Do we have a timeline for the day she went missing? I know the nixle report shows 2:30pm for that day as the time they went for their walk. But since Bullhead City is less than 2 hours away from their location on Kelbaker, I’m curious what time they left their house, what time were police called and what time did police arrive? I’d love to hear the 911 call. JMO
Police were called at 3:26 p.m. :)

I'm not sure that the wind blows constantly there. Link maybe?

If I parked my car there and the wind deposited dust on my car I would not be surprised.

Maybe I need to see a before and after photo of a "clean" vehicle that parked in the Mojave and then was driven away to see how "dirty" it appears to be.

Oh man, just went out to take a picture of the truck that was detailed yesterday, but my husband must’ve driven it to work(at least I hope he did lol) I can attest to the dustiness out here. Even with dual pane windows and filters on everything, it still manages to find its way in and leave a fine little layer on the glass top tables even right after I’ve dusted! I imagine after driving around out here it would be pretty noticeable. I’ll have to check tomorrow after the truck was driven today for the true test. He drives an hour & 15 minutes each way thru this crazy desert..

California police say missing hiker who vanished 'in her bikini' was NOT abducted | Daily Mail Online
[...]

'We don't think she was abducted. It's a very remote area. There's no evidence to suggest she was abducted,' spokeswoman Jodi Miller told DailyMail.com.

The notion that Barbara may have been abducted became public after a different hiker, Shirley Powell, who was missing for days in a different national park 300 miles away, was rescued. After being found, she described being chased by a knife-wielding man.

But sheriffs say it is unlikely the same man she described has gone after Barbara.

'When that information started coming out about [the other woman], that's what created the speculation [that Barbara had been abducted] but our investigation does not indicate any signs that she was abducted,' Miller said.

Just for clarification dbdb11 stated subsequently that Barbara didn’t have a cell phone.

Thanks to PommyMommy for reposting this!
Bringing this post forward that mentions the 360° photo just to point out that the photo was apparently taken in the morning. So, I don't think it was taken on the hike which means if she used her phone to take the photo, her phone could have been left in the camper or truck (vs. the pack RT was carrying).
I have taken the liberty to edit the post & highlight the sentences that really grabbed my attention.

i don’t have the sharpest memory but i’ll try to recount as best as i can - robbie and said he needs to talk to daddy and that barbara’s missing. it was a long story that started at the beginning on friday morning and progressed chronologically throughout the day. the impression robbie gave me was that she was wearing a red cap, a bikini and carrying a travel cup with beer in it. they lost sight of each other for 5-10 minutes before she “vanished” and he went back to their rv to see if she had returned but it was still locked so that meant she hadn’t come back yet (they had put the key under a rock which they both knew the location of). so he went back to check a shaded cave that they had found together earlier thinking she may have been taking a break from the heat but she wasn’t there either. he still wasn’t worried at this point because.. i don’t remember why he said he wasn’t yet worried. maybe because they both knew the area? or this was a regular thing? idk not sure but he continued searching for her on his own. by around noon time it was getting terribly hot so he started getting worried and called 911. police arrived like 2 hours later and searched for her. robbie said throughout the day they had sniff dogs, horses, hundreds of people and even a helicopter (which unfortunately couldn’t use its infrared function because it was too hot out to get any useful readings) and nobody could find any trace of her. searched throughout the night too. nothing. she had just disappeared. robbie admits “it doesn’t make any sense” that she just wandered off and got lost and there’s no evidence.. which is why he suspects she may have been picked up in a car. also because from the spot where she went missing she had to cross a highway in order to get back to where their rv was parked. also apparently she took a 360 picture that morning from on top of a hill and the photo included a parking lot with some vehicles in it so the police are looking into their license plates/info.

robbie said that he just wants barbara back and will press no charges against the person who abducted her so long as they return her. the call was delivered in a measured tone but he broke down a bit at this point, was tough to hear:( ..abc reached out? idk if it was abc but some mainstream news outlet and i definitely heard nancy grace mentioned. robbie’s done some interviews as he wants to get the word out. but he hasn’t seen or read any of the released news and comments. it’s too much

he said he keeps returning to the spot where he lost her and overturning rocks and searching and searching hoping to find something. he was there the day he called us although i think he said he shouldn’t really go back there as protocol says he’s the first suspect. he was even held for 5hrs in a cop car on the first day. it’s been nonstop and nobody is sleeping. robbie said he had held off on calling daddy to tell him the bad news because it was such devastating news and he was hoping she would turn up.. but he couldn’t wait any longer. he also said it’s difficult to call into china and said his calls rarely go through so if we want to ask any questions or talk more we should call him.
txt msg from my sister. wish i.asked.for this.earlier...

Highlighted in red the noon reference.I have not read any where else that RT stated he called 911 at around noon. So I give this a big ?

So lets say that the truck and trailer got dusty while out in the desert. If RT hosed off this dust when he got home does this show us that he is responsible for BT's disappearance?

I bet some will say that he should do nothing but look for Barbara and anything he does besides that means he's guilty of causing her to disappear.

I don't subscribe to that idea. He was probably told to let the professionals do the searching and to stay out of their way. Doing some chores around the house may be a way to keep busy while waiting for a hopefully good outcome to this case. JMO

Agree on this point. We do all sorts of “normalizing” activities when under duress. The alternate POV is that he was cleaning away evidence.
Time will tell.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Well, I kinda thought it was the husband immediately suggesting she had been abducted that created the speculation that she had been abducted.

ADMIN REMINDER:

Websleuths is victim friendly. RT is considered a victim unless/until such time as LE officially indicates otherwise.

Do not make direct accusations or insinuate he is somehow responsible for BT's disappearance. You may respectfully question what he has said in MSM or what is written about him in MSM, but do not turn it into accusations against him.

Failure to heed this reminder may result in a thread reply ban.

BBM:

"Unlikely?"

Oh, yeah.

It's unlikely that the same "knife-wielding man" described by SP has gone after BT, all right.

Especially considering it's unlikely the "knife-wielding man" described by SP actually even exists.

So, if there is no evidence she was abducted, and they haven't found evidence she wandered away, what are we left with?

From this link

"and there’s been no trace of Barbara since"

That leaves 2 options that I can think of:

--She left with someone, voluntarily

--She was disposed of by someone, then reported missing

But...if there’s no evidence of either of these two things having happened...? Then maybe it’s one of the first two options, abduction or getting lost, just with no evidence?

  • #598
Have we ever received confirmation she was even there?

Feel free to answer my rhetorical question.

True.

And haven't we seen a lot of cases where LE says 'there is no evidence of foul play' ----until they suddenly announce an arrest?

Or, one of them has onset intermittent dementia. We had a nieghbor who seemed perfectly normal, but he literally forgot hours of his life. He didn't even realize what was happening. And he went downhill very quickly.
