I don't intend to be inflammatory...
- What about the possibility of him faking a disappearance in order to go "underground"?

I realize there is nothing factual to suggest this. This is pure speculation.

After the Sunil Tripathi case and what his family had to endure due to similar speculation, I really hesitate to discuss anything like that.

Anything is possible, but I'm not seeing anything to support that. If a person wants to bail from their life, they can just walk away without a "story", kwim? I *do* think that there is far more to this story than we're seeing since the fbi is involved. They must know something! My fear is that they suspect or have evidence of foul play. Nothing else is making sense to me.

Honestly, I don't feel the question I posted is likely. The question arose in my mind, and I thought I would share it.

Honestly, fwiw, you are not alone in your thinking...So don't let anyone make you feel bad.

I didn't realize Abdullah lives with his two cousins and a friend...and his bro is the one who traced the phone to Beaumont ---- so does he also live with his brother?

ETA: brother is also roommate http://www.enjoygram.com/zara.z9

...Alkadi’s two cousins and a friend, all of whom were Abdullah’s roommates, last saw him at their home in the 9900 block of Reseda Boulevard on Sept. 17. He was reported missing early the next morning, his brother Ahmed Alkadi has said, adding that it was very uncharacteristic of his brother to disappear without being in contact with any family members.

Around the time he disappeared, Abdullah Alkadi sold one of his cars, an Audi S-5, via Craigslist, Ahmed Alkadi said. When his phone was still active, Ahmed Alkadi was able to trace it via his brother’s account to Beaumont in Riverside County. However, he has said it was “very, very odd” since neither he nor his brother have known ties there.

Do Abdullah's parents live outside the US? Are his brother and cousins handling this alone?

Knowing that he had several roommates, I wish that one or two of the other guys would have accompanied Abdullah to meet the Craig's List buyer :(

Detective Frank Flores of the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide division said the FBI is the only federal agency currently assisting the department in the search for Abdullah Alkadi, 23.

“It’s part of the investigation,” Flores said. “Given the person involved, his background, he’s a foreign student — there’s some interest.”

I am wondering if he gave his address out to one of the people from Craigslist. Maybe he had an uninvited guest after 5 pm that night? His cell last pinged in a kind of high crime area.

Possibly. Or, could someone else have observed the transaction with the buyer of the car? If it all took place out in a parking lot, who knows who may have been watching.

Find Abdullah Alkadi Instagram...

http://instagram.com/find_abdullah_alkadi?modal=true

I notice that the Missing poster says jean, blue shirt & beige shoes, so maybe the shorts was a media typo?
