An at-risk man who went missing under suspicious circumstances is being sought by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Antoine Christopher Williams, 41, was last seen near Eastman Lake on Friday. His red Nissan Sentra was found crashed into a tree at the lake at 6:30 a.m., but Williams was not inside or nearby. All of his personal belongings, including his cell phone, were left inside the car, according to the department’s Facebook page.

The Sheriff’s Office believes the crash happened between 3:30 and 4 a.m.

Around 5 a.m., a black or white pickup truck was seen on ranger station surveillance video driving toward the crash site, the Sheriff’s Office said. A few minutes later, it left the area.

The Sheriff’s Office believes the crash happened between 3:30 and 4 a.m.

Williams is from out of state and not familiar with the area, the Sheriff’s Office said. He is described as being 6 feet 7 inches tall, 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. It is not known what he was wearing.

The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who was in the area at the time or knows where Williams or the truck may be to contact 559-675-7770. If Williams is spotted, call 911.

So it was a black or white truck that picked up the person who crashed the vehicle, LE believes? So if they cannot tell if it was black or white, really, they cannot say it wasn't red or blue? The info here is odd.
So, if he is not from the area, where is he from?

Where is he from? Is it possible he called someone for help? The phone is there so that should help. Very strange.

There’s only a couple roads around that lake. County Rd 29 and Ben Hur Rd also known as Road 613. This wasn’t an “I got turned around and went the wrong way.” He had to be meeting someone or camping out of his car in the recreation area. There’s no direct road to that area from the main road Hwy 99. You had to go through Madera or Chowchilla. Most likely there are traffic cameras or business cameras that would have picked up his car. That would tell them if he was arriving from the north or south.

When he crashed he could have hit his head, become disoriented and wandered quite a ways. He is a very tall man in a small sedan. Not a ton of headroom or legroom.

Is that area known for a particular activity? Homeless camp, drug transactions, prostitution, etc.

Could he have fallen into the lake? My close friend’s brother wrecked his truck. He made it out, but fell into the river. He couldn’t swim, so he drowned. Perhaps, Antione did hit his head. His first reaction could’ve been to exit the vehicle quickly to observe the damage to the vehicle and himself. Does anyone know if the lake was near to where he wrecked? I have no ideas about the black/white truck seen on camera. It’s certainly odd. Idk. jmo

Madera County Sheriffs Office News Release:
Madera County Sheriff's Office
Around 11:00am on 6/2/19, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Eastman Lake area and recovered the body of an adult male floating in the lake.

Positive identification of the man is pending completion of fingerprint analysis, however, the initial investigation indicates that it is 41 year old Antoine Christopher Williams of Fort Worth, Texas, who went missing early Friday morning.

There were no signs of trauma, and the exact cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy. Mr. Williams was located approximately one half mile from where deputies found his Nissan Sentra crashed into a tree.

Following the discovery of his vehicle Friday morning, an extensive search was conducted. MCSO SAR deployed foot, OHV and K9 searchers, Eastman Lake boat patrol rangers searched the water along the shore, and MCSO and CHP provided multiple aerial searches. Mr. Williams was ultimately located beyond the ground search area, approximately 300 feet from shore, about a 1.5 mile trek from crash to waters edge where he was found.

It remains unknown at this time why Mr. Williams was in the Eastman Lake area. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to please contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770.
