damaged house without it needing restoration. The houses near here stank!

Did he work out of the house? I got the impression that he worked at home. If he worked out of the house then he would have been the only one that didn't sleep during the day. I thought it was reported that everyone went to bed at 4 or 5 in the morning.

I doubt the Texas living conditions will be brought into this case. I think the charges only cover the past four years.

If anyone looks at the pics I posted made by sexually abused children, it is striking how that dark thing in the center is so much the same as some pics made by sexaully abused children. It is jarring to look at now for me.

Yes, she was the primary care giver but there is nothing (that I know of) that says that she is the dominant parter.

I think whatever "cult" they decided to follow had her in charge of all things at home. Even if he worked from home, LT was the primary caregiver of the children during his work hours but it really doesn't matter. The Prosecutor is throwing the book at both of them and deservedly so.

On their bankruptcy filing, it was stated that she worked and made $10,000. No one has identified where she worked.

In the bankruptcy docs, his paychecks show he worked the second shift at the time. Which aligns with the kids sleep schedule IMO.

It would be interesting to hear what DT's coworkers thought about him. I can't imagine that his clothing would have been "smell-free." The stench would probably permeate even clean clothing.

He worked at night.

I got the impression he went away from home to work. But, I do not know to be 100% sure.

They were moving because he got transferred though.
