Why go to a place that remote then? Why not somewhere else that's relaxing yet near civilzation?

When I want to truly relax, I get as far away from civilization as possible and immerse myself in nature. MOO

I think with the lack of info, we may be overreaching on speculations. At least I had to put myself in check.

Amateur opinion and speculation
I agree. Another possibility came to my mind, other than love, and that would be that some people really like to portray a loving couple as it’s a big part of their identity and what they think they ‘should’ be like to be liked and admired. And again, it could be pure affection. There is absolutely nothing to take from a single photo like this for me. IMO

So many more comprehensive details before a real opinion is formed for me.

People also seem to think it’s impossible to become lost or separated in a short space of time. I’ve been both lost with my partner in the snow, and separated. Both were scary but luckily we got back on track/found each other. It really doesn’t take much to get confused or lost! Well, certainly not for me, and I hike a lot.

Forget that. I'm skeptical and here is why.

Calling the close family of a missing person should seem to be basic detective work. Not just to let them know, but to ask if they have seen them, or know anything about the case, or can provide suggestions about where they could be.

This isn't her second cousin twice removed.

Which part of the VI's statement are you skeptical about?

Her son's not having been informed by RT, her son's not having been informed by LE for 6 days, or both of those things?

Actually 1-40 goes to Kingman, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo but does not go directly into Las Vegas.

I thought it off that he mentioned Las Vegas.

Except that this is a very very popular route to Las Vegas for so many Southern Californians and Arizonans. It's my preferred route. It was my parents' preferred route. SO many people take it (and we always throw in tent and sleeping bag in case we decide to stay out there instead of Vegas on way in). It's actually the only way I can get my DH to go to Vegas...

And where do you think they would get her sons number from?

I don't believe her husband had anything whatsoever to do with this. He needs sympathy. I think she got lost and unfortunately is laying dead somewhere out there.

I sadly agree with you on her current location.

Although I understand folks who's opinion is different, I see nothing suspicious about her husband. Just an older gentleman, overwhelmed, and speaking off the cuff. I can see myself sharing seemingly unrelated information in a situation like this. I can also understand why you'd cling to any theory that meant your loved one could be alive - thus his abduction comment.

My heart hurts for this family. Barbara seems like a super cool lady.

Have there been suspicious deaths or murders in the family?

with regards to media reports, as far as i can tell, between day one and day nine of the search there is literally no new, relevant info provided. and continues to be no new info besides the search having ended and passed to investigative department, as per protocol. that is a whole lot of not suspecting law enforcement claims to be doing.

happy if someone can show me i am wrong.

also, amazed no one here is talking more about wild claims Barb's son is making.
What would we do a google search for in order to find these wild claims?

This may be why we aren’t allowed to follow breadcrumbs to family members. We are

This may be why we are not allowed to discuss family members. How do we know who to believe? I am waiting for our VI to give us his insight

I would not want to be in an area with sketchy cell service if my sibling were seriously ill. But I am a worrier and not everyone is, I know.

DBM

Trying to figure out posting mechanics, accidentally hit reply button, alert came up, I’ll figure it out eventually

I can tell you what not to google. I tried, “Barbara Thomas breadcrumbs” and found several salmon patty recipes :)

Look back in thread 1 (I think) at a Twitter link. Look at the comments and follow it from there.

Honestly, at this point I don't lend a lot of credence to the breadcrumbs that can be found MOO

I am willing to believe they could have become separated but it seems SAR did a comprehensive search that covered at least the likely radius of where she might have been. So I dunno. I’m struggling.

I think it is much ado about nothing. But let everyone draw their own conclusions.

Sourdough breadcrumbs make the best croutons. Just cube some sourdough bread, sprinkle lightly with olive oil and fresh-grated Parmesan.

How do we know her son was telling the truth that he wasn’t informed?

it can be sleuthed.

for the record, robbie did not inform barbs son she was missing. he found out from police six or so days later.

This is absolutely unacceptable. Family is the first people you call!

Look at all the comments under all the articles...I believe I found them in a DM article (Daily Mail), But I could be remembering incorrectly. Those breadcrumbs brought me to a Facebook page; but now that Page, has subsequently deleted their comments

Edited because you know, Siri. Then edited again because I forgot to say that I edited my purse ...And now once again to say post not purse

I’ve been assuming he has a digital and/or standalone camera separate from his phone. If he’s a photography buff or relatively new and enthusiastic, he could spend an hour getting just the right shot (though mid-day would tend to have very strong light). That’s one part of the story I could see happening: he stops to take pictures and it’s 15-20 minutes instead of 5. I wonder if his backpack is a photography backpack.

One can get so caught up in catching the perfect photo, for social media or others purposes, that it’s easy to lose track of time ... or lose your footing trying to pose perfectly or get the right shot. I think that photography contributed to whatever befell Paul Miller, who is still missing after going on a hike to photograph big horn sheep at Joshua Tree National Park.

ETA to fix quote

Its a leap for me to elevate anyone from picture taker to photographer. Just sayin...Most of us are the former. Maybe family here can offer insight.

No. Never. Pack your trash. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

Yes. Every avid hiker, everyone who respects the natural environment practices this.
