Did Bryce visit any atms? Was there any money left in his wallet. I know he made the $20 cc purchase...TIA.

The last person to see Bryce, C, does he have a record?

All Bryce's transactions were via credit/debit allowance card. Nothing unusual. Last transactions were the drink & gas in Buttonwillow. His wallet was left in the car, along with cell phone & laptop. His mom now has cell & laptop. Nothing unusual on cell either.

I think the last one to see Bryce was Sheriff or CHP.

PHew!!! I got this whole message done, hit submit...

Snipped by me. In the future, all you have to do is hit the back button and it will all be there!

TES will only come in with LE welcoming them. Apparently they don't want outside help at this point.

Frankly, if my loved one was missing as LE told me they didn't want outside help I'd tell them to kiss my you know what. They said the same thing to Michele Le's family and gave them no idea of the info they had which could have assisted in a search location, for months. That family was totally in the dark for the longer time but they mobilized quickly and began their own
Investigation and search. They found Michelle. Not law enforcement.

Klaaskids is on board for now. If they have the same problem TES had, I will be seeking legal council.

Good. I hope Marc can get you all help quickly.

Ok, thanks again guys for the speed catch up. Will shut up and go back now!

A new substation housing what sheriff’s officials call one of the largest and most sophisticated camera monitoring systems on the West Coast is now up and running at Castaic Lake.
...
Los Angeles County Supervisor [MDA], who attended the ceremony, said the facility was originally supposed to be a boat rental shop, but it will now serve as an operations center for the lake’s law enforcement officials and lifeguards and will help “to ensure that our people who use Castaic Lake are going to be safe and secure.”

A large part of that effort is the camera monitoring system, which provides deputies with live streaming of large areas of the lake.
...
Similar monitoring is used to screen license plates to check if vehicles entering the lake area are suspected of being involved in any criminal activity, said Capt. [SS] of the Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau.

Any chance BL was captured on their camera monitoring system on the lake/at the shore/swimming???

Sorry to just jump in with a question. I have been following this case from the beginning, but have limited time to log in today. Has the family heard anything about the identification of the burned body found a few days ago?

Sending positive thoughts and energy to Bryce's family and friends.

Thursday 12:30pm Karen Laspisa calls serviceman Christian and asks about her son. He tells her he appears “OK” but adds: “His eyes look a little red.” Bryce does not answer his cell phone.

Thursday 9pm responding to a call from the mother, CHP officers stop and search Bryce’s car spotted on Lagoon Drive in Buttonwillow. “Something happened in the whole 10 hours he was around there,” she said. This may be the time at which he was considered missing with police first but then taken off that list.

Thursday 10pm Karen speaks to her son on the phone and asks: “What are you doing?” His response, she said, is: “I’m going to hang with friends later.”Thirty minutes later, he bought a $1.71 beverage from a Shell gas station near Buttonwillow exit on the corner of Tracey Ave and Lagoon Dr

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies (LASD) deputies and several other policing agencies are working together in an effort to find Bryce Laspisa, a 19-year old White male. The public is asked to contact LASD Missing Persons detectives at (323) 890-5500 if you have seen Bryce Laspisa.

At 5:30AM Friday, August 30, 2013, a 9-1-1 call was made by a person who reported a vehicle accident on the Castaic Lake Main Ramp Road. California Highway Patrol officers responded to handle the collision in Castaic, an unincorporated community in the Santa Clarita Valley of northern Los Angeles County.

Finding no occupants in or near the damaged 2003 tan-colored Toyota Highlander, CHP officers contacted sheriff's deputies to assist in the search for the occupant(s). By 6:00AM, Parks patrol deputies with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau, were on scene at the Castaic Lake’s Main Ramp Road.

The Toyota was seen laying on its side on the main launch ramp road about 100 feet from Lake Hughes Road, leading into the upper recreation area on the north side of Castaic Lake (known as Upper Castaic Lake Recreation Area).

Sheriff's Parks patrol deputies and CHP officers searched the area on foot but no one was found.

As part of the search, the registered owner of the car was contacted. Deputies were told by the registered owners of the Toyota that their son was the last driver of the Toyota. He was identified as Bryce Laspisa.

Bryce Laspisa is described as:
Male white 19-years old. 5'11 tall, 170 pounds, red hair, blue eyes.

Tattoo of Taurus bullhead with Roman numeral on left shoulder

Last seen wearing: White cargo shots, blue/white checkered shirt, white with red Nike shoes.

His parents explained that Bryce Laspisa lives in Roseville, Placer County (Northern California) where he attends college. His family members are residents of Orange County and they said Bryce Laspisa was reportedly driving from Northern California to see them in Orange County.

Bryce Laspisa had earlier been reported as a missing person by his family members on Thursday, August 29th to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Later that night on Thursday, he was located by Kern County Sheriff's deputies in Buttonwillow, Kern County (just north of Los Angeles County) and he was removed from the missing person’s statewide database.

