I’d gladly trade weather. It’s 9pm at night and muggy and buggy - 81 degrees, real feel of 91 degrees and 90% humidity.

Perhaps we could talk about motive, without using names or pointing at anyone.
Revenge? Robbery? Sxual violence? Domestic abuse? Paranoia or other mental health issue?
A business deal which ended badly?

You are correct that the daytime high of 64 is wrong. But we are no longer in the 90's. We cool down pretty fast this time of year in the desert, especially at night. But the temps that she later posted were correct. Not sure why she gave the 64 daytime high.
Low to mid 70's high this weekend then back in the 80's by Wed.
We are kind of a box of chocolates till end of Oct. then we really drop.
I live in the Mojave desert, 68 years now.

Are you familiar at all with the area Barbara went missing ?
I was curious about the mention of caves-- as I didn't see any in the rock and trail photos from @sroad.

Went to a friend's wedding years back in AL. The heat was fine but too damp and humid.
I don't know what 'dry' heat is like.

Have to say I'm admiring your cat in your avatar. Gorgeous and fluffy !

In my opinion 90 degrees in high humidity is way more uncomfortable than 100 degrees in low humidity.

Our heat is pretty dry, except when we get the monsoons. They cool us down while its raining but boy when they pass and the sun comes out we really whine with the humidity.
People think we get used to the heat but I can say I just hate it.
I don't get the Bullhead City and Needles 120 degree stuff though.
Thank you about my cat.

I looked up the temperature in Needles and the lows are in the 50's and 60's over the weekend.
I would think since they usually do the drone searches in the mornings or whenever it's cooler, it would be a good time to do it.
Bodies have been found using thermal imagining up to four months after death, according to what I have read. If there is a body out there, the ground around it would still be warmer than the temperature in the environment.

We have discussed it before and I know LE may not have the means to do this and it's very costly.

Does anybody remember exactly what LE's response was to the VI's request?
I know I have asked before but I can't remember the answer. Do they have to approve it before it can be done?

I think it would be worthwhile.

IMO

If the posts haven’t been deleted Matt’s first interview he said he communicated often with his mother but only by email. There were several posts from other members after that interview link discussing how terrible RT must be for BT to have to hide her communicating with her son from RT which was all guessing so the posts were probably deleted. Unless Matt has changed his story, he said at the beginning they talked often but only by email.
On Thread #8 pg. 17, post 331, our VI states that "Robert tried to distance Barb from her own son".

That may be the reason for that particular discussion. IMHO

Yes, I think you might be the poster the VI responded to. After he read that Matt had said they communicated by email he replied, 'Thanks, I never could get an answer from him as to how they were communicating.'

It feels pertinent to know how RT was dressed for their walk out in the Mojave Preserve July 12.

Was he was more covered up with a wide brimmed hat and sleeves? Or smartly slathered on sunscreen frequently?

I note that his skin seemed fine (no visible sunburn) in the interviews, but those were done several days after, I guess?

Or is his skin (and perhaps BT’s as well) so conditioned to the constant exposure to the sun (since they live in a sunny desert locale) that he doesn’t burn?

Temperatures Close to the Turnout in Mojave. Suitable now/soon for Search? for BT?
Time for action.
Mojave desert temperatures, day time 64F night 43F.
The heat is no longer an excuse not looking for her.
@Micheline sbm bbm Thanks for post 657. Seems cooler weather all across the country.
Re bbm, the Mojave temperatures stated as fact. I'm confused, w some other posters saying temps there are much higher there.

Per ToS, could you pls provide link? Thx in adv.

I don't think it was the exact temperature, whether it be 60F or 90F, but rather the general concept that since it is getting cooler there, at least cooler than two months ago, it is no longer too hot to conduct searches.

If you Google the weather forecast in that area it will give you a weather report. That's what I did, and it only took a second. (and I still don't know my way around the internet very well.) Imo

ETA: cooler temperatures this weekend and then hotter during the week is what it looked like to me.

I just looked at the 10 day forecast for Barstow CA and Needles CA on Weather Underground and it shows how different the temps are for both nearby areas.

