What I find shocking, though frankly I don't know why, is how absolutely uninformed so many in this country are about the very origins of this country, or even world history in general. A common point of reference is only as long as the individual has been alive, though for some it may only be as long as their last text message. It's like the world only started when they came into it and then that world revolves around them (or should).

Learning about what has happened in decades and centuries and millenia past, and gaining the perspective of the 10,000 ft and 30,000 ft view (i.e. a wider and larger perspective) is enlightening, I've found.

That is what drives me nuts about "be vigilent" where are these people - everyone is looking down at their cell phones constantly

I have seen a motorcycle guy on his cell and the other day i saw a guy pumping gas on his cell phone

its messed up

Yup Me To....The fans blowing in our church kepted blowing off my tissue so my grandma took a Bobbi pin and stuck it in place. She was furious at me.

Ha! A fellow sufferer! My Grandma kept her Kleenex up her sleeve, (or on my head).

I am wondering of those who have felt discriminated againnst lately give the long eye to muslims they see on the sreet? I bet so.

II had to go to wallmart today and it was very unsetttling. I felt like I was eyeballing everyone. My husgand is taking my so to see Star Wars when it comes out and I wannt tto forbid tthem tto go. But tthat's ot goig tto happen. I unnderstad we live our life so tterrorist don't win but it's hard.

I think we can be fairly confident that those busy looking at their cell phones are not about to attack a group of people. Not 100% of course, but if their only weapon is a cell phone, you know their focus is deep within the content on that phone.

However, when a radical Caliph style foreign leader OF ANY RELIGION, with thousands, possibly millions of fanatical followers call for the deaths of all infidels, well sure I support self policing!!!

Why do you assume my attention to THIS particular issue means I am ignorant or blind to all of the other issues you feel the need to school me on? Madeline, when you decide someday to engage me in conversation, I will entertain your views but as I've told you in the past all you do is lecture. Not interested here. Sorry and thank you.

Jewish women are held in very high regard. The reason Jewish women cover their heads is for modesty, to protect the man from being drawn to them and possibly committing adultry. Men and women sit separately at synagogue so they can focus on prayer and not be distracted with each other.

Jewish men are taught and encouraged to worship their wives and put them on a pedestal. Jewish women are considered holier than men and can be the cause of happiness and success or failure and misery. FYI

But if you're staring at your phone you're not being vigilant. I think that's what CARIIS was getting at. We're not all out there on the lookout with our heads up, searching for suspicious activity.

I'm still unclear on the definitions of either of those.

Supposedly the same in Italian families, Greek families, etc etc. Strong matriarchs across the board can be found. Women know how to take charge!

Yes you're correct. Vigilance can't be legislated so those who are will continue to be, I imagine, and those who aren't will continue their way. Good or bad we tend to be creatures of habit.

Difference is... In Judaism, it is commanded by God.
There are many books/scriptures that pertain to this topic specifically.
It's actually very interesting.
