This man's two legs and one left arm were found in a plastic bag along the Interstate 15 freeway. He had died only days prior.
He had a slender build, it was hard to estimate his height; it may be between 5'2 and 5'8. His height may be between 100 to 120 pounds.
His body hair was light brown to blond. His legs seemed to be shaved.
Looking pretty good on the ID front, according to the descritption, DNA is available, fingerprints are available, and X-rays.

Shaving body hair could be a gender identity or performance thing, or could be related to sports such as swimming or cycling. The report hasn't mentioned especially developed musculature you'd expect from a swimmer, cyclist, or even many professional dancers. It refers to build as slender, but that doesn't necessarily mean he couldn't have been an athlete or dancer.

I hugged my yoga teacher the other month, when I gave her a blanket I'd knit for her baby that wasn't quite here yet, then. Is now. She's a few inches shorter than me and much more slenderly built, mixed race with some Asian heritage, and I know had a background in dance before becoming a yoga teacher with additional teaching qualifications in Aerial (lyra, etc.) Hugging her, you could absolutely feel that she was solid muscle, even with the slightly softer 'looking' curves to her face and body from third trimester pregnancy.

So, being slender and not bulked up doesn't mean unfit or unathletic, and therefore I think it's worth considering that this Doe could have been a dancer or performer. If he was a swimmer or cyclist, I think he'd be shaving everything, so his arms would be shaved too, and they haven't said that, just the legs.

Agree with you, @cheemsg, I'm really impressed with the amount of avenues of identification they have for this Doe! Only one fingerprint, yes, but I don't think that was for want of trying, and partial DNA, and X-rays, plus toe prints! Whoever handled this Doe's remains really did their best to get everything they could.

Now, the big question is - are there any other 'partial remains' cases that could dovetail neatly with this one within a reasonable radius and timeframe? Given he was found by an interstate, the spread could be pretty large if his killer distributed his remains at intervals while driving through multiple jurisdictions.

I actually shave my legs sometimes just because my leg hair grows so thick that it irritates me. I don't think its that abnormal for a man to shave body hair, it can get annoying.
And yes, I will have a look if there's a skull on NamUs that could match him, like you say, it could be in another state.

Entirely possible. As for myself, I *don't* shave because of sensory reasons. Couldn't handle the razor burn or the itch of regrowth. I don't shave my underarms or wear makeup, either. I only started using moisturiser on my face when I hit my forties and the itch of dry skin became worse than the itch of putting goop on my face to prevent it. But I do know folks who can't abide anything but being smooth, so it absolutely makes sense our Doe might have been one of them. It does say his hair was very fine, though, and only slightly darker on his legs. Doesn't mean it didn't bother him - just talk to me about tags in clothing other folks don't notice! - but it doesn't sound like his body hair grew unusually thick or long.

I know that a big part of why cyclists do it isn't to be aerodynamic, it's for practical reasons, like wound care. (Bandaids go on and come off far less painfully.) I know dancers who do drag or showgirl stuff either shave their legs very smooth or wear multiple sets of tights so the hair doesn't show through. Another thing is, if you wear tight clothing, sometimes the hair is abraded and wears off, like the hair loss people who wig a lot get on their heads, but it tends to wear patches where the friction is worst rather than wearing evenly all over. I'd think that it would be obvious if it was that versus shaving.

Another thing I was thinking, and forgive me if this sounds like daft speculation, but if he was tortured or something, could the killer have shaved his legs to degrade him? I wonder how recent the shave was. You often hear of torturers shaving the victim's head or down there as part of the degradation, and shaving can be a fetish.

If that was the case, I think I'd expect to see either cuts from shaving being done without care for hurt, or ligature marks from our Doe being bound. Either those, or drugs from chemical restraint.

Unless the shaving began as consensual kink, and the violence came later. That would suggest ritual seduction followed by murder. Or a consensual encounter that was followed by an argument that turned deadly, followed by dismemberment as cover up.

I don't think they'd necessarily tell the public if there was cuts or ligature marks or drugs so it could be a possibility.

Yeah, I'm just spinning ideas out here. :)

Without the head or torso, it's a lot harder to speculate with a degree of accuracy, since most mortal wounds would be in those areas. I'm guessing the dismemberment was postmortem, for ease of disposal and to conceal identity. I really do hope so.
