"Basically threw the baby in the back of the car like a sack of potatoes, did not place the infant carrier properly in the back seat. The 19–year–old male and 16–year–old female drove off still fighting," Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin said.

According to witnesses, the car was going about 80 mph when the child came out of the car, but deputies said the speed was probably closer to 40-50 mph.
