CA - 4 Pepperdine students killed in crash, Malibu, Oct 2023 *arrest*

Fraser Bohm has pleaded not guilty and hired a celebrity lawyer. Alan Jackson, who recently represented Karen Read in her 2nd trial. She was acquitted of running over her ex-husband.

Yes. Changing attorneys, or rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic?

The defense the perpetrator had put forward is ridiculous. He was cut off from someone, and that is why he hit the young women? So...why was he going over 100 mph? When I get cut off, I am usually going, in that area, maybe 35?

Time for him to get ready to do some hard time.

I can’t see how Alan Jackson could get this kid off. Hmm, is he going to plea?
Jackson was so loved by many during KR trial. Just curious how the true crime community is going to see him in this case.

I should be blown away by the lack of coverage of these deaths and the legal aftermath, but I”m not.
This case may impact how reckless driving and a car as a weapon may be viewed in court, and if a rich kid can get off with a good attorney or if victims will get justice.

Maybe it will take more injustice here for people to pay attention.

18 yr old rich kid driving in excess of 104 mph on Pacific Coast Hwy runs over four college students standing on a sidewalk waiting to get into a venue.

But- CA knows this area is unsafe
Kid presence as entitled and lacking any remorse- seems pretty certain his multimillion family will get him off from responsibility.

We will see what kind of integrity Alan Jackson has- defender of the wrongly accused or defense attorney to the rich who pay?? It sure looks like he is chasing $$

Heartbreaking loss
IMO

“ But Rubinson pointed out that Bohm’s bail had already been lowered from an initial amount of $8 million — $2 million for each murder charge — and said the family is welcome to use free, public defense if they are as penniless as they claim to be.”

replying to myself -
As someone who closely watched AJackson in the karen Read case I am interested in his approach here.
For him to say that the reason he wanted bail lowered was to allow his client money to pay his legal fees and investigators ... solely... seems off brand for him.
I have not seen the motion/filing on this but there has to be more to it ? Were there comparables and other reasons ?
Bail largely is to make sure the person appears in court/is not a flight risk and not a liability to the community/going to commit more crimes.
So for the judge to say he assessed each death initially at $2m seems inappropriate too.

The judge, Judge Thomas Rubinson (Thomas Rubinson} seems annoyed they hired Jackson. I wonder if they have crossed paths in the past.

The next pre-trial hearing will take place Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. at the Van Nuys Courthouse where the court will set realistic expectations of the trial.

Looks like AJ will go for a lesser charge - he lays it out near the end of his interview here with Billy bush.

Hasn't Bohm been living at home? Now he is in custody? When did he go to jail? Okay. I see, he is still at home, they wanted to reduce bail, to have more money for the attorney. Denied!!!!

This article was interesting to read, because even families that live in Malibu, do not have endless amounts of cash for bail and high priced attorneys.

After KR was found not guilty within days AJ announced he was representing FB.
I don;t know if it was in the works or after seeing the NG his parents jumped on it.

AJ told BB that FB was going more like 70 mph and not 104 mph.
That's a huge difference but even going 70 in a 45 is reckless speeding.

I can see it now, the "Affluence" defense? Remember that guy?

The difference is that Ethan Couch was 16 years old at the time of his crime. Fraser Bohm is over 18, an adult. Or rather "adult".

@ 56:07 AJ said to BB "I don't believe FB did anything criminal"

That is a loaded claim so AJ must believe that he has the evidence to prove it to a jury or is that just defense lawyer talk outside a courtroom?

The defense attorney is blowing smoke. There is no defense for the speeding issue. The accused can blame "road rage" on another driver, whatever. If someone is trying to push my car off the road, I would slow down, and let them pass me.

Not speed up.

@ 3:40 BB asks AJ about using road rage and was FB trying to outrun the supposed (RR) other driver.

AJ says "not outrun him to get away from him".
I assume that forensics can find out what speed FB was traveling before stopping at the light(?) alongside the other driver that testified to seeing him texting while he told him that he was going to get hurt driving like that.

So AJ is running with FB's prior lawyer's defense.
AJ also said that FB was going around 70 mph not 104 mph and I'm curious where AJ came up with that number?

April 30, 2025
Snip:

"The four were struck as they walked along the shoulder area after getting out of a vehicle in the 45 mph zone, Deputy District Attorney Nathan Bartos told the judge.

"They were killed because of the driving of the defendant," the prosecutor said, noting that data retrieved from a device in Bohm's BMW indicated that the vehicle accelerated from 93 mph to 104 mph just 2 1/2 seconds before the first of three impacts were detected.

Defense attorney Michael Kraut has questioned the accuracy of the speed figures, arguing that the data from the so-called "black box" is "not accurate" and noting that there are warnings that such data could be inaccurate.

Bohm's attorney -- who objected to the murder charges -- told the judge that the young man was being "chased in a road-rage incident" and "accelerated" before the deadly crash.

My sense and pretty much what they are signaling, is that they are looking for a plea deal bc they believe he has been overcharged. They are not saying he did not cause the accident. He is and will be held accountable one way or another.
Lets get all the facts and then go from there. I know in the Karen Read case, in my neck of the woods, LE told msm that Karen was caught on camera backing into her boyfriend John with her SUV. There NEVER was anything on camera showing that and it was proven that never happened. So let's wait for the actual facts.
LE embellishes at times.
Was it 100mph or 70mph ? A collision at 50 mph may likely have caused the same result imo. We will have to wait for the engineers/reconstructionists. ( I dont think we have seen anything like that yet).

There have been numerous collisions on this "dead man's" curve ( what is was called prior to FB's behavior taking the lives of four students and continues to be called). And fatalities. So lets see what the other charges were/are?

I've never driven this stretch of the PCH when visiting CA but a quick walk around on google maps shows it to be a nightmare of congestion, no sidewalks, speeding cars/people/restaurants /students/fraternity parties/ etc. Hard to believe that stretch gets no attention from year to year. See link referencing the current lawsuit about this- it's an illuminating/disturbing read. I don't think it's mitigating for BP none the less good for context. Sorry if already posted.

"The tragic crash that killed four Pepperdine students on the infamous stretch of PCH known as “Dead Man’s Curve” has sparked a major lawsuit against Caltrans and other government entities. This guide provides an in-depth look at the key facts, legal issues, and causes of action in this complex and high-stakes case."

All the talk in msm about his "privelege" actually makes my blood boil.
Calling him a spoiled rich kid - His parents financial circumstances in my mind are beside the point. It should have no bearing.
What kind of car he was driving - not material - old American cars can do top speeds and kill too.
And the same with all the other extraneous details that are supposed trappings of his "cush" lifestyle
Judging a kid by his parents wealth and pretending to know what his life was/is like not cool imo.

We will find out more about this horrific tragedy on October 8th.

ALL JMO

I don't believe that AJ is going for a plea deal.

AJ was very clear when telling Billy Bush that FB did nothing that was criminal which is quite different from wanting the 4 murder charges downgraded, a motion that most defense attorneys automatically file for whatever the charge.
imo