Barstow's highs are in the 70's and 80's for the next 10 days and Needles are in the 80's and 90's for the same time period.

I guess it depends on where exactly you are in the desert.

Temperatures Close to Turnout That Day. A Contributing Factor to Disappearance?
From media thread: Snipped by me
@al66pine thank you for your post. Respectfully (and, IMO) Kelso temperatures do not reflect temperatures at HH & Kelbaker roads. IMO, sroad provided a more accurate weather info tool. See above post from media thread for his reasoning and see below for weather link and my summary of the data for July 12th
TEMPERATURES JULY 12:
Low: 5-6AM 78.4
Greater than 90 degrees: 9AM - 6PM (90.2 at 9am and 93.5 at 6pm)
HIGH: 4PM 95.2
WEATHER link:
Sweeney Granite Mountains California
Clicking on Daily Summary and submitting July 12, 2019 produces a spreadsheet of weather data
IMO; it is kind of important to know it was hot that day, but not triple digits bc see my last statement
IMO: it’s important to know that the description of Barbara’s clothing that day was reported by RT as bikini, but LE reported underwear and Barbara Thomas (OAG.ca.gov...) published underwear.
IMO: underwear points to abandonment at the least, and doubts on my part that there were any boots at all..bc hard to put on shorts over boots
IMO: temperatures were not very important that day when it comes to data needed to help find Barbara, except that they cause rabbit holes unless reported accurately as possible
ETA: OAG.ca.gov...
ETA: ...unless reported accurately as possible

@firstsleuth :) bbm Thanks for your post and esp for quoting info source you see as more accurate than in my post earlier today. I appreciate that, and now know the sources/posts I quoted may not have been from readings the closest to the turnout.

Even using 90 - 93F temps from info provided by @sroad (Thank you :):)for your informative posts, pix, and time in reporting from your in person visit), I tend to believe that those temps could contribute to the demise of anyone out there for ~ 1 - 2 hrs that day (not saying this specifically re BT).

Again, @firstsleuth, thx for your well thought out post.

Yeah, by cool temps I meant cooler than 90's 100's for the high. I changed my post to cooler instead of "cool."
Anyway it does look like the average temperatures for October are cooler, especially at night. Imo

Maybe I missed it, but I did not see a post where anyone said they were searching.

Micheline's post suggested that people take action, now that it's not as hot as it has been, and maybe organize groups or speak to volunteers, designate a headquarters and get together and start searching again for Barbara. Friends, family, locals, whomever.

I don't know of anyone mentioning specific details about searching the area but I may have missed that particular post.

I am there right now and was referring to this weekend.

The thing is, I am right there right now, user artsy1 claims mid 90s which is not correct.

bkjgpdcym95u.png

It's not correct, I have posted weather overviews twice now, maybe you or Artsy can provide one that shows upper 90s.

I am trying to mobilize people since last night, but they rather talk about BT wearing a bikini, beer and RT.

I have a limitation ...so for myself it will be November 16 .. Walk it and Drone Grid search..if she is not found by boots on the ground then study all data collected by Drone on your home computer looking for items belonging to Barbara Thomas .. Boot .. Hat.. shorts.. etc

The locals you are trying to mobilize are talking about bikini's, beer and RT ?
I thought you said it was here at WS they were discussing this ?
Curious.

Have you contacted any SAR teams to assist you ?
Where are you contacting people to help ?
It might be a good idea for you to get in touch with RT himself-- as he knows the location and where he took the photos at.
In fact that's your best bet to getting some answers.
Yikes!

I think there is a misunderstanding here.

I don't think poster meant "mobilize" the way the military prepares or for active service or deploys people. That doesn't make any sense.

It was in reference to the conversation.

So to mobilize as to move the conversation from beer and a bikini to what we can do to help find Barbara.

Or to come together to achieve something.

I still cannot find any post where someone said they were going to search themselves, or organize a search, or "mobilize" a search party to the desert. I took it to be more of a suggestion.

IMO

Al66pine, I don't know how to alert someone and make it come up in blue, but above is the link you requested of the weather report.
Sorry, I didn't see it before.
