I submitted a tip directly to the sheriff's office. Hopefully it doesn't go into the void.

Thanks! Fingers crossed!

Well, virtual fingers. Even if it pans out, we're not likely to hear anything for a long time.

There's another photo of Alejandra from the school yearbook's previous year. This one's in color.

Hair description, complexion, and eye color seem very similar.

This is a link to the new Facebook page that was made to boost awareness of the case of Barstow Jane Doe. At the moment it only features facial reconstruction images and a list of rule-outs.

According to Google and maps one of the bags she was wrapped in is from a local grocery store chain in Washington near the Yakama reservation. This girl went missing under very suspicious circumstances near the area in 2009. In the 911 call she made the night she disappeared, you can hear a man in the background threatening to kill her if she didn’t go with him. Also a news article stated was last seen with a man in a green pick up truck with Oregon license plates. I read a few comments back that in 2022 they also found a severed head in a backpack in Oregon. Coincidence???? I don’t know but something about her reminds me so much of Barstow Jane doe.

Girl's head found in Barstow remains a mystery

While the Walgreens bags could be from almost anywhere, since the stores are found nationwide, Libby said most Fiesta Foods markets are found in Southern California, with several in the San Bernardino County area.
According to this news article, Fiesta Foods markets are found all over SoCal.

It is stated in said interview that this Jane Doe had brown hair with red highlights. I must have missed this detail because I had not seen it before. Or if I did, I don't remember it.

This brings me to Isabela Lopez - #MP25528

Isabela -16yrs, was last seen in Montebello, CA on August 12, 2009. It was only 6 months later that Barstow Jane Doe was found. Looking at the photo in NamUs, Isabela appears to have brown hair with a reddish hue. Thus matching the "brown hair with red highlights" description.

A quick Google search of "Brown Hair with Red Highlights" shows images that are similar to that of Isabela.

Isabela Lopez
Circumstances of Disappearance: Per law enforcement -M/P Lopez was living with foster parents. M/P Lopez went to bed at 2100 Hrs and the foster mother later went in the room to say goodnight and M/P Lopez was gone.
According to NamUs, Isabela was living with foster parents when she was last seen. Maybe Law Enforcement is having difficulty finding bio relatives. Or maybe they are no longer alive. This could explain the inability to confirm or rule Isabela out via DNA.

I also wanted to highlight that it is a direct shot from Montebello onto CA-58, where BJD was found.

A quick Google search shows there are only a few steps in the driving instructions to get from Montebello to CA-58. It's pretty straightforward, albeit a 2.5-hour drive.

Directions: From Montebello, California, USA to CA-58, California, USA
1. Get on CA-60 W/Pomona Fwy from W Beverly Blvd, W Via Acosta and N Garfield Ave - 8 min (2.4 mi)
2.Take I-5 N and CA-99 N to CA-58 E in Kern County. - 2 hr 8 min (133 mi)

I recognize that Isabella may not look a whole lot like the recons, but I still think this should be looked into anyway. Nothing against @CarlK90245 and his wonderful skills! I just seem to recall that this Jane Doe had such extensive injuries that there was a chance the recons might be unreliable.

I have sent this information along to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, the San Bernardino Coroner's Office, and Firebird Forensics.

Barstow is the halfway point between Los Angeles and Las Vegas (with very little else but desert and a few gas-stops on either side) . It used to be a one-horse-town, mostly gas stations and fast-food joints, but it has become a fairly large community in recent years.
Lenwood is a major stop for people going to Las Vegas as well as a major stop for Truck Drivers.
It's going to be pretty difficult to peg a match for this UID because her face was mutilated. Actually, the word "mutilated" was my own word choice. As I recall, Van Norman used the word "removed". Van Norman doesn't think that they even should have done a reconstruction because so much of this reconstruction is a wild guess, and people will be focusing too much on her overall appearance when they should be focusing only on her hair, ears, and teeth, and maybe on facial dimensions.

Quoting some comments.

Hmm. it looks like DNA will be the best way to identify her. Maybe Jane Doe was heading to Vegas?

I hope 2025 is the year she gets identified!

I called NCMEC about this months ago, Isabela Lopez is no longer missing but her Namus page is still up.

A person posted on a DNA Angels YT video earlier today that two FBI agents met with her 3 weeks ago and told her she is a related to the Barstow Jane Doe. I assume she would be closely related for agents to actually visit her in person.

Here is the comment from the YT video (mods idk if this is allowed so if it gets removed from the thread I understand)

3 weeks ago, 2 FBI agents came to my house. They verified my identity and explained that my DNA matched the DNA of a skull found in 2010 in Barstow, CA - "Barstow Jane Doe." I explained that I was adopted but had reunited with my birth family, tested with Ancestry and 23& me, uploaded to GED Match, and was doing family history research on birth family. I'm hoping to hear more but I'm sure the holidays have delayed the continued research. I so want to help find the identity of this young woman.

BJDs case reminds me a bit of Yesenia Nungaray's case.

Link to her WS thread:

CA - Castro Valley, UID Female, 14-18, May'03 - Yesenia Nungaray

Yesenia's alleged killer has not been found and is suspected to be in California or Mexico.

ETA: Yesenia and her suspected killer knew each other so I'm not sure that they are connected to BJD but some similarities in circumstances.

Has anyone suggested Gloria Aguilar missing from Nevada?

  • #299
She probably was on a camping trip, maybe using the bags as a way to store her supplies and got murdered by someone there too. Poor woman, man.
