This is my first time to quote an article; paste in information - I hope I did it right.

BBM to highlight some information I hadn't heard about yet.

SAN DIEGO CA - San Diego Sheriff’s Department found a body Tuesday believed to be a missing former Missouri resident.
Brittany Dawn Killgore was reported missing Saturday about 6:30 p.m. when her phone was found by a homeless man who was trying to sell it to a stranger. The stranger took the phone to find out who it belonged to and called her mother who had been sending her pictures and messages.
According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, based on leads developed Tuesday, the body of a woman was found nearly a mile north of Lake Skinner near Warren and Borel Roads in Riverside County.
The body was transported back to the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office. Positive identification of the body and the manner and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
A second arrest has been made in this case. Her name is Jessica Lynn Lopez, 27-years-old. She was taken into custody this morning in the 1400 block of Rosecrans Street at the Ramada Inn. Lopez is currently at UCSD Medical Center for a medical necessity and will be charged with murder.
According to Cheryl Coble, Brittany’s grandmother who lives in Farmington, Brittany’s mother called police after the stranger contacted her about the missing phone. Police went to Brittany’s apartment and found her carryon bag and laptop case which she planned to take with her on the plane to Pennsylvania with her Tuesday to be with her parents. Brittany had packed everything up and shipped it to her parent’s house.
Brittany’s mother had called Coble’s other daughter, Deanna Allen Wampler, who also lives in the area, and told them Saturday Brittany was missing.
Earlier on Tuesday Coble said the hardest part is not knowing where Brittany is. “It’s horrible I don’t know how to explain and we can’t comfort each other,” she said.
She was married to a Marine who had been serving in Afghanistan and had separated from him.
Coble said Brittany was very cautious and wouldn’t be gone long without anyone hearing from her.
“She just wanted to be at her parent’s house and just wanted to sit and hold her new niece,” said Coble.
Coble said the Jacque Rawson Waller family called and talked to them about Brittany’s disappearance. She said her kids and the Rawson family were friends.
Brittany’s father Darryl Wreast and his father Jim, who also lives in Farmington flew out to California and have been handing out photos and information about her. Brittany’s mother, Michelle Allen Wreast has been in Pennsylvania with her other daughter and new granddaughter and her other sibling.
Coble said the Marine Brittany was last seen with has been in jail and is not talking to anyone about what happened that night.
“He’s 45 years old and has invoked his Fifth Amendment right about what happened the night she disappeared and he’s not talking,” said Coble.
Brittany was supposed to go out with Louis Ray Perez and his girlfriend to a dinner cruise but her family is not sure if they ever made it. His girlfriend backed out at the last minute.
Detectives believe she was last seen on Friday evening in the company of Louis Ray Perez, 45-years-old. He is an active duty Marine currently in custody in Vista Jail on an unrelated charge of possession of a stolen AR-15 assault rifle.
Brittany’s family had lived in Rolla before moving to Pennsylvania around Halloween.
Her husband is due back in California this week.

From article in above post:

"Brittany was supposed to go out with Louis Ray Perez and his girlfriend to a dinner cruise but her family is not sure if they ever made it. His girlfriend backed out at the last minute."

I guess that explains the gown....any locals know what type of attire is typically worn on these dinner cruises?

Are there any other crusie lines that do these dinner cruises around San Diego?

http://www.hornblower.com/hce/home/sd

If her friend last saw her at 5pm would they have time to get her for this cruise?

And the piers for these dinner cruises are very close to the area where her cell was found.

I wonder if the perp drove to that area and ditched her phone to make it look like she had been there as planned.

I've been on a dinner cruise, it was during the holiday season and we were casual. These cruises can be booked by anyone for probably any occasion. Those planning an event would decide on attire.

I wondered about that too, laniefi, drop the phone to make it look like she was there - delay the situation!

IMO, I don't know if she would have had enough time to make it down to the harbor, Friday night traffic is rough although she would have been heading the opposite direction.

Would LE take prints from the phone?

Or would one suspect take care of her body (guy) and another go in the opposite direction to ditch her phone (Lopez)?

I need more timeline details. What did Lopez do between Friday night and Tuesday morning?

So many questions, I wonder how Perez ties into this.

While it is unknown what led investigators to Lopez's motel room, 10News has learned that when authorities arrived, they found Lopez with multiple cuts. It is believed Lopez intended to kill herself and left a note that indicated what happened to Killgore and where her body was.

10News reporter Steve Fiorina spoke with a neighbor who knew both women. The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said Lopez was trying to leave town with a friend.

"They came to give me a hug and [say] goodbye when they were leaving," the neighbor said. "They were staying at a hotel before they would fly out."

10News learned investigators are looking into whether the women were possibly involved in some unusual behavior. The neighbor said it was no secret that the two women were involved in a dangerous sex industry.

"They were into the… sex slave things," said the neighbor. "I tried not to judge… but that's what they were into."

Because of the somewhat sloppy use of pronouns in the article, it's at least a bit unclear whether the anonymous neighbor was asserting (or speculating) that Ms. Killgore and Lopez were indulging in "a dangerous sex industry" or whether the reference is to Lopez and her friend.

Also, this article indicates that Lopez was moving somewhere. An article previously posted here said that Killgore was in the midst of her own preparations to move back to her parents' house in Pennsylvania.

I'm from SD and have been on the Hornblower dinner cruises numerous times. Like everything else about SD, it was pretty casual. I do not recall formal gowns by any of the passengers, but maybe she had the dress and was excited to wear it?

Should this case be labeled 'found deceased' now?

Has it been established who the Marine's girlfriend was/is who backed out?

This link says BK packed up her stuff and was going home to be with her parents. I'm wondering if she had gotten into something that was over her head and was trying to get away. JMO

Hi, Maiko. I think that she had either gotten into something or wanted to get over something: Having just made decisive steps to end her marriage, Brittany might have decided that living near base (with whatever that might have entailed) no longer had meaning.

I've taken a couple of dinner cruises through Hornblower. A close friend works as a DJ on one of the boats. He said that they host all kinds of parties and events. It could be a birthday party, corporate event or even prom. The attire varies based on the event. They also do a few cruises where you just buy individual tickets, no planned event involved. There are a couple of other cruise companies in the harbor, but Hornblower has the biggest boats, and has several sizes in their fleet. The harbor is a few miles away from the Gaslamp area where her phone was found. Takes less than 5 minutes by car, but it would be a long walk.

I know these "sex slave" rumours are just that at this point, rumours, but has anyone else noticed that Lopez appears to be wearing a dog collar in the picture that has surfaced?

Collars have varying degrees of significance for people in the BDSM community. A person wearing a collar may wish by doing so to make it known that he or she is submissive. Wearing a collar may similarly be a signal to others that the submissive is "owned" by or is in a relationship with a dominant, and that the wearer has been formally collared.

Collar (BDSM) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IMO, I think Brittany got involved with the wrong people who were into some non-mainstream sexual practices. I wonder if Lopez was "owned" by Perez, and some jealousy ensued when he started hanging out with Brittany? Pure speculation, as we really don't know yet how they knew each other or what sort of relationship they had. In any case, Brittany did not deserve the fate that befell her, and I'm glad LE seems to be doing a good job of finding those responsible.
