I spoke with Detective Radomski about that-he was surprised and said he would get that corrected. I do not know if he has both a profile and dentals that have not been put into NAMUS, or simply one or the other.

It will be nice to get a few UID's we have seen in the area ruled out as Bob. I mean there is always a chance he is in a waterway somewhere-there was plenty of time to make that happen.

I would think LE would have had access to DNA, as Bob's brush, toothbrush would have been at the house.
As for his dentals, he most likely had access to a dentist.
And since he was in the military, I would think his fingerprints are on file. Not that will probably be an option, since..
well, you know what I am thinking....

I am quite certain that items in the house must have been fingerprinted-not that this would be definitive given the fact that many of these folks had been inside Bob's house on many occasions...or certainly a few occasions, given their absences after Georgia died....at Bob's request there was an absence IIRC.

In any case, it would be interesting to know if fingerprints were found on items that it would be unexpected to find them...on personal items for example, like the glasses etc. One would think that Bob would be the only one handling certain personal items. Like a toothbrush.

I have spoken with some of the MedEx's in the area and they are simply waiting for dentals and/or DNA to be uploaded to make their comparisons. At least even when some of these John Does are ruled out, we will know where Bob is not! As we have stated before, anything that narrows the pool in this case is a win.

Does anyone know if FRS DNA has been collected from family? The processing is free, and the kits are free as well. I am quite certain the bio-family of Bob would be willing to be swabbed at PPD in order to accelerate the process of finding him. The data is uploaded into FBI databases at UNITCHI in TX. :)

Still wondering about those "home repairs" SIL was supposedly doing at Mr. Harrod's house. I wonder where SIL went at 11 am. We know SIL had a receipt from Home Depot stamped at 3:04 pm. SIL must have given the PPD the 11 am information.

What exactly were the repairs SIL says he was doing? He seemed to be gone from the house quite a bit. We know there was a CVS trip at some point on July 27th. IIRC, paper plates and soda were purchased. Hardly items one would use for home repairs.

"Robert Harrod was last seen at his residence on July 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the city of Placentia. When a family member returned to the house at approximately 1:00 P.M., Harrod was gone."

In August before the IS thread was locked, daughter P posted that they were still working the case themselves, and daughter R posted that she was in contact with the PPD. So hopefully they have followed up with the PPD on the DNA aspect and are working it themselves.

Also, from Census records, Bob has an older sister W, so maybe she could give her DNA is daughters are unable to.

I'd like to know that as well. So daughters (and assume SIL) were estranged from Bob for some time by his choice. Then SIL was at Bob's house the day before with the daughters when there was an argument about money. Then he came back in the morning to help Bob with "home repairs" and "odd jobs" as described by daughters.

According to daughter J, her husband J did quite a few renovations on their home in R.S. He must have been pretty good at that stuff.

There has been some positive responses to media requests to do a story. Here are some contacts for anyone that wants to send an email.

Daughter J mentions the earlier time window in this video ("We're thinking 1...noon?"):

(Is she occasionally looking at someone else, besides the interviewer, in the room?) If her timeline was an accidental mistake, it is unfortunate that the PPD chose to run with it for their news item. But with an event of this gravity, it seems odd that her time differs so much from when the SiL returns from Home Depot to find the housekeeper waiting.

I was just reading about Cathy Torrez, the 20 year old Placentia woman who was stabbed to death in 1994.

In 2007, 13 years later, two cousins, Sam Lopez and Xavier Lopez, were arrested and charged with her murder (new DNA results linked them). Sam’s brother, Armando, was arrested and charged with being an accessory to murder. He is accused of helping his relatives conceal the murder and telling a witness not to give evidence to law enforcement.

From a lookup of the OC criminal court records, it looks like the jury trial will be starting soon if it hasn’t already started.

One article says, “Placentia Police Department investigated this case with the assistance of the Orange County District Attorney’s Task force review aimed at catching Killers, Rapists and Sexual offenders (TracKRS) Unit.”

I wonder if the PPD has engaged the TracKRS unit to assist with Bob’s case.

BBM. I'd almost hate to know the SIL and the DD's definition of "odd jobs". Might be too skery to know.....

I've given a LOT of thought on why PPD might still be going with the earlier last time seen. It's quite possible SIL was only able to account for his time between 2-3.... and it is also possible LE has a credbile witness or credible witnesses to account for NOT seeing SIL at Bobs home at that earlier time so LE knows credible witness last placed SIL at Bobs home at time X - or time, say UPS stopped by to make a delivery and no one answered.. UPS would document this...and LE can account for SIL's time between time Y and Z. That still lives that X to Y time slot open....
Of course this is pure speculation and I have no idea who or how many credible witnesses LE may or may not have..... after thinking about this 10 ways to Sunday the above is the only logical explaination which makes any sense.

JMO

ETA: Just because LE was unable to find any witness to say they saw Bob Monday, it does NOT mean LE does not have witnesses they interviewed to give a solid time they did NOT see SIL's truck in Bobs driveway the day went Bob went missing (and at a time SIL claims to have been at Bobs) Just food for thought.......

and still jmo

VERY interesting. BBM. It is quite possible working iwth the TracKRS unit is something PPD may be keeping close to the vest if they are currently assisting PPD.

What exactly is FRS and how does it work?

A FRS is important from Bob, his children and or grandchildren for a few reasons. Let's say that remains are located and are too degraded to obtain nuclear DNA. MtDNA will likely be available still because it is more hardy because it appears outside of any cells nucleus. Possibly even Y DNA, better known as Paternal DNA will be able to be collected.

If there is not MtDNA sample on file for Bob it is going to be far more difficult to run matches against any people whose MtDNA is already in the system.

Providing a FRS if needed will also indicate how determined his family is to make sure he is found. As in how willing they are to cooperate and leave no stone unturned. Even his sister is eligible to provide a cheek swab...simple process. I have set up dozens.

PPD may not need it however-they may have everthing and just not have entered it into databases. :)

O/T I had the great pleasure of working with UNITCHI when it first went online and NAMUS started up and running. It was amazing to watch the determination of scientists and LE to create a means for identifying the 47K+ unidentified human remains that are logged even to this day, as well as creating a database for missing persons that would be central to both Law Enforcement and the general public. Sheer genius. And something I thank George Bush jr for every day, since he signed the initiative for the NIJ (National Institute of Justice) to move forward on providing free FRS testing for all MP cases. The "free" ebbs and flows with the budget of course, but the idea was and is a sterling one!!!

Well, not to get into politics but thank you for giving me ONE reason to like W...and thanks for the info!

I cant imagine all those unidentified people...how sad... :-(

BB&CBM. Exactly! I'd like to see this too as actions speak louder than words.
I'd like to see actions, enough of the lip service (and excuses) already.

BBM-that is why it is all fire important to get the data entered in to a database that will all mesh together...even if some of the UID's in the area do not match Bob, there are others who have washed up in other places, samples that have been taken from objects etc...that just might trigger a match.

Everyone in this case is looking for closure-on that I am quite sure. :)

Not to put too fine a point on it, but what if everyone is wrong and he is not dead but lying as a living UID somewhere in, say, Vegas? Those folks have their DNA and dentals in databases as well.