Bryce Laspisa spoke to his mother on the phone at 2:00AM Friday, reportedly from Buttonwillow, Kern County. This was the last contact his family had with him.

Because of this and other newly obtained information, at 11:30 AM, Friday, Sheriff's Parks patrol deputies coordinated an extensive search of Castaic Lake, surrounding mountains, and the Town of Castaic for Mr. Laspisa.

Joining Sheriff's Parks patrol deputies in the search throughout and day and night were Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies, the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team, Sheriff's search/ scent K-9 dogs, and Sheriff's patrol helicopter.

Because of the proximity of the collision to Castaic Lake, Sheriff's Parks patrol deputies and LA County Parks and Recreation Lake Lifeguards searched Castaic Lake and the dock area by boat. The search included an LA County Parks and Recreation Lifeguard diver equipped with an LASD underwater camera to conduct an underwater exploration operation.

Deputies went to local hotels/motels in the surrounding area seeking information and notified local hospitals. Local policing jurisdictions were notified including Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department personnel working at the Castaic Lake Recreation Area.

During the day, Bryce Laspisa was entered into the Missing Persons computer database as a missing person.

The extensive search all day and night continued until 9:00 PM Friday, then was postponed due to darkness. On duty patrol deputies did not locate him overnight.

Throughout the weekend deputies continued to search the area of Castaic Lake. Monday, Sheriff's Parks patrol Mounted Enforcement Detail (horseback) deputies also joined the search of remote areas in and around Castaic Lake.

The search continues today (Tuesday, Sept. 3) with a Sheriff's helicopter again searching the area and patrol deputies on the ground. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies are also searching San Francisquito Canyon. A special sheriff's dive team from the LASD Special Enforcement Bureau - Emergency Services Detail (http://www.SEB.lasd.org) and a dive team from Sheriff's Parks Bureau are conducting an underwater search in Castaic Lake. A Sheriff's search/ scent K-9 dogs and Sheriff's patrol helicopter are again assisting in the search.

If you have any information about Bryce Laspisa, please contact Missing Persons Detail Detective Chris Carns (323) 890-5500, Homicide Bureau, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who is handling this Missing Persons Investigation or contact your local sheriff's station. i am glad that you were able to get info on the Somis homicide.

for what its worth, i reached my *breaking point* at 19 and had no contact with family for over a year. high expectations proved too much for me at that time. please keep positive!

my father was an investigator (30 years) for the LA County Coroners Office. he passed away 20 years ago tho so no contacts today i'm sorry to report.

I have been trying to register all week, JUST to post on this thread about Bryce. I have been VERY closely following this for a week, and feel very connected to it for some reason. I am unsure of what to make of the whole thing and have been going back and forth on possible scenarios. I felt very angry over the delay over IDing the burned body, but do feel in the end there HAS to be a valid reason for it. An autopsy will not identify the body, thats what I don't get. They can use the dental records and do DNA testing... Its mind boggling to me. They seem to be keeping the family VERY much in the dark, and my heart goes out to them ALL. I know on the facebook page dedicated to finding Bryce, they were talking about putting together a volunteer search and rescue group and then postponed it when news of the body surfaced. I know there are SO many people who would be willing to volunteer searching the area, myself included. Does anyone know if they are still talking about doing this?

:wagon: Rabeckyanne! :welcome:

I would love to hear of any volunteer searches being organized for Bryce, too!

:seeya:

I understand the concept of wanting to get away from family, pressures, etc. even disappearing. But leaving car, phone, wallet, computer all behind, that makes me think this did not happen. JMO

This timeline is reminding me of Adrienne Salinas' case, the crash, haziness and wide gaps in the timeline...

Before anyone gets confused, the reporting of the location is lousy. Three miles north of Lake Hughes Road is correct... but this is NOWHERE near Grapevine. The stretch we would call "the Grapevine" is further up even far past Pyramid Lake.
Ummm, have to disagree, I'm a native Angelino who has traveled this stretch of I5 many times (2-3x/year). I consider the Grapevine to be anywhere from Fort Tejon to the San Fernando Valley.

Good. I hope Marc can get you all help quickly."

Respectfully snipped

Same situation with Linnea Lomax (I am family). We may have never found her without KlassKids. There is something seriously wrong with the way LE handles adult missing cases, particularly this young adult age where they tend to dismiss them as runaways and yet have no incentive to find them the way they do when it is a minor. This is due in no small part to the legal aspects that LE has no control over, but IMO, it has created a culture of back-burner-ing (just made that word up!) these VERY serious young adult cases that often involve newly surfaced mental illnesses or foul play. I remember several cases I discovered on WS while searching for Linnea. They were SO similar to hers and almost always, the families were more or less on their own. There are many things you can do while LE does their thing without breaking any laws or interfering with their investigation. I just wish there was more information and orgs like Klass that could get to every family and work with them in those first crucial days and weeks. So many more would be found.

I'm having a hard time figuring why LE would turn down TES or other volunteer groups. And why it's taking so long for them to update the family... Hoping it's not because they've ID'd the body as Bryce.
