Brittany would be alive today if not for the three who took her life. A DP sentence trial was on the table. What's been happening?

I haven't heard anything about the trial moving forward. The wheels of Justice for Brittany are sure moving slowly. Hope if anyone hears something on the news they'll post us an update.

Decision over death penalty to be determined in murder trial

... prosecutors and defense attorneys stated that they are currently working on processing large amounts of evidence related to the case.

Catching up. This is about the baby born after their arrest. I missed this news of any custody battle.
It's an interesting article worth reading.

"Little did they know, the home was the scene of the gruesome murder of a young Marine wife who was allegedly killed in a sex dungeon in the basement."

"The 2012 murder of Brittany Kilgore allegedly involved sadomasochism and bondage."

Marine Sgt. Louis Ray Perez, 48, Dorothy Maraglino, 39, and Jessica Lynn Lopez, 27, will face life in prison without parole if convicted in the death of 22-year-old Brittany Killgore, Deputy District Attorney Patrick Espinoza announced at a readiness conference Friday.

The prosecutor confirmed his office would not be seeking the death penalty if the defendants are convicted at their June trial.

Thanks for the update. It shouldn't take long to decide on life without parole for all three. It was such a depraved, senseless murder. Shame, it takes over three years to get this to trial. I hope to see Justice finally for Brittany.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The trial will begin Monday for three people from Fallbrook accused of murdering Marine wife Brittany Killgore.

Louis Perez, Dorothy Maraglino and Jessica Lopez each face murder along with other felony charges for the death of the 22-year-old.

Killgore and the defendants were believed to be involved in sadomasochism prior to her death.

Reports say Killgore was strangled and dumped near Lake Skinner more than three years ago and her body showed signs of attempted dismemberment.

Autopsy Report Unsealed in Marine Wife’s Bizarre 2012 Slaying

Killgore’s autopsy report, unsealed for the first time Wednesday, determines the Marine wife’s cause of death as “homicidal violence.”
A toxicology report says Killgore had no drugs in her system at the time of her homicide. Testing detected an alcohol level of 0.06 percent, though the autopsy says a low level of alcohol “can be produced by fermentation occurring in decomposition” and may have been due to postmortem changes in Killgore’s body.

Jeezuz. I wish everyone should just STOP claiming schizophrenia as a reason/motive/apology for murder. It REALLY pisses me off (plus in this case it is plain stupid and makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever). I hope the 3 of them rot.

Ugh everything about this points at Perez, not just the hard evidence. While I do believe Lopez likely has several disorders, I think it is presumptive of Perez to claim she has schitzophrenia and multiple personalities - she was found competent enough to stand trial at any rate. His story about Lopez doesn't add up at all.

This is going to be a really tough trial regarding the women. We have one who has a written confession with accurate details, so the jury has to decide if one of the others put her up to it. It will be interesting to hear how that is handled by her defense. DM is going to be hard to convict for murder IMO, there is no evidence that really supports that she did anything but give Perez an alibi. How do we know she didn't call Brittany to go on the boat because Perez asked her to? It is possible she wasn't aware of his intentions. How do we know she was even present when the murder happened? (I only recall the reports stating Perez texted her to come home about 22 mins after Brittany texted "Help", which only shows she wasn't there initially) I anticipate seeing what the prosecution puts forward against her.

She is articulate and observant. From her writing alone, it doesn't seem that she would be very gullible. I wonder if her lawyers know about these missives. It could come back to bite her in the butt.
