What an improvement on the FB picture! Did anyone notice if those look like the glasses on the kitchen table? Can anyone find that picture with the glasses on the table so we can post a side by side?

They look the same to me, but a side by side would be nice.

You know, if the person managing Bob's FB page has figured out how to change his profile photo, maybe s/he could put up a whole gallery of Bob photos for people to see? Perhaps some copies of the missing poster? Links to some websites, like Project Jason? You know, social media can be used very effectively for free publicity.

With that in mind, can anyone guess what possible function the current FB page serves?

That info may be available to friends only. IIRC the FB page was turned over to one of Bobs daughters. All of whom have FB pages of their own so I am quite sure they are able to navigate their way around FB.

Daughter RB recently removed her FB page from the search engine... but it was there a few weeks ago so I am certain they all have or at one time had FB pages. FB does have an option to make a member profile not searchable by name.

Attached is a side by side of:
  • FB pic of Bob (speculation from Georgia's memorial at sea in 2008)
  • Pic of Bob/glasses from July 2009
  • Pic of glasses on kitchen table from 2009 after Bob went missing
On August 2, 2010, daughter R posted on IS: After his disappearance they were able to find three pairs in the house but we later noticed in a fairly recent photograph that he was wearing another pair that were not found. So much for that idea and the media’s focus and staged filming of the glasses on the table for dramatic effect.

The FB pic appears to be from Georgia’s memorial at sea in 2008 as Montjoy pointed out. If there was really a fairly recent photograph showing Bob wearing another pair of glasses that were not found, one would think the daughter(s) would post that photo somewhere.

Let's talk about priorities.

Jan 9, 2010
Daughter J posts on ROTW about a "road trip" to enjoy herself and asks whether it could be considered a tax deduction, because that would make a huge difference on her spending budget.

Sep 12, 2010
Daughter J posts on ROTW giving away free HP ink cartridges.

http://rimoftheworld.net/discuss/194/71622

Sep 24, 2010
All posts (11 pages’ worth) removed on ROTW thread titled “Plea for Positive Thoughts and Prayers - My dad is missing” which J started on July 28, 2009.

Thanks Cloud-just when you think you are charting a course of action in this case, something comes up that makes you shake your head.

BBM. I agree. Where is the evidence to support this 'alleged' photo of glasses which were not found? If it really exists, why not provide supporting documentation via the photo? There would be no reason LE would keep the photo of the glasses, if they exist, from the public because they would want this info to the public as a "be on the look out".

Let's talk about priorities......

BBM. Interesting we know the FB page and myspace page were turned over to Bobs daughters but little has been done to utilize them with regards to Bobs missing persons case.

I found the attached YouTube Video made by JM to honor her mother which was uploaded within 2 days of Georgia passing. A video for Georgia within 2 days but 14 months later no missing persons video for Bob? :(

No doubt Bobs daughters are internet savy....
Why doesn't the same enthusiasm/priority exist with getting video's and photo's of their missing father out to the public?

Worth repeating - 14 months later and no video for Bob. :(

Maybe one of our fabulous WS'rs would be willing to upload some youtube video's for Bobs case.....
since it doesn't seem to be on the list of priorities with Bobs daughters.

Hi guys-while I am waiting for this or that, I have been doing some reading on how conservators are appointed in Orange County etc. Check this out:
http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/seniors/consforms.htm

The conservators of an estate have a number of duties to perform in the hopes of preserving the finances of the conservatee (I.E. Bob Harrod)

"If the court appoints you the conservator of an estate, you manage the conservatee's finances, protect the income and assets, make an inventory of the conservatee's assets, develop a working plan to make sure the conservatee's needs are met, make sure the conservatee's bills are paid, invest the conservatee's money, ensure the conservatee is receiving all benefits he/she are entitled to, ensure tax returns are filed on time, keep accurate financial records and make sure your financial records are reported to the court. (Note: the assets and finances of the conservatee are known as the estate.)

1.) Managing the Estate Assets
a) Prudent Investments
b) Keeping Estate assets separate from anyone else's, as in no co-mingling.
(For example: No conservator could take 100K from the estate to buy themselves stocks to invest in their own portfolio, or to add on to their home if it was not owned by the conservatee...things of that nature.)
c) Interest Bearing accounts-with the exception of checking accounts used for the purposes of administrative duties, all estate assets must earn interest.
d) Other Restrictions: Without prior order of the court you may not pay fees to yourself or your attorney, make a gift of estate assets or borrow from the estate. If you do NOT obtain the courts permission, you may be removed as a conservator or be required to reimburse the estate with your own assets.

2.) Inventory of Estate Property
a) Locate Estate's property. For real estate you must record a copy of your Letters of Conservatorship with each county where the conservatee owns property.
b) Determine the value of property: you must have a court appointed referee determine the value of the property unless the court waives this appointment.
c) File an Inventory and appraisal- Within 90 days after your appointement you must file an inventory or appraisal with the court.

3.) Insurance
You should determine if there is appropriate and adequate insurance covering the assets and risks to the estate. (This is essentially a bond covering the value, I would think.) Maintain the insurance for the entire period of administration."

So I have to ask myself a few things-was there an inventory performed within 90 days which would be sometime in August, correct? Is there a bond insuring the assets and finances of the estate in place? And have the conservatee's bills been paid?

We know that the bills have not been paid, since at least the utilities were shut off. That alone violates the duties of a conservator. JMO.

