Angelo Domenichini's two sons warned him time and time again not to flash his cash and jewels to strangers. But the wealthy San Francisco produce merchant failed to heed his children's advice. On the night of Feb. 20, 1924, San Francisco police homicide detectives say it cost him his life.

During a late night at his favorite saloon on Broadway in the city's North Beach neighborhood, the bejeweled Italian man was flashing money and jewelry, according to police and newspaper reports at the time. The next day, his body was found at the base of a cliff in South San Francisco -- the victim of an apparent brutal assault and robbery; according to law enforcement records, his death marks the oldest cold case on file in the Bay Area.

Bumping for Angelo...

Just because it's been 96 years doesn't mean he's been forgotten.
