A search is underway late Thursday night for a missing Poway High School student. Chelsea King, 17 was reported missing just after 7 p.m.

San Diego Police and San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies are conducting an air and ground search at Rancho Bernardo Community Park. A classmate tells News 8, King's car was found there in the parking lot and that she had planned to go running.

Investigators say King does not have any history of running away. She is 5'5, 120 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Oh no, another young girl is missing - Chelsea King from the Rancho Bernardo area. Watching her parents on the news made me think of how strong and brave Amber's family has been. It is such a nightmare to have to live. I am praying for them.

Do you think this suspect has anything to do with the latest girl missing?

Amber's story has always bothered me. How can someone disappear w/out a trace? And i do wonder if her and Chelsea's case are related at all.
I can't imagine being a parent of a missing child.

John Albert Gardner, 30, was arrested at around 4:20 p.m. local time in connection with disappearance of Chelsea King, 17, of Poway.* Gardner is a registered sex offender in the state of California.* His past offenses, as listed on California's Megan Law registered sex offender Web Site, consist of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age.






Furthermore, Sheriff Gore said investigators believe Gardner may be tied to a December 27th assault in the same park.

There's a lot of coincidences between Chelsea's case, and Ambers case. I wouldn't be surprised if the RSO arrested in Chelsea's case was somehow responsible for Ambers disappearance as well.

There are many on the Chelsea case that think there could definitely could be a connection to Amber's case. The motto - get away with it one, get away with it twice. I suggest you take a peek at the board. Lots of info on there:

I really hope Amber's case can be solved along with that of chelsea king. It will be interesting to see what develops in the coming days (although per GMA interview early this morning he is not talking)

He is right in the middle of the two locations but more interesting is that he lived close to Amber when she went missing and was staying with his family on the edge of RBCP when Chelsea went missing.

I can't believe it has already been over a year since Amber vanished. I have followed this thread since the beginning and I never thought a year later we would still be here wondering what happened to Amber.

I am feeling so torn regarding the arrest of John Gardner in Chelsea King's case. Part of me wants him to be responsible for Amber's disappereance so her family can finally find out what happened to her and hopefully bring her back home and of course the other part wants to be able to hold on to that shred of hope she is alive somewhere.

Gardner was arrested in Escondido and he used to live there so obviously the guy has connections to this place and is familar with it. I hope LE are keeping Amber in mind while they question this guy.

based on his not talking now, even though his DNA was found on Chelsea King's underwear, and also based on the fact that he denied molesting the 13 year old in 2000 I don't think this d-bag is going to say a damn thing unfortunately.

Thank You Both for your Points of Interest Maps. I really appreciate being able to see it and walk the streets.

I seriously think Amber will be found now with the information that is being explored. It is the recent arrest of JAG in the Chelsea case that may reveal his involvement in Amber's disappearance too.

There is no good feeling to this except that this creature is off our streets forever. You can pretty much bet on that.
