CA CA - Athena Lee, 4, & Mateo Lee, 2, mother found deceased, Sacramento, 8 July 2024

So, the mother was found dead in July, as of October 8 post by @PommyMommy the COD was listed as inconclusive and could not be ruled a homicide. I cannot believe we're 6 months later and there still isn't a COD. Very strange, maybe LE knows the COD but is holding that information due to an active investigation????

"Twenty-eight years is not long enough," Angelica's father, Phillip Bravo, said.

Investigators still believe the children are with their father, Cameron Lee, who was last seen crossing the border into Mexico days after Angelica was found dead.

"We can't call him a suspect because there's not a homicide to call him a suspect to as of right now," Sacramento Police spokesperson Officer Anthony Gamble said

“The autopsy revealed no evidence of significant natural disease that could have contributed to her death. However, Ms. Bravo had multiple abrasions and contusions on her head, face, torso, and extremities, along with a focal tongue hemorrhage,” the county said. “Although no definitive evidence of strangulation was identified, the possibility of asphyxiation by smothering cannot be entirely ruled out.”

It seems they're saying that it is not determinable whether she died from homicide or possibly incurred injuries related to drug use (eg. as from a fall).

  • The autopsy found no evidence of natural disease that could have contributed to her death.
  • She had scrapes and bruises on her head, face and torso as well as bleeding on her tongue.
  • There’s no definitive evidence of strangulation, but they can’t rule out the possibility she was smothered.
  • Toxicology showed MDMA, MDA and cannabinoids in her system “raising the possibility of a drug overdose.”
  • The coroner’s office concluded homicidal violence couldn’t be ruled out as a potential cause of death.

The search continues for two missing Filipino American toddlers, whose mother was found dead at her ex-partner’s home in July last year.

The toddlers’ family from Sacramento, Calif., has raised the reward to $12,000 for leads to help locate 2-year-old Mateo Lee and 4-year-old Athena Lee.

Update

A man who has been missing with his two children for eight months is now wanted in connection with their mother's death, the Sacramento Police Department said on Wednesday.

Detectives secured a warrant for murder against Lee, who also has an outstanding warrant for his arrest due to unrelated gun charges.

“Having that felony murder warrant now allows us to use some capabilities and tools that we just didn’t have when we didn’t have that warrant to bring him into custody,” Gamble said.

Gamble said that based on the evidence they have gathered, they do not believe the two children are in danger. But he said police still do not know where they are.

Overdose from "Molly" (MDMA) is unusual but not unheard of, and usually results in rapid heartbeat, hyperthermia, paranois and even hallucinations. But the overdoses often occur in crowded party like atmosphers (ii.e. concerts, festivals) where people were jammed into small spaces where it ws easy to overhead and users didn't realize they were overdosing because they were caught up in the crowd and the euphoa. https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2020-06/Ecstasy-MDMA-2020_0.pdf

But MDMA and Meth combined. That's dangerous and may not have been intentional, cross contimation is possible.

As for homocide? That's not a drug combo you are going to give something to get them to overdose intentionally. Strangulation is usually pretty evident at autopsy. Smothering? Possible - they were likely purposely vague on the autopsy findings. Here's an interesting article on the forensics of smothering. Forensic Analysis of Smothering

Details of Disappearance

On July 8, 2023, just before 7:30 p.m., authorities went to the 3700 block of Didcot Circle in Sacramento, California to respond to a report that someone was in need of medical assistance. They found the body of Angelica Marie Bravo inside the home; she had been murdered. Her children, Mateo and Athena Lee, and their father, Camron Lee, were all missing.

In April 2025, authorities issued a warrant for Cameron arrest for Bravo's murder. Authorities determined that Camron was driving a gray 2023 Honda Passport with the California license plate number 9JUS091, which which crossed into Mexico on July 10, two days after Bravo's murder. It didn't belong to Camron but was a loaner from a dealership.

The Honda was found abandoned in the Mexican city of Ensenada on July 19. There no sign of Camron or the children. Photos of Camron, Bravo and the Honda are posted with this case summary.

Authorities stated Camron has ties to southern California and may have dropped Athena and Mateo off somewhere there before he went to Mexico. They do not believe the children are in danger, but their whereabouts are unknown and their cases remain unsolved.
