Identified! CA - Berkeley, Human skeletal remains found @ UC Berkeley in a building abandoned for years, 13 Jan 2023 - Steven Lawrence McCreary

I just made a thread for VB because she may be a vulnerable missing victim, as she was said to be unfamiliar with the U.S.
However after considering it, IMO this UID isn't going to turn out to be her. MOO.
Thank you for doing that for her. My gut feeling is that it isn’t likely going to be any of these people we are naming. I think the odds are more in favor of a homeless person passing away in there than a situation where someone possibly broke in to dump a body, but you never know.

Human remains found on Jan. 10 at UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr Campus belong to a man who was the victim of a homicide, university officials confirmed Wednesday. DNA evidence suggests that the remains, which were allegedly found two years ago and went unreported to the police until January, likely belong to Steven Lawrence McCreary, the University of California Police Department said.

"McCreary was born on Oct. 8, 1972, and was approximately 37 years old when police say he was last confirmed to be alive in 2009. It does not appear there was media coverage when he went missing."

Steven was a hitchhiker from Texas who traveled around the country by train. His family last spoke with him in 2009; it's sad they spent years wondering where he was. Rest in Peace Steven

wow so im thinking other homeless individuals were aware he was there and then finally someone reported the location.

Someone apparently being the construction workers who first saw the body in 2021 .

What happened to the human skeleton found at UC Berkeley?
I'm shocked as to why the staff member who worked at Berkley at the time and was informed by construction workers about the skeleton, immediately when they found it, did not report it to the police!!! Did the staff member report it to anyone at Berkley I'm wondering. Also, article says police interviewed the staff member, and he is not a POI and no longer works at the university. If I was a family member of Steven, I would be very upset about this two year gap, and would want answers! The poor family, who not only has to cope with Steven's loss, but the fact that it was a homicide, and on top of that, could have been reported two years earlier. My condolences to them all and I hope they get answers.

IKR?!? How do you just go about your life for two years knowing there is a dead body in a school building that you, as an employee of that school, are responsible for? I mean honestly, how did this guy sleep at night?!? There is either something very wrong with him or there is more that he’s not telling.

im thinking that the work would be halted for indefinite amount of time for investigation but still pretty heartless!

Forensic and other evidence indicates the death occurred many years ago. McCreary was known to be alive at least as recently as 2009 and would have been approximately 37 years old at that time.
