Yes! Very similar to Shane Fell's case! It also reminds me of Maura Murray's disappearance.

That's why I so desperately hope that they find Bryce soon. I am so frustrated and saddened that Maura and Shane (and a countless list of others) haven't been located after so many years. I really don't want Bryce's case to be unresolved for that long...

Every time I log in here and don't see Bryce's thread at the very top of the list, my heart starts to pound as I begin to think it's been moved to the Located forum.

Praying he's found soon.

The initial dog search revealed the the scent went from the car to the water, nothing else, but that places Bryce at Castaic
Another dog search with bloodhounds on Tuesday showed Bryce by the waters edge but going along the shore towards the dam
Yesterdays bloodhound search picked up scents possibly leading out of the park so it is hopeful that he is trying to still get home to Laguna however might be impaired due to a head injury.
I think the search of the water itself is over and LE has concluded that he is NOT in the lake but also thinking he might be trying to head towards Laguna

If anyone is in contact with the SAR teams out there...one of the most common mistakes I have seen with SAR teams over the years is that they fail to LOOK UP. They were so focused on the ground that they did not think to look up into trees. The second was that they failed to look under low pines, in thickets etc where someone might crawl into.

Just an FYI.

About the trees in Castaic. Unless they are around the lower lagoon in the man made park in the gated area there really aren't trees per se. I haven't been up there in a long time but if memory serves me right the area is chaparral with scrub bushes. As Lake Hughes road winds back into higher elevations passed the dam it does then sprout pines. Can someone from the Castaic search team paint a clearer more current picture for out of state members? Thanks

That is good news. I have always wondered about the scent trail. So it is a continuous trail from his SUV at the accident site to the water? Or did they just pick up scent at both ends? Just pondering and if here. Could the waters edge scent been made on his first trip in? Say the first time he came into the park at 2.08am he got out took a leak or whatever, then left or slept and then returned at 4.20ish and had the accident?

As for the scent on Tuesday. He could have walked into the water enough to throw the trail off. Maybe even had himself a swim, which you said he liked to do often. He could have come out of the water at a different point and the trail got lost by the dogs.

Yesterdays scent trail leads out of the park but not necessarily out of Castaic, the town itself. Where was that scent picked up, if you can tell us? Search will continue? How much have they covered?

Anything on the SUV, prints, blood, ect?

I still have hope he is alive and just in some sort of confused state of mind.

Prayers and Faith

This is good news! Do you know if the water was searched with sonar or just divers?

I'm remaining optimistic. I told myself it that burnt body, wasn't Bryce we have a real good chance at finding Bryce alive!!!!

So I'm rolling with that. YES, I know that we don't have all the facts, we don't know all the real circumstances and nothing makes sense, however; I am choosing to believe this and praying it comes true.

I'm not an expert here by any means but usually my intuition has been pretty accurate. Not that I'm keeping score. LOL :-)

I do not think he is in the water. I believe he would have been found already if so. jmo

Now that the body is identified why can't TES come? I won't be satisfied about the lake until they (TES) use their specialized equipment.

Remember Terrilynn Monette? Missing Teacher from Ca who was eventually found in the lake in her car. It had been MISSED many times during the lake searches.

Yes, even missed by TES...no one can look at every square foot, at least not unless days and days are invested. I still have "feelings" about the lake.

I would not trust LASD opinion. They are not specialized in missing person searches. They are only specialized in criminal investigations. I am a native Californian. I would only trust the opinion of specialized well known S&R teams with the best search dogs and equipment available. It's been almost 2 weeks he should have been in Laguna by now. It's not that far I have made this drive back and forth to Northern Ca to OC many times. Bryce with his red hair, fair skin, obviously not a gang-banger would have gotten a ride there fairly quickly.

If he had a head injury with amnesia without his wallet in pocket wouldn't the first place you would hitch a ride to would be the Police Station to report your missing wallet and to find out where you are? It was also 105 degrees that whole week.

I'm thinking because it was hot and he was bleeding he jumped into the lake to wash off his injuries and stay cool till help arrived. If he did have a head injury was dizzy, tired & no sleep for 4 day, he passed out while in the water and possibly drowned.

I also think there would be more confirmed sightings of him by now...but as other posters have suggested, he could have left to another area where people aren't aware of his case...I don't know. I don't have a good feeling, and I hate to say it. :/

I agree on the specialized search team. As for BL state of mind. He may not be able to think on the line of police or he could be scared of police, or for that matter not even realize his own situation or the need for help.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and find myself drawn to this case, partially because he's originally from my area in IL and also because I have two young boys and can't imagine the pain his loved ones are facing. I know first hand the pain of losing someone unexpectedly and it's unimaginable but the frustration of not knowing where your child is is horrific to me.

My question is why aren't we hearing more from the girlfriend? If what I've read is right he was told his mom he was breaking up with her. Did that happen? Do we know why? Also, I'm curious as to what the roommate thinks of all this. Did I read somewhere that he thought he needed to find himself. I may be mixing up cases, but that would suggest he had a hint of something that was troubling him.

Prayers being said in Chicago.

I have been reading the BL thread from the very beginning. This case has me so torn up. I seriously can not think about anything else :/. Where are you BL?!?

I have been racking my brain, and a couple theories pop in mind.
1. Could he a crawled in the back of his SUV to sleep and left his car running to keep cool and someone stole his car not knowing he was in the back. Maybe he tried to break out the back to escape. Then, later his car was disposed of by the car jacker? But, why wern't any of his things taken?
2. Could he have made it to the main road to flag down help and was accidentally hit by a car and disposed of? Have the sides of the roads or surrounding areas by the roads been checked?

Dragracerz- he is so lucky to have such a wonderful uncle! You are doing an amazing job. My heart is aching for your family.

the brother statement I believe comes from roommate statement and meant as close friend. BL is an only child

please see my post above the one you are quoting. The person I spoke with said he is BLs Brother (not roommate, frat brother or anything else). He also said he does not live in California (so obviously not roomate) and that he is "estranged" from his family...

so the problem is
1. BL does not have a brother unless there is one from the fathers previous marriage.

2. The person has discussed having a permanant retainer (which BL has)

Color me confused. This "brother" also has a permanent retainer?

I thought BL was an only child?

I feel so bad for this family. Something like this could have easily happened to my brother. Before he was treated for bi-polar disorder, he would behave very strangely and he took a trip to Florida and New Orleans and was sleeping in his car. He did call now and then to let us know where he was, but naturally we didn't think that was a very safe thing to do and tried to talk him into either coming home or checking into a motel. My Dad did call the New Orleans police to ask what could be done and since my brother was in his early thirties at the time, not much. My Dad did ask them if they would notify us if he was hospitalized or taken into custody or if he got into any kind of trouble. Fortunately nothing like that happened and he came home, then later he rented a moving truck and was living in it for awhile in a town about two hours away from us. I have no idea what was going on in his head but fortunately he doesn't do those things any more. That's only a small sample of his odd behavior at the time but it's the behavior that made him most vulnerable. I have no idea from experience what drugs (legal or illegal) would do to one's state of mind but lack of sleep alone has the power to make me do very illogical things.

Right, I'd like to know if we can or can't talk about Reddit also. Lots to discuss after reading through(perm. Retainer, talking about Ill. Laws, etc.)

CatFancier said earlier that it is not an approved site:

Since Reddit is not an approved site, discussing the comments is off-limits.