I've been going over this case for an hour or so. I feel so bad that is appears no one is REALLY looking for Mr. Harrod. All the children seem to be more concerned with the trusts possessions than their own dad. :(

IMHO, I BELIEVE the reason F is still there, is she MAY feel she is the only one who wants to find out what happened to BH. She MAY feel if she leaves the state, NOTHING will be done about her missing husband, except his estate being divided among his children without a regard of closure on WHAT HAPPENED TO BOB HARROD. She MAY feel she's doing this for HIM.

I have just one question:

Why, when the cleaning lady was at the home just the day before, did one of the daughters have to come to change the linens?

My FIL had a house cleaner and she would change his bed when she cleaned his room. He would wash and fold the linens, but the cleaning lady CHANGED THE BED.

When I had a cleaning girl, she changed the beds and would have washed the sheets etc. too, but I told her I'd take care of the wash as long as she did the beds.

Just curious,
fran

Good question Fran.

IMO, daughter J went to the house to do a lot more than "change the linens." Perhaps she did some other cleaning up in the house and/or maybe took some items out of the house. She could have listened to the phone messages left for Mr. Harrod.

Which reminds me..........I'm thinking Mr. Harrod most likely had an answering machine. I wonder how many messages were left on the answering machine on July 27, 2009. If messages were left, at what time were they left? That could help with the timeline.

I would hope daughter J, and any other family member who went into the house, preserved those messages.

I wonder how the housekeeper's regular chores over the period of 7 years might have differed on that day, if they did?

Excellent question, Fran. Let's keep in mind also that there was a considerable drive for his daughter to do so -- she lives in Running Springs. And her husband had been at Bob's house for hours *after* the cleaning lady left. (The cleaning lady had also been cleaning Bob's house for some time previously, so I think it's fair to assume that the job she did was up to his standards, hence not needing an 'additional tidying up' afterward.) Surely the SiL could have changed the linens, to save his wife three hours of driving? Everything else should have been tidy.

I have always been skeptical about the sudden discovery of a photo showing Mr. Harrod with another pair of glasses. The timing of the post seemed suspicious to me.

The list of suspects was getting smaller so a new pair of glasses that is missing would give more credence to the "Mr. Harrod is a runaway" theory.

R could have posted a picture of the glasses on the forum she was posting on to get the information out. She did not. Daughter J could have posted the photo on the ROTW forum. She did not. All of the daughters could have put the photo and information on Mr. Harrod's FB page. They did not.

We know the daughters had not had much contact with their father, so I wonder where this recent picture would have come from.

Fran this has always been my opinion as well.

Thank goodness Fontelle had the courage to stay and fight for her husband. It must be so hard for her.

It just seems to me that on the second day BH was missing, when the daughter went to his home, she would have had more important things to do than change the linens. Like, talk to LE and the neighbors and call all his friends. You know, like LOOKING FOR BOB HARROD!

Seriously...............the first day, or first 5 or 6 hours, when the SIL left, I wouldn't really think anything of that. But by the time they realized he was actually missing, why the heck didn't they go to his house ASAP.

No, they wait until the next day and then just change his bed? Sorry, that makes NO SENSE!!

I don't know what happened to this gentleman, but I think some people have a little more 'splainin' to do!

According to this article --

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/-214111--.html

Bob spoke to the housekeeper that day. They likely spoke about what would need to be done, and when she should arrive. (I very much doubt he said "Don't bother with changing my linens -- my daughter will be driving down from Running Springs tomorrow to do that.")

I also don't think that the SiL knew that the housekeeper was coming. She had to wait there for some time -- he could not have been expected to let her in.

Her arriving to an empty house after being requested there the same day also refutes any voluntary disappearance theories, in my eyes.

I would LOVE to know the housekeeper's observations of the condition of the house and the SIL's behavior that day. Was she told to stay out of certain rooms or not to perform certain chores that she normally would have?

And what exactly did the SIL buy at Home Depot that day?

Neither had I, so I googled "bad dog wooping stick", and found one non-WS link, to a RotW forum post, in which the poster remarked on how her hubby shot the eye out of a gopher from their balcony. He must be some shot! And probably has had some experience hunting, and may be familiar with the woods. All JMO (though, let me be clear, I do not think Bob was shot!)

Interesting find Montjoy...... wouldn't happen to be the same ROTW poster we've linked previous posts would it? ;) Because that one has mentioned her balcony......

Shot out the eye of a gopher? With what, a bb gun? And for what reason, and of course I would wonder if you can discharge a fire-arm legally from their residence...here in my town no can do.

O/T I met someone once who was bragging that they shot a rabbit with a semi automatic and they had forgotten to switch it to single shot. We were waiting in line at a bank. I turned around and gave him what I thought was a pretty accurate estimation of his manhood.

Hunter? Fine as long as you field strip it and use what you kill. Do no harm in nature. It is patently sadistic to use a firearm on things like gophers, squirrels, birds (non game) etc...very unsportsman like.

Hi, all-so the above set of posts have really had me thinking. I did some work this morning to determine what areas of San Bernadino County you can legally discharge a fire arm. Interestingly enough, Running Springs is shown on the recreational map with this caveat:

SHOOTING RESTRICTIONS
Incorporated city territory.
Regulated by city ordinance
Closed to all shooting except shotguns firing
shot no larger than 1/2 the diameter of the bore.

http://www.specialdistricts.org/2/FishandGame/

I checked the county wide map. I wonder if you can shoot out the eye of a gopher with a shotgun that has shot no larger than 1/2 the diameter of the bore?
