Unless they have been named by LE as a suspect or POI we do not sleuth family members.

MSM Reports the Sachs having 5 children, the 2 youngest children were adopted.

I find his Facebook page a little disturbing. Most teens have normal pics with friends, family etc...not much there other than scenery. Apparently he likes video games, but that's about it.

Finally someone reported which school he was attending:

Seattle man, 19, charged after parents slain in California
A student at North Seattle Community College has been charged in Southern California with the slaying of his parents.

By Paige Cornwell
Seattle Times staff reporter

"Ashton Sachs has lived in Seattle since last fall and was a student at North Seattle Community College, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. His most recent Seattle address is listed as a 1,184-square-foot Lake City condo that sold for nearly $245,000. He has no criminal record in Washington, save for a speeding ticket in Kittitas County.

His arraignment is scheduled for Monday in Santa Ana, Calif."

ALSO:

The school is on the quarter system. Winter quarter began Jan 6, and ends Mar 26. I couldn't find any unusual school events around February 9th.

I imagine he would have needed to pay out-of-state tuition, at least until he could establish Washington State residency, which might be what the Salmon Run Property Management LLC is all about. It seems they actually own property in Gig Harbor and Ashton has an address listed there.

Just watched the noon news on NBC LA. Ashton Sachs was arraigned today. Three family members were in court, including his aunt. They reported that he planned the murders for weeks and that he blamed his parents for his depression.

Is he talking? Did they report on why he would shoot the little boy and shoot at his sister?

  • #311
No they didn't say anything about his reasons for shooting the little boy or his attempt to shoot his sister. As soon as the link is up I will post it here.

I just read this on another news site. I am confused now. How could NBC get it so wrong??

Weird. Maybe he was brought in today, but they asked for a postponement.

IMO, I think he planned to kill all of them.

Sister present in court, declined to comment.

Prosecutors are confident they have all the evidence they need

They also believe it was planned.

They don't believe money was a motive.

From the above linked LATimes article:

"Ebrahim Baytieh, a prosecutor with the Orange County District Attorney’s office, said the motive behind the killing was not financial, but declined to go into specifics.

Baytieh said that Sachs purchased the gun used in the crime and had planned out the shooting “for a long period of time.”

“This is a horrendous crime involving an adult man that decided to murder and kill the people that loved him the most and the people that were supporting him,” he said."

*

"If convicted he faces a minimum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole and is eligible for the death penalty. Judge Craig Robison ordered that Ashton Sachs be held without bail.

Andra Sachs’ sister was present in court, but declined to comment on the case."

Ashton Sachs APPEARED in court, stated he didn't have a lawyer and couldn't afford an attorney so his arraignment was continued to April 4 and he will be appointed a public defender. But he was not officially arraigned yet

I am not condoning what he did, but Ashton's attorney may consider having him undergo a psych evaluation if he/she hasn't already. JMO, he snapped mentally, and/or has some kind of mental illness.
