Hoopa is a rough rez and a lot of bad things happen around there.

I am a Hoopa Valley High School grad from nearly 50 years (specifically 49 years in 2020) ago and live about 30 miles above Hoopa on the Klamath.

There is vast empty (except for many trees) country, primarily National Forest once one gets off the Hupa and Yurok Reservations.

There is much crime, mostly drug and poverty related, but also much corruption and nepotisms in the Tribes. The "legal" pot industry has ramped up rather than dampened violence and drug thefts.

Other people have posted links from RHBB but the local internet news site offers a look at what occurs in the "Emerald Triangle".

As does the Anderson Valley Advertiser. The editor may be a trifle unhinged about some few topics, but not about heavy duty crime. Their crime reporter BE reminds me of Damon Runyon; they both were acquainted with, but not conned by, some very louche court habitues.
@BuySellTrade: Thanks for verifying what I have repeatedly posted about the ET to "outlanders".
