I may be in the minority here.... But in the absence of any statement from LE indicating they are still actively investigating her disappearance and have reason to suspect kidnapping or foul play, I am sticking with my view that *something* happened to her (probably not kidnapping) after she walked away from RT intending to go to the camper. IMO, she could still be within the area that was searched, or she could have managed to walk beyond the search area.
In other words, I'm accepting RT's story until/unless other evidence comes to light. After all, LE seems to have accepted his story, and they had access to his phone and thus his movements that day, as well as photos taken that day that show Barbara in the area searched.
I'm hoping the upcoming drone search by @cazador will be helpful...
Me, neither. I don't she became lost, I don't think she had a medical event, and I don't think she was abducted. MOO

These two brain trusts could probably have gotten away with it with the victim knowing them, had they not released her and expected nature to finish the job.
I’m this case the criminals knew the victim, I do not think some stranger picked Barbara up and help her captive all this time, only to later release her so she could ID him/her/them.

IMO, BT would have stayed in HK for the duration, caring for her brother, along with other family members . I wonder if there was anyone in the States who didn't want BT to go to HK and stay for the duration......................

Where is this lady? Something somewhere has to be hers that got left behind as a clue as to what happened to her. She didn’t get picked up by an alien ship.
I don't know, it seems like that happens routinely now with women. They just "disappear". No trace at all. Maybe it is something with the vast open space of the desert, Area 51.

My first thought is RT himself. The Reason is "FEAR" Fear of losing something..
Possibly Barbara was connected to her brother by Soul.
"A spiritual connection between two people that transcends physical boundaries."
RT would be in fear that he would lose Barbara in a divorce and he would lose assets.
His life would be cut in half at 72 years of age.. People can do terrible things for selfish reasons ..
Simple as that ..
The second thought is FEAR again .. This time because BT possesses knowledge of something.
That something is connected to others in their life. Once Barbara is out of the box she was held in, "Not even allowed to own a cell phone or computer, and with RT 24-7" then that knowledge could become public and used as a weapon. They know her brother was very street smart. An intelligent individual who was well connected.
So RT or others move to take away the threat of being exposed..

3. Put BT into a position of isolation. No water. No clothing.
4. Action takes place.
5. Call to LE for a futile search to place himself as concerned husband, victim advocate.
6. Media, Sets himself up as suspect in LE eyes. They back down.
7. Media tells theory of abduction and his daughter supports it. Then shows himself as victim.
7. Silence. Cancels flight, tells her family "She is not going to make it"
8. Lawyers up. No more communication.
9. BT son informed by LE.
8. Picks up Lexi at kennel 30 days later.
9. Drops out of sight. No further effort.

After all of this time--she's not hiding somewhere and it's obvious someone did something to her.
Occam's razor and all that.
There need to be answers for Barbara's family.
It's sad how they're left not knowing.
And now her brother has passed without being able to say a final 'goodbye' to Barbara.
My sibling passed from cancer two years ago; and we were all able to talk and cry with him.
