Let's say it is indeed the case and the father harmed the son at some point after the Disney trip, I would think his steps can be traced back using the cameras. We live in the age of constant digital monitoring, with so many cameras all over the place. I would think the LE would be able to find the footprint of his presence and trace the father's whereabouts.
Maybe there are some other locations suitable for getting rid of a child's body...

Where is the FBI in this? They are supposed to help police search; they should explore some different angles, in addition tthe police's version of events.

Silly question: how did the father come up with a hitman to give him advises on faking a crime scene? That is certainly not a person you keep on a speed-dial. Unless you are a shady person yourself...

if they get on the freeway after Disneyland what cameras are to trace where they go? And what use are the camera shots of them while having fun in the park when they already have the lost Disneyland camera shot showing them leaving? As to the hitman, as I've stated my theory this was preplanned so he may have been in contact with one months prior to give him tips on what to do, stage the park scene, take him to his last fun times at Disneyland to make him look like an innocent dad just having fun and so on.

And I agree it's strange the FBI isn't involved. <modsnip>

I still believe, (until someone has undeniable proof that little Ara met with harm) that he is alive, Disney was a part of the plan as well as the dad being unconscious and the gasoline soaked car. I believe he was either taken out of the county or is hidden somewhere here in the states. I think he was passed off to someone while at Disney. Does anyone know if they drove separately to Disney?

:yeahthat: This theory sounds as plausible as the opposite one.
I know most of you know more about this type of scenario than I do but I'm still not feeling it yet. I know the statistics. I hope the odds are wrong.

Spoke to my husband who explained to me that the recordings collected from the traffic cameras are not kept. :-(
I agree that Disneyland could have been the place where the child han-off took place. Do they have the actual image of the child leaving the Disney park with the family?
<modsnip>
My husband explained to me that the murder of the child does not draw FBI, a kidnapping does. Maybe the local LE decided that the child is already dead, that's why the FBI is not in the pictdure?

The next few lines are my rant against our way of living.
If we (society we live in)weremore prone to volunteering and more organized, we (volunteers) could have gotten together and search the area ourselves. Yes, I do envision few thousand people getting together, looking through their assigned section and reporting the results to the LE. It can bdone. Unfortunately, we have to reached that level of civilization where everybody feels the other preson's pain.

I saw the last image from Disneyland they are headed to the car in the parking lot no exchange. Without a passport and very expensive private jet flying across the globe even then there would be security cameras and witnesses, that theory makes no sense. And unless they lock him up in a basement with no windows someone taking him in the states doesn't make sense especially since they've already checked all family homes he doesn't seem to have extended family here. And why would he be attempting suicide only to chucked out? If he was concerned his kid was missing he would have called law enforcement. No indication child ever was at park Sat morning. <modsnip>

Where is that image at? Can you post a link here?

I can't remember the source I saw it a few weeks ago, showed father carrying boy leaving Disneyland 1am and I think his mother was by his side. I'll do a quick search if I can find it.

I wonder if it is possible to hire a private investigator simultaneously with LE working on the case.
It seems that nothing is happening lately, and time is running out...

Just heard detectives will be going back to Santa Barbara to search tomorrow.

Oh, I hope there are answers or at least some new clues they find.

Refresh my memory - whats in Santa Barbara?

Lake Cachuma is there where he said he went with the boy Friday but video and witnesses said they saw the father there but not the boy. They searched a part of the lake the father was seen. Tomorrow they'll be searching nearby small town of Solvang in wooded area population 5,400 and nearby Nojoqui Falls which is a wooded park. Apparently they have some leads.

Regarding the searching near Santa Barbara and Solvang. I'm "hoping" there was a camera "somewhere" in Solvang that lead to them to search this area. Isn't there a highway where he would have driven to get to that Lake?

TIA!

There are cameras all over Solvang. It is a big tourist town. Lots of hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants and ATM machines.

Solvang is just minutes away from Lake Cachuma. Highway 154 is the highway the Lake is on. Once you drive the few miles from Solvang to 154, it is only about 15 minutes to the Lake.

Solvang to Lake Cachuma=
17 min (11.9 mi) via CA-246 E/Mission Dr and CA-154 E

Just got a Google Alert after I posted here.... hmmm.... is Google following me??

Investigators to scour Santa Barbara again Saturday for missing 5-year-old
http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2017/06/09/santa-barbara-missing-5-year-old/

According to a sheriff’s department statement Friday, detectives have examined evidence that indicates that in addition to spending April 21 visiting the Lake Cachuma Recreation Area, the father traveled around the area near Solvang and Nojoqui Falls.

So, must have video of him being there then!

Yes, katydid - I've been to Solvang - beautiful!! I didn't really know "where" it was along that highway! Thanks for the info!

And where would Nojoqui Falls be located?? Never heard of that!

TIA!

Wonder if that evidence could have come from GPS info from either the vehicle or his phone?

Was he living with his mother at the time he went to lake Cachuma on Friday? So now it looks like in my opinion, after Disneyland he drops off his mother 2am, drives straight to the wooded areas around Solvang 4:30am. Let's say he's there until about 6am then goes to lake Cachuma.

Anyone know what the time stamp of the footage showing he enters the lake Cachuma park without the boy is timestamped? He spends the day there lying that the boy was with him with surveillance and witnesses other than the one lady say he wasn't. Then early next morning, sleep deprived and on medication falls asleep after his staging of the car, pretending he was attacked. He passes out combination of having not slept for two days plus the meds but pretends he was fine and had gone early to the park so the boy could play and was passed out as a result of someone knocking him unconscious when there were no signs of injuries or a struggle and how in the world would he have not remembered anything about it such as what the person looked like said and did. If someone attacks me with my son present I sure as heck will remember every detail.
