what is the signficance of the tissue?
Ah, a good Catholic girl in the 60s never attended church with a bare head. My daughter who is 19 doesn't believe me about this. My mother wasn't as attentive in this department so my Grandma came equipped with an arsenal of Kleenex tissues to plop on our heads, not the cloth hankies mind you, it was the wispy disposables with the million folds in em. Humiliating!

San Bernardino shooting survivor struggles to make sense of attack
12/04/15 10:40 PM—Updated 12/04/15 10:44 PM
By Amanda Sakuma

SAN BERNARDINO, California — It’s a miracle that AK survived. She had already been shot three times — once in each arm, another time in the stomach. Two more shots could have easily ended her life.

Instead, the bullets whizzed above her head, sinking deep into the wall behind her.

[...]

...K’s husband, S, expressed little doubt over how to both define the horrific slayings and differentiate them from the traditional teachings of Islam.

“This is definitely [an] act of terrorism — killing innocent human beings,” he told the congregation after prayer at the Islamic Center of Riverside on Friday afternoon.

[...]

“My faith has not been shaken at all, with all of these things,” K later told MSNBC. “You have to look at the crime one way and the religion another way. But it’s easy to just blame a religion.”

Thursday night was the first time in 48 hours that K was finally able to close his eyes and sleep. His wife is still struggling to do the same. She only has a single bandage left on her arm from where the bullet pierced her skin, but the wounds of trauma will linger for some time.

In rapid flashes of gunfire, she watched 12 of her colleagues die. One of the assailants who pulled the trigger, she says, was another fellow co-worker that she knew fairly well.

And yet A survived.

So very sad. I can't imagine.

In the Catholic Church, before Vatican II changed everything, women were supposed to have their heads covered in church. If you forgot your hat, you could wear a handkerchief on your head. I personally never saw Kleenex, but I'm sure that happened, too. Women are not required to wear hats these days, but some traditional Catholic women still wear hats or chapel veils, because they want to.

Do people really understad itt's these off shoot terrorists tthat scares me most. ISIS or Al Queda may nott have specifcally planned and sannctioned tthese attacks (and the ones yet tto come) but we need to be weary of tthese sympathizzers ad wanna be ISIS people. Our locall high school foottball team is playinng at Dallas Cowboy stadium ttomorrow and it scares the crap out of me thatt my son wants to go there annd watch the game.

It scares me to go to the mall for Christmas shopping. I didn't do black friday shopping because these are obfious targes. I don't wannt tto cower but i don't want to put myself and my family out there for easy pickins either. If it cann happe in San Bernarding, it cann happen in small ttown Texas. we gottta be vigilannt. MOO

“She is more emotionally disturbed than physically,” Kondoker said of his wife. “This is unbelievable to imagine.”

I have a feeling it's going to be harder to heal emotionally too.

o/t Temple Torment

I got kicked out of the temple in terms of Bar mitz training. Hebrew is hard as heck and bored me to tears.

I hated it - except the Swiss Miss chocolate milk!

I found the button that rang the bell and let out the school.

The witch came in , I ran and tripped on a palm branch - she grabbed my arm and pulled me back into a classroom and told me to give her my parents number .

Initally I refused, but then realized the gig was up. There was a big party going on at home so I did not really get into trouble the next day!

A week later they told me I did not have to go any longer. Thrilled. About 10 years later I found out that she refused to have me in classes any longer.

When I found out how much money a neighbor made on his I went back and begged to learn the deal. They said forget it !!

And hey some churches have some awesome get down music

- trust me a canter is no match for a choir who is clapping and swaying and hit high notes !!

Its like listening to somene sing a slow boring song in chinese!

r for a kid that is fidgety as it is -- torture

and having to keep a sharp eye on out for when you needed to stand up was quite a hassle for me as well, since I had no clue why we bopping up and down for some reason!!

ANother Sunday school adventrue . In our neighborhood the mothers rotated taking all of us in the neighborhood to Sunday school - that way they only had to be bothered with their kids once every 5 weeks . They did the same thing for regular school , each mom only had to deal with getting their offspring to school one day per week! More time for shopping

Mrs Jaffee had a Rambler (like I am doing now) and it had push button tranmsision. OH it tickled me so at red lights to push the button into "N" and when the light changed listen to the engine roar while we went nowhere! Ticklet me to death

ok back on topic

I'm scared too MIKAYOYO. Isn't that awful? I dropped my son (15) at the movies tonight. My daughter (19) has tickets to go to a Giants game next week, we are planning to fly to Dallas this winter and Mexico this summer, and you know what? If I should stay home and hide and show my kids my fear then they win. ( they being any terroristic entity for the PC police). Also I refuse to live that way. It's fine to be scared, but I hope you find the courage to live life big, right in their face!!![emoji4]

Ok, whose writing your material CARIIS? Steelman? I'm in bed here, with my Ambien (horrible insomniac) and I'm getting all fuzzy like and along comes your post. I laugh loud and totally wake myself up!

BTW, your Witch sounds suspiciously like Sister Mary Antoinette the holy Terror of St Leos school (still shaking).

It would be awesome for them to form a group for group therapy. In the beginning not a support group a therapist group

I feel you big time. Is this really going to be our new reality? This is what I wonder. It's not fair. How dare they.
And prayers and peace to you and yours as well.

IF it would quiet down a bit , we will settle a bit --I promise you , nojoke, when I heard some car backfire tonight , I was more aware , then thought please its a car backfiring , but then it happened again, 40 seconds again, and I am thinking that sounds like all the damn gunfire i have listened to the last 6 weeks.

and I told myself if I hear sirens I am switching to local news all is well- its normal

until Boston I had never hears a real gun before - and they do not sound at all like in the movies or tv - they are agiating.

Now if we dont have a break between attacks that could become a real issue

I would just like to say thank you to Bessie for allowing us a little (OK alot) of wiggle room here tonight. This has been an awful tragedy and it has been so very therapeutic to come here and discourse with all of our fellow WSers about the news, the implications and even the stupid humor. Thank you Bessie, you do rock!

I was confused by this also. It was they found go pro boxes, in their car or condo

Fox news .... reported that GoPro packaging is on the list of items seized by FBI from car belonging or related to the terrorists that is outside of their home.
