"SUISUN CITY, Calif. (KRON) — A baby, just 16-days-old, is in critical condition Tuesday morning after he was abandoned by his father Monday in the North Bay.

Daniel Mitchell, 18, allegedly went shopping at a strip mall in Suisun City, dropped the infant off in the parking lot, and drove away.

Mitchell is also accused of a hit and run crash in Fairfield shortly after leaving his baby behind.

Officers arrested him for child endangerment, child abandonment, committing a felony while on bail, and misdemeanor possession of suspected cocaine. "

"The baby was airlifted to a children’s hospital and was in critical but stable condition. The Los Angeles Times reported that the infant suffered from a condition that required specialized care.

Police said they have found and interviewed the boy’s mother, but she is not considered a suspect."

Video of father leaving Baby. And I must say I've never seen a 17 day old baby with so much hair! He's going to be a Rock Star with that hair!

Although the mother did not abandon the child, how could she not have known about the condition that required specialized care?

Some people should lose their reproductive rights and abilities. I think if they would agree to this, they wouldn't even have to lock them up. (as long as it's a permanent fix)

I wonder if he drugged the baby before he dropped him off. Maybe to quiet him...anyway, it would require specialized treatment.

I wonder if the baby already had a condition that required specialized care or it is as a result of this?

That's what I was thinking too.
